I keep dem Smash Balls on because awesome, and I'm sure a lot of people do too. Just because it's not good competitively doesn't mean it's not used.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Seems sort of an odd choice for a Final Smash since Night Slash is a relatively weak move (And even runs off of Greninja's weaker attacking stat, not that that's relevant here), but I suppose there's not much else besides Hydro Cannon and that'd be yet another beam Final Smash.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Smash Ball:
General Causual Play = 100%
Casual Play = 50/50
General Competetive Play = 0%
Competitive Play = 25 - 50%
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's really sorta hard to try and argue that Final Smashes are balanced. Aside from the inherent imbalance of being an item, let alone one that needs to be broken open, there can be no case made for balance when you have monstrosities like Super Sonic and the Landmasters flying amok in contrast to easily avoided ones like Mario Finale or Peach Blossom.
I'm glad they're trying to rebalance them to some degree, even if they'll likely just be turned off for tournaments anyway. Helps make casual matches a little more balanced.
70 is strong for a Dark move, yeah, it just doesn't have the same punch as Volt Tackle's 120 or Triple Finish's collective 120 (110 for Hydro Pump and Fire Blast now). And Dark Pulse is stronger at 80. Again, I'm not complaining since it fits really well as a Final Smash and there's no point in getting hung up on translating RPG mechanics to a fighting game, I'm just observing that it's sorta odd if you think about it.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Pretty much.
It's like the go to ninja move now. First Strider, then again in the Death Battle with Strider, then Raven in Street Fighter X Tekken, then Decapre in Ultra Street Fighter IV.
Later on tonight I'm going to rewatch the direct and give a play by play of some of my thoughts.

Its called Guesstimating, usually doing a whole bunch of research on something like this takes a lot of time...especially with limited searching. I obviously can't take every single person in to account...but I also can't limit my searching to a small area.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I think the general idea with stuff like Super Sonic was that Regular Sonic was fast, and amazing at racking up damage, but absolute shit at actually launching people, so his Final Smash should compensate for that.
@Anom:
You missed my point. Had the WiiU version been announced first then you would have been spoiled for the 3DS version since people would have posted the roster online. Hell you apparantly don't really care about being spoiled since you freely visit this thread and which directs which is/are full of spoilers so I don't understand why you're upset to begin with.
I didn't really want Sceptile before but now that Greninja has been confirmed I'm desperate for it to get in too. It was always my favorite grass starter and it's a better fit than Meganium, Torterra, or Servine.
I just hope they don't shaft Mewtwo. Sakurai knows how much he's being demanded.
By the way, did they say if Mega Lucario is a final smash or is that some kind of aesthetic change Lucario undergoes when his aura is maxed out?

I don't think it's a good idea to balance characters with their Final Smash being part of the equation. Better to balance both individually.
Aside from giving characters like Sonic a harder time without items (Which, if For Glory mode is any indication, is a legit playstyle in Nintendo's eyes), it also means that WITH items it encourages stalling. My sister would often play as Sonic and just run away the entire match until a Smash Ball spawned.
@Chariot: I don't really care about being spoiled for the 3DS version. It's the Wii U version I wanted to play first. And when I say spoilers I mean hidden content, not pre-release content. It's mainly the hidden characters that'd be an issue since stages and the like are version exclusive anyway.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Well its not like Dodging Super Sonic is a problem...him staying on you doesn't mean much since his launching power comes from the speed.

Fuck Yeah Greninja!
