I see Word of God on sizes.
Then again, we knew for a fact characters don't always follow canon size, so this isn't anything new. Just more hitting it home that size never mattered. Or at least doesn't always. We don't know exactly if he ever takes size into account, and the actual wording implies sometimes it's irrelevant.
Shadow?I saw some comments on Samus's age earlier and I wanted to add..
You know she's part Metriod now too. Who knows how old she is. :P

Sakurai: I am planning on doing my best to bring old characters back in Smash Bros. From that perspective, I am probably in the most fortunate position in the world.
Metroid has some pretty indicative titles.
Prime, Echoes, Corruption, Fusion...
I can think of only one that is non-indicative, and isn't a number or Super Title 64 Advance.
I have a message from another time...My "Goku" for this game is probably Spat.
I know it'll never happen, but at least the game he was in was published by Nintendo.

Mine's Travis Touchdown. Probably the biggest third-party wii title, and it just feels like he doesn't get his due. Hell, he can be the second Fire Emblem rep.
FUCKHEADS
nyo ho ho![]()
Thus the Goku bit.
And I honestly don't know if he was in the anime first, or whether he's a Canon Immigrant.
It was a Manga in 1997, way before the Anime or Games.
That answers that, then. He's not possible.
When Cartoons characters are, something is more odd. For the record, I think he probably meant Cartoons and related Comics were out too, since they're kind of the equivalent to Anime/Manga in Japan.
However, movie is another story. I mean, on one of the poll lists, James Bond was on it, after all. I don't know if he'd even consider anyone from anything but originating in video games, but he does not actually point that out as an official criteria. However, that's Brawl's criteria, and not 4's. I do not know the thoughts on that one.
Shadow?
I don't believe he showed up in the lesser known manga or books.
They suffer from Adaption Displacement.
Hamtaro had, I think, three games pùblished by Nintendo. One was for Game Boy Color (and I once read that it was unlikely to have it here in the Americas).
Ahhh, good memories with that Mexican magazine.
Back on topic, I think the reason why Sakurai doesn't want characters from other media in the series is less about the concept of video game characters duking it out, and more about the potential Fan Dumb that would result over wanting to have characters from X or Y series in the game. Oh, so Goku made it into Smash? Squeeeeeee~!!! Now please add Naruto next, or maybe Luffy, or maybe Kamina, or maybe Madoka, or maybe Light Yagami, or maybe the blue-haired girl from the Pop Chaser episode of Cream Lemon. You get the idea.
Plus, there's already Jump Ultimate Stars and Magical Battle Arena anyway (yes, I know they're Japan-exclusive, but still).
135 -> 180 -> 273 -> 191 -> 188 -> 230 -> 300 -> 311

I'll just take that quote as another instance of trolling until proven otherwise in a court of law.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
