I'd say Little Mac would be considered this game's "retro" character, but we did get the Wii reboot a couple of years back (it's where his design in this game comes from, after all) to bring the series back into relevancy, so... yeah, she could.
Mr. Game & Watch was retro too upon his first appearance in Melee. So who knows. R.O.B. arguably counts if you ignore Mario Kart DS, but namely it depends if you mean "he's a retro character since his games are retro" or not. I only note this since we don't really know exactly how Sakurai views this.
Regardless, Little Mac isn't really retro since Punch Out Wii anyway. He's a pretty modern guy now. However, his playstyle does appear to be based upon some of his retro stuff, but that's not too odd for new characters to show off stuff from early games. Sonic does that, after all.
Shadow?I don't know if it's been brought up (too many pages to flip through), but IGN has an interesting theory for the KO bar.
It's a charge metre, and a warning to other players, because Mac apparently has super armour while charging it. That's how they balance the OHKO. There's a huge wind-up, and visible warning when it's dangerous to get too close to Mac.
Someone saw the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure resemblance and did something funny.

Just something interesting to kick-start discussions.

Here we go again.
On completely unrelated topic, this
might be the only time we really have seen the platform in Skyloft. Also, the Boxing Ring is surprisingly wide.
I see.
I couldn't agree more with both of these statements

Felix is completely superior to Isaac though (Felix learns one field ability Isaac can't)
Edit: Poseidon is the most powerful, notorious and important boss in the entire series (well, Alex would be more important but we have not fought him yet)

Buldogue's lawyerNot Saturos, Menardi, Karst, Agatio, Blados, or Chalis?
Any one of hem has more dialogue and overall story importance than Poseidon, who really is mostly just a way to prevent you from entering Lemuria until you've sufficiently explored.
All that said, I think I'd rather take Sveta as the scond rep.

I have a message from another time...Super Smash Bros needs more villains and aside from Saturos, the rest are all Dual Bosses. Only the Dark Dawn pair are really "villainous" anyway and they are pretty lame in combat, mainly spamming items.
Anyway, the suggestion of Poseidon is slightly sarcastic, I don't think the series should have two spots off the bat, but if we did get another I want a villain and Poseidon seems as viable as any, given what we have to work with.
Buldogue's lawyer

You think Lip could be Smash 4's Ice Climbers/Pit? I mean it's not the first time a really old retro character with few game appearances got in. And she's still popular in Japan and was considered for Smash before.
