I don't think Birdo's getting in, especially not the Captain Rainbow incarnation, since they're paying some attention to Western audiences now... I'm not saying that's a good reason, but the pesky Moral Guardians choosing "wholesome" Nintendo consoles over those disgusting, child-corrupting PlayStations and XBoxes by the truckload are the only reason that Nintendo's not bankrupt right now...

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI'd see Captain Rainbow as an AT or a Falcon alt. costume more than a playable character.

Was that Take That! really necessary?

It wasn't a Take That! against Nintendo, but it is fact that most of the gaming community doesn't take it seriously anymore. Most of the Wii's buyers are Moral Guardians — without that demographic, the remaining actual fans wouldn't be enough to keep them afloat, especially since they're selling the Wii U at a loss and are rapidly losing profits due to that same, less tech-savvy demographic thinking it's just an accessory to the Wii.
I'm a Nintendo fanboy saying this. You can't deny that the company's been slipping.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI don't really understand why some people still think the Wii U is within saving. It's been out for long enough for us to know it won't succeed (the 3DS turned around in half of the U's current life, and even then, it was a lucky fluke).
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.See, I don't worry about things like that. I worry about if the games are good or not. That's what the gaming community should worry about, instead of how much one game sold on one month.
On topic: what are the chances of a Yoshi reveal Friday?
Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 SmashThe problem is while Nintendo can still delivers some great work they're still focusing on trying newer and newer mechanics, which is understandable and good to see people doing, but when something is new and unique of cours esome people will feel alienated and will not feel the need to change.
Also, they apparently have two options once that happen: either do the exact opposite of what they were going for by realising add-ons to make it more familiar, or just ignore it. I only have a 3ds for now and I'm pretty sure all of my games could be read on just any other console as long as they have the power for it. I even trought of sticking my 3D meter so I won't turn 3d on accidentally, because apparently nobody cares about that feature.
For Yoshi, i can definitely see him back, no matter when he gets... "re-revealed"? He seem like a very popular character and Nintendo is surely aware of that, so I think they would avoid the bad reactions from Yoshifan if they don't include him. Of course that would mean another "too many Mario characters" debate, but oh well.

I don't think that's what he's saying. He's saying the Take That! against Sony and Microsoft was wholly unnecessary. Don't make digs at people just because they have different tastes than you. Plus, the other two consoles just seem to be on the whole better, and less likely to quickly go obsolete.

Maybe it's because the console's two super-hyped up games, Mario Kart 8 and this very game that we're discussing right now, haven't even been released yet. Mario Kart 7 coming out during the holidays really helped the 3DS make its turnaround so quickly.
Not to mention the other highly-anticipated upcoming stuff we know about (X, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Yarn Yoshi, SM Tx FE, etc.) and lord knows what else Nintendo is saving for E3 2014. In addition to that, the eighth generation just truly started last November; the other two consoles have only been out for four or so months, so it's still much too early to deem any of the three as complete successes or failures at this point.
But I digress.
Going back to the pic of the day, I can't help but think that Sakurai posted Fat Little Mac in an attempt to appease the Japanese fans who weren't thrilled with him being a fighter?

Eh.Aw, Big Mac looks absolutely adorable.
Looking a little bit into Captain Rainbow, I could see the titular hero make it into Smash, even as a playable character. You know what they say, the more the merrier and all that jazz. Plus I have no problems with trying to redo Fire Emblem, if you get what I mean.

Quote from Aran Ryan. "Ye got cheesburgers in those gloves, Mac?" Oh, he means Captain Rainbow appears in Smash Bros.—>Increased Western popularity—>Localized sequel
I love Big Mac, but that belly button...
