According to Miyamoto, it's all just different acting roles for the characters.
But trying to forge an actual coherent story to Mario for reason aside from shits and giggles is pretty dumb.
I always thought, since they're all toys, it was the hand of the kid and he was just trying to come up with his own final boss.

nyo ho hoMario has some continuity, and at best, there's multiple different canons due to sequels and such. Like the Paper Mario canon, etc.
Anyway, being huge isn't really a gimmick, unless you're a boss. While some games can work it in, having 4 players onscreen and multiple huge characters if often unwiedly.(Giant Mode is fun, but not great for tourneys or more serious play in general)
Ridley has to be scaled down to work in the game. I could see him floating or having a lot of disjointed hitboxes. On the other hand, if his tail has so much range, it should be hittable too to make up for it.
Shadow?@Odie Yes, but if they're his hands, then the question is where he is.
Unless he's got his hands behind his back, then he'd have to be either under the stage or in front of it to keep them at their neutral position.
Of course, since they can spin around and go flying off into the background, they're probably not connected at all. At least to anything with humanoid arms.
@Irene Nuts to serious play. I want me some Mega Flower Metal Reflect Light Fast Fixed Camera fighting.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay![]()
We are in the Kid's imagination zone and we are playing as the toys in what ever scenario the kid is thinking of in imagination zone. If the hands are disconnected, that means they are suppose to be that way, we can't see what's actually happening.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.@Keybreak's realization: Huh. I never noticed that. Good catch.

: that's what I was suggesting when I gave the size I could see him at. Unless he was flying or something, he'd likely be hunched over too, giving him a build somewhat similar to Bowser's. The wing and tail hitboxes are still a bit of an issue... how are they done for Charizard, again?

That's not what I mean, Keybreak.
One character shouldn't be naturally huge. At least for normal play. It makes them either too weak or too powerful in some ways. It's a general lack of balance.
It's fine if it's 1 on 1 with that, but 3 on 1(the 1 being the huge guy) becomes a nightmare. Don't get me wrong, it's fun sometimes, but not all the time.
I love the modes too. They're very fun. But I should be able to play Ridley at a decent size, somewhat bigger than Bowser, without issues.
Charizard's tail is pretty small, like the size of Samus' armgun. It has a decent amount of range. His wings are fairly big, but not by much. Ridley has somewhat bigger wings and a ridiculously long tail.

Shadow?I still don't think we should be ready to give in to Character Roster Global Warming. Ridley could be slow and ungainly on the ground, but have a great air game.

I know. I'm just talking out against FOX ONLY NO ITEMS FINAL DESTINATION type playing.
Which isn't bad either, but I like my variation.
If Ridley was to get in, then obviously he'd have to be small enough and not much bigger than Bowser if at all. ^When did that become a trope?

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayFox was the first character I used in the first Super Smash Bros so I'm used to fast, high jumping characters with a lot of quick attacks.
Also Mario. Not too heavy, not too light, not too slow and not too fast. Ignoring that a lot of characters apparently outrank him, I always consider him the middle way.
Also the character for whom the franchise is named.

I dunno. Seems to have been around for a while. It could use a better name, but I remember it under the current one. It's a useful trope.
Has anyone come up with a possible moveset for Ridley or Ray MK.whatever? Ridley could have some throws as aerials and an Up+B. I know moves for Dark Samus / Metroid Prime, Isaac and Isa & Kachi were suggested, but I don't remember where they were.
Fox was the first character I used, because reflector against Master Hand for the wind.

Put it this way:
If a computer player gets a cloaking device, humans can't see them but they can see humans.
If a human player gets a cloaking device, they can't see themselves but the computer can.
pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSI'm not really into shipping, but Little Mac and Wii Fit Trainer are made for each other.

...something I just realized.
Master Hand is the right hand that floats on the right.
Crazy Hand is the left hand that floats on the left/
If they were connected to some invisible body, that body wouldn't be behind the stage where Final Destination is apparently flying through, but where we are.
Or the body is underneath the stage like some kind of evil hand puppeteer.
