Presumably stuff that's available from the start. Aside from Luigi, and maybe TL and Lucario, I assume he hasn't been showing secret characters or stages yet. THAT'S the stuff I wanted to avoid. Secret stuff.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!@Le Garcon: Well, you weren't really left out before, since there was already versions for both Wii U and 3DS, and we didn't know anything about when they'd be released before now...
@Anomolacaris: If you don't like anyone, it would perhaps be best for you if you did leave the internet for six months.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.@Anom: With odd characters like Greninja, Toon Link, Lucario, and Wii Fit Trainer already confirmed, it wouldn't shock me if there are no unlockable characters at all.
Also, I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but with Greninja confirmed, this rumor has gained a lot more credibility.
I know I said earlier that if we got "Pokemon from Pokemon X and Y" and not Mewtwo, I'd be pissed, but eh, Greninja's awesome.
Yes, I sorta realized nobody had any idea what I was talking about a few posts ago.
To try and sum it up as generally as possible, I feel disappointed by the release gap because:
- A) I prefer Wii U to 3DS
- B) The Wii U version's release will probably be barely noticed since everyone else already had the 3DS version. It'll possibly flop since anyone who was on the fence is going to default to 3DS since it comes out earlier.
- C) I wanted to get the Wii U version first to really enjoy the new experience on my console of choice. Now, I can either get the 3DS version early, tainting my later enjoyment of the Wii U version (Same roster means no unlocking surprises, not to mention all the other content like trophies will feel sorta repetitive since I just did a ton of that on the 3DS version), or wait for six whole months, avoiding roster spoilers and feeling very left out of one of my favorite franchises.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It was confirmed to not have an actual date.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyWhat I don't get is why doing the 3DS version first "taints" the experience of playing on the Wii U. If anything, I'd imagine it'd get you pumped to play the Wii U version, like "It's good here, imagine how good it'll be with a gamepad!"
Edit ninja'd. Ignore my ramblings.

"We're home, Chewie."I still haven't gotten past the first town in Pokemon Black, and Pokemon's one of my favorite franchises. Now I'm three whole games behind there. How left out do you think I feel?
And whoever thought the Wii U version would flop? If anything, people will probably get it because they'll think it's the superior version, and most general audiences will probably assume it's the only version because they don't look into these things.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.It is a little weird to me that the 3DS game is releasing first considering that it might be smarter to release the game on the less popular console first, and that Sakurai previously mentioned that the 3DS game might have to release later if anything.
I'm just happy one of them is releasing earlier than winter, though.
It also doesn't help that part of why I love this series is that it's one of the few games I get to play with my family. We play Brawl all the time. So that makes this particular series pretty important to me.
And the 3DS version holds even less value to me because I'd have nobody to play it with.

Well, look at New Super Mario Bros. U, for example. A lot of people felt disappointed with it since they had just gotten NSMB 2. It's been a long time since I've had a fresh start at Smash Bros, so that's, like, 6 years of built-up hype. Now it'd only be 6 months of built-up hype. If that makes any sense.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Pretty sure that they'd be holding out for the Wii U version because they want to make sure online play won't be such a gigantic issue, like it was with Brawl. The fact that this gives them an opportunity to add new Wii U modes and functionality would serve as a plus.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I doubt that the Wii U version will flop. It's bigger and more graphical than the 3DS version. And it'll be near Christmas.
And being locked out of fandoms? Well I can get that. But it's what Nintendo is doing so I suppose we'll all have to bite our bullet.
Buy one and miss the rest, or buy both and miss the excitement and the money.
@0dd1: The Wii U version probably will be the superior version, but for people who may have been previously unsure of their choice for that reason, I imagine a lot will decide to just go with the 3DS version instead since they don't have to wait. Or even get it just to keep them busy until the Wii U version is released, but by the time it actually is, they find themselves not that excited by it since they already have one version, and put off getting it, if they get it at all.
As for general audiences thinking it's the only version, I dunno. A lot more people own 3DS's than Wii U's.
I don't think the Wii U version will totally flop or anything, but I suspect it'll do a lot less well than it would have otherwise.

That would just come off as Sakurai continuing to fail at grasping the concept of patches.
