You're too fast!
Well now...
◊ If that didn't confirm King Dedede's Memetic Molester's statues, nothing else will. XD
Yeah, it looked like that to me too. There'd better be one of Diddy's bananas off-screen.
Edit-ninja'd.
@Irene: Sonic Wind is the name of one of Sonic's attacks in Sonic Adventure 2.
@Enlong: What's sly about that pose? Is it a kamehameha reference?

This pose
◊ is also the aftermath of a trip, isn't i?
Considering Sakurai's previously saying that there is no random tripping, I'm thinking bananas.

I have a message from another time...
Possible.
Sadly, I have no evidence, thanks to Lucario air-dodging in that frame.
I thought I had evidence that it's a cooperative boss fight. My evidence was that Mario's kick is too close to not be hitting Lucario if they weren't on a team.
And then I noticed that Lucario is air-dodging.
Sakurai is a master-class troll.

I have a message from another time...I doubt the sweep mechanics left.
Either way, Sakurai didn't even say random tripping was gone
(or the translator failed to say it was random he meant, or he didn't know Sakurai was referring to that, since the "question" presented didn't say what kind of tripping either), so we need to wait for a better statement or to find out when the game actually comes out. Lots of annoying vague crap, sadly. I hope the random one is gone, but who knows what he meant. -shrug-

Shadow?Okay.
Sakurai said tripping is gone.
We could either interpret that to mean that all forms of tripping are gone, or that random tripping is gone. The third option, that banana peel tripping is the only thing gone, is frankly illogical, and would make his statement false.
So, here we have these screenshots where Lucario is definitely doing something that looks like the tripping animations.
The only conclusion I can draw from that is that Sakurai meant that random tripping was gone, and that Lucario is tripping on a Banana in that picture. I can't think of any other conclusion hat doesn't make his previous statement false, barring stuff like "it looks like the tripping animations, but it's something different entirely"
His statement was ambiguous, but now we have more data.

I have a message from another time...Lucario could've actually got new animations too.
Either way, the screenshot shows zero items, so there's no real way to tell what actually happened. Random Tripping may be back. Sakurai can go back on his statements, after all. That's not even including the fact that we don't know what tripping he meant. I wouldn't be surprised if he removed sweeping moves instead(like Sword Cutter for Link's Down A. I don't mean the Banana Peel or Diddy's version, to clarify, when I say sweeping moves).
Hell, he could've been mistranslated. Sadly, that link is a pretty poor confirmation overall. It's vague as hell. :/

Shadow?Actually, we don't even have access to the actual interview in the first place.
Our confirmation Link just said it happened. It's the best we got, but once we see the game for ourselves, we'll know the truth.(well, fully assuming he never changed his mind under any time during development when he removed some kind of tripping, respectively)
Shadow?I can see the banana peel kinda, yeah. And even if he isn't tripping, couldn't he still be, say, rocketing towards the ground at stupidly fast speeds?
ANYWAYS, LUCARIO yesh. First of all, any "leak" saying Lucario was getting the axe has been debunked, and part of me thinks that this means Ike has higher chances (as a lot more people are making the Brawl>4 jump than anyone predicted).

Huh. Was not expecting Lucario to be next.
