Add me to those that found today's pic to be hilarious. While I may not care for the character, I like that's he's making an appearance, since he's one of the most important characters of the Super Mario series that isn't playable in Smash, but not nearly as much as those that are, being an Assist Trophy seems fitting.
Man, I hope that made sense.
Can't say I'm not pleased by how interesting and informative today's update is. You know, as opposed to the one with Luigi's nose.
I hope tommorows update will be at least midly interesting.
Okay so so far the Assist Trophies revealed are
- Skull Kid
- Nintendog
- Starfy
- Ashley
- Mother Brain
- Waluigi
In the assumption that this game will be released in July or June and on the assumption we will get an AT reveal once per month, we only have 4 to 5 A Ts left to reveal pre-release.

Actually scratch that theory, considering that I now just remember that Starfy, Skull Kid and Nintendog were all revealed in December and Mother Brain laos was revealed in this month. So I Assume instead that we will have 2 or 3 A Ts confirmed if Sakurai keeps up this rate of relevant information coming up. I think now we robably will have a total of anywhere between 8 to 15 more confirmed pre-release.
Also everything, from the "Just because you try hard doesn't mean you'll make it into the battle." line to Luigi looking like he is surfing on the Battlefield (no really, he does) to Mario randomly hanging off the ledge makes this update an epic one.

I never really imagined Waluigi would be playable at this point, considering the Mario franchise has already 5 reps and that Waluigi's fan base was was only in the middling ground. Still, I feel really bad for his supporters.
But good god, the Miiverse is an even worse hive of stupidity than You Tube. I'm seeing people there going all about Ridley being disconfirmed without so much as a hint of evidence, which makes me believe that the hatedom is even more obsessive than his supporters. I'd love to see the looks on their faces if/when he gets confirmed to be playable.

I think that they should both be in, but with Pious emphasizing power, and Alyx emphasizing speed.
I'd probably just put traits from all of the timelines in Pious, like he uses red one, green one, and blue one (because spelling their names are bitches), while Alyx probably uses... I dunno. The Mantorok rune?
I would probably assume it'd be Alex, what with her being the main protagonist. I know Sakurai is probably not concerned with gender-balancing but Alex being a woman is a nice "bonus point" of sorts. Having access to the game's Infinity +1 Sword is another plus.
Okay. Pius, for more villains
UP B: Trapper Dimension: Pius is surrounded by blue rings of light and disappears to pop up somewhere else. This starting sequence has a little push back and super armor, making it difficult to interrupt (he can be tethered out of it)
B: Magic attack: Pius send out a non damaging red wave that is quickly followed by a damaging line. Holding down B allows it to strike up to four targets (including items)
Smash B: Shield spell: Alex sends out small green orbs which expand to intercept up to three incoming attacks with a cool down period to prevent abuse.
Down B: Summon Zombie: Pius sends out an exploding zombie, mummy that becomes ghostly as it takes damage or regenerating zombie
Final Smash: The greater guardians: Pius call,s on all three in rapid succession to cause mayhem.
Alex
UP B: Vampiric reveal: Alex turns invisible, similar to the cloaking device and lunches with a strike that causes temporary "decaying" effect on those hit. She can be hit during this move but it will not increase her damage %
B: Enchanted Shotgun: Can fire 3-5 buck shots her Remington 870 defender. They deal a little knock back and turn anything it purple for awhile.
Smash B: Shield spell: Alex sends out small purple orbs which expand to intercept up to three incoming attacks with a cool down period to prevent abuse.
Down B: Damage field: Alex leaves three purple runes on the ground which repel enemies and objects that try to occupy the same spot. Only two sets can be deployed at once
In addition, her sword would switch between red, blue and green depending on what moves she used with it. Her down smash, down air and forward throw would involve tossing it only to see it immediately reappear in her hand.
Buldogue's lawyerDidn't we just get warned about this earlier?
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy

Could've been done without the annoying jab. But at least he wasn't downgraded.
This doesn't leave many potential 6th Mario character choices...
Shadow?
