Welp, there goes Samus' other kidney.
Also, Snake fits because he doesn't fit at all. And his moveset is awesome, even if it can be a pain to learn.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."I don't think they should let Snake in unless Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain comes to the Wii U. Or, at the very least, a 3DS port of one of the other games. Like Metal Gear Solid 2. Or The Twin Snakes. Or maybe Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. Something.

Twin Snakes and Snake Eater 3D are enough to qualify him, and Sakurai and Kojima are good friends. There's no particular reason to leave him out, although personally I wouldn't mind if he was swapped out for Simon Belmont. As much as I like Snake and what he brings to the game, I think Castlevania should probably be the Konami series that is represented.
If we're talking about Namco characters to get included, I'll throw one of the less obvious ones that might still work - Susumu Hori. It'd be pretty easy to build a moveset around what he can do, and if you're really in a pinch about maneuvers that he'd be able to do, it'd also be reasonable to include his dad Taizo's air pump as well. You also have easy pickings for alternate outfits - make them patterned from Taizo, his brother Ataru, his rival Anna, and even something patterned after Hollinger-Z, Puchi, and maybe even his mom Kissy. Even if not the most recognizable, he's still from a series with international appeal, connection to multiple generations, and also fits the style of Smash pretty well. Also, I admit, it could also potentially be an excuse to include Pooka and Frygar, which would entertain me.
About the only downside I could see to Susumu would be the endless Gurren Lagann jokes being made, but I've just resigned myself to that.
As for any Tales Series character getting in... I wouldn't completely rule it out. For one, they actually are under the impression that Tales games can succeed in the US (we got the anniversary version of Symphonia! Even though I already have it on the GC, I'm pretty psyched about it). For another, we can be sure that they don't consider just the American fandom when deciding on inclusion in Smash. Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros." is a trope after all. That said, if they were to do it, I'd pin my hopes on Dhaos. One, Badass. Two, still one of the most popular characters in the series - he's probably the signature villain in a series that has several contenders. Three, we already have a perfect Final Smash for him - Dhaos Blast. Four, we need more villains (even if he's really an Anti-Villain... eh, not like Bowser's always 100% evil either). Five, for all that it matters, he did debut on a Nintendo system.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I am against all third parties, so my hopes on that front were dashed on the first trailer. The only one I would keep so far is Snake, only because he brings something different to Super Smash Bros.
For now I kind of don't want to see his return since we already have two third parties. If he does I really hope he is the last one revealed. Still, it would be nice if Geist and Eternal Darkness at least get stickers this time around. Slide Adventure Magkid got a sticker so obscurity is not the issue and as of Snake's inclusion, neither is the M rating.

I would prefer if they didn't have 3rd party characters.
My only exceptions are characters like Pulseman, Kalas, or KOS-MOS.
Games that developers that are now either owned by Nintendo or are partnered with Nintendo made while they were 3rd party.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure
Or...have some significant amount of history with Nintendo.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I know a lot of people think Eternal Darkness would be too "off-putting", but I could see it work. Nothing like a little Lovecraftian horror to spice things up.
And I trust Sakurai's creativity to find a way around the guns.
Hadn't heard of Geist before, but it also sounds like something that could be used. There's already a bit of basis for it with Manaphy's Heart Swap from Brawl, so I could see Sakurai work that into a compatible moveset.
We Are With You Zack Snyder
Geist is a First Person Action/Adventure but it is also an FPS where you play as John Raimi and you get removed from your body and through out the game you have to possess objects to scare people and animals so you can then possess that person or animal to get past obstacles in the game.
I've seen very little of Eternal Darkness, but isn't there a magic component to the game that could generate countless potential special moves?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. But what design would they use for him? I don't think there's any consistency in how he looks at all...

@37016 Given that the guy behind this video clearly doesn't know his Nintendo history (what do you mean, "no wrestling characters in Nintendo's history"? Do you forget the might of Giant Panther, or the sheer power of King Slender? And don't tell me Pro Wrestling is too obscure; that's what people said about Ice Climbers at first too), I'm not as quick to take that as gospel.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.@The infinite jabs mechanics change: That's interesting.
In suppose there's going to be a lot more short uses of those types of moves, then. Time to stick and move!
I mostly used Kirby's infinite jabs as a spacing tool (it was only really unbalanced if you had a stage with easily useable corners), which is more or less neutered if it transitions into a (probably unsafe) final attack. Hopefully you can still use it briefly without doing the final move.

I do like this update.
