The original Punch-Out game hit arcades this month. I think that's the real reason.
That his "reveal portrait" has its top half taken almost straight from the original game makes it more suspect.

pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSSo, two things I noticed in the reveal trailer...
- The music in the beginning is totally a Rocky-style version of the Punch Out music.
- That candy bar Mac is eating in the end of the trailer totally keeps regenerating itself.
I actually called Little Mac, but I thought it would be a Trailer Spoof like Rosalina because Mac and DK have a special relationship.
Mac has a really interesting design. With what looks like a projectile-avoiding dash/jump, lots of combo potential and the way his power meter works, he's something I would expect to see in a 2D fighter like Street Fighter or King Of Fighters (in fact, he feels a bit like Dudley with a bit of Vanessa thrown in).
This is the second time I've felt this way about a newcomer, too: Rosalina feels very 2D fighter-ish as well, though for different reasons.
So... who's replacing Mac as the Punch Out!! assist trophy, I wonder? Hopefully Bald Bull (and if there are bosses, I hope we get Mr. Sandman).

Guys. You know what this means right.
If King Hippo is an assist trophy and Mother Brain is too, that means we only need an Eggplant Wizard AT to complete the Captain N recurring antagonist trifecta.
pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSGlass Joe is pretty iconic, I thought. But it'll almost definitely be King Hippo if there is one, I figure.
Mike Tyson himself would be amazing, but they probably don't want to bother paying for that, and I don't think he was in the Wii remake, anyway.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I thought Bald Bull was most iconic outside Little Mac. He does have the most appearances in the series besides Mac himself, after all. The Bull Rush is one of the most well known attacks in the game (not that the game is known for well known attacks, granted).
I wouldn't mind a Glass Joe assist trophy either.

One thing I noticed about the trailer: We couldn't ever see it in the previous videos and screenshots (Or maybe we just never noticed it), but up high in the boxing ring stage is a digital ticker that displays "Punch-Out!!". I guess it really is a Punch-Out!! stage.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!King Hippo is certainly more visually interesting than Bald Bull, but I guess gonks are wont to.
pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDS@Known: Well, I've never actually played Punch-Out...But Wikipedia says King Hippo is one of the most iconic characters. It also gives lots of sources for that. And the article for Bald Bull is a stub in comparison.
Also, "King Hippo" has more than double the results than "Bald Bull" on Google (both in quotes).

Huh, looking at Club Nintendo, Punch Out is being offered as a Wii U VC reward game this month. Somehow I doubt that's a coincidence.
