If you're still mad about the Wii Fit Trainer then Sakurai did his job right. She was put in to rustle peoples jimmies and garner attention.

Sakurai never said that. What he said was that the Wii Fit Trainer wasn't put in for novelty, but rather due to her uniqueness.

So, I'm pretty much done for the day and am open to some Brawls. Let me know if you want to have some online matches or something.

e Well, he put Snake in because Kojima asked him to, so maybe Miyamoto will ask Sakurai to put in Pac-Man. >_>
But Miyamoto has nothing to do with Pac Man...

r Obviously we need a bandai character, then.

I vote for Tommy.

You'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to want him.

I know I got on someone's case for complaining about this before, but does it bug anyone else that most of the stages we've seen so far are mainly made from recycled assets?

I'd prefer they did that if it means spending more time on the gameplay/actual movements(so they don't look odd) instead. If it's supposed to be a course from a game, it should look like the actual game itself as much as possible.

I'm pretty sure a lot of Smash Bros is recycled assets, ever since the 64. Not a bad thing, just keeps things authentic.

Didn't know that. (EDIT: Though I looked that up and I can't find a credible source that says that that's true.)

Still, not the same thing as Kojima asking Sakurai to put Snake in the game, since Snake is actually Kojima's creation, whereas Pac-Man is just a character Miyamoto likes.

[up][up]Well, sure. I've said the same thing before. But in terms of stages, the ratio of recycled assets to new seems much higher in For than in Brawl. I guess that's part of the price of making two fully featured games in about the same time Brawl took.

The music in the Rosalina trailer also has me worried. Y'all might think me weird, but I didn't like how Delfino Plaza, Rumble Falls, Bridge of Eldin, Pirate's Ship, etc. didn't have any remastered music from the games in which they originated. I hope that won't carry over to the Super Mario Galaxy stage.

[up][up][up]Well, yeah, but my point was that a request from one of his buddies is apparently a good enough reason for Sakurai to include a character, regardless of how important they are to Nintendo.

[up][up]Which stages use recycled assets? I honestly can't tell, except for Skyloft and the Spirit Train. And to be fair about the former, there's no way they would've been able to include the entirety of Skyloft in such detail if they'd made it from scratch.

I question why Miyamoto would request a character he didn't make, though. Makes little sense to me.

[up][up]The City Folk stage, Rainbow Road, Prism Tower, the Uprising stage (the background, at least), Garden of Hope, the Pilotwings stage, the Boxing Ring, parts of the Galaxy stage...

Come to think of it, there are also a lot more stages based on relatively recently released games. I guess that's part of the reason for the increase in recycled stuff.

[up]Didn't Miyamoto have a role in that Pac-Man Vs. Game Cube game?

[up][up]The same reason anyone on an internet forum would request characters?

I mean, it don't think it's incredibly likely that he'll request Pac-Man or anything, I was just saying it's possible.

[up]What does the Boxing Ring use assets from...?

And yeah, Miyamoto did design Pac-Man Vs.

[up]I was gonna say Punch-Out for Wii, but now that I look at the ring in both games, the Smash Bros. stage looks a lot more detailed, even if it does clear inspiration from the one in Punch-Out. No issues there.

It is possible that they took the assets of the stage and just improved upon them, making better textures and adding/subtracting things as necessary, yes?

Apparently the source of that is from a biography. The link I found for it was dead though.

...Ridley for Smash

Nah but seriously, Ridley's one of my most wanted newcomers for the next game. My top five are King K. Rool, Ridley, Mewtwo, Palutena and Shulk. And frankly, I've had enough of the flame wars over Ridley's size to last me a lifetime...

But anyway, I can't be the only one who finds it odd that we didn't get any character reveals for March, right? Unless Sakurai plans to pull one out on the 31st...

I'm seriously hoping that on April 1st Sakurai shows a zoomed up picture of something purple and scaly on Pyrosphere, hints at something big, and then proceeds to ignore it for two months until E3. It would be hilarious, and the meltdown would exceed both the Pokemon XY release and the Yoshi debacle.

Oh man, I can only wonder what Sakurai is going to do for April 1st. Given the fandom's tendency to take everything out of context, I won't be surprised if he makes a joke and it causes a huge backdraft, even if he clearly says it's a joke.
