Just there with more unique moves than Falco ever had.

A lot of other characters were "just there" as well. Such as Toon Link.waii

[up][up]I'm not denying that. But Wolf solicited no fucks from me. At least Falco had memes and appeared in the story.

Toon Link is fine by me, actually. Young Link bothered me.

I wish there was a resolution for the Jigglypuff in the Pokemon anime. If only Misty or Brock caught it.

Falco could use some more declonification, but he's still a way better fit than Krystal.

How's Falco a better fit than Krystal? He's definitely a good fit; any member of Star Fox with hand-to-hand combat prowess is, but that only makes him as good a fi.

He's been in more games overall, and is the closest thing to a second-in-command.

Also, Krystal is hated in Japan.

...If I'm being frank, purely from a gameplay perspective, I prefer Falco over Fox. In Melee anyway. Air combos with the Shine is a lot more fun than hitting the opponent and running after them. Plus the meteor.

It's subtle, but the difference is there.

[up] And Waluigi, Medusa, and Krystal too.

Nice unique characters that'd add some spice to the game.

Not just nothing but pure heroes, but a lot more variety.

Eh, what does Super Smash Bros need more of, villains or females?
It could use a few more females, villains and non-bipeds. Metroid Prime is all three of these things in one!
Pious Augustus has a staff in Eternal Darkness, A staff gets passed around between the Solar Empresses and Kaiser Vlad in Battalion Wars ii, Medusa has a staff in Kid Icarus: Uprising (as do Jenna, Ivan, Mia, Sheba, Karis, Reif and Himi if we are talking third string characters). There are few people I would rather see in Super Smash Bros before Krystal, even with "the magic staff she hardly uses" excuse. If we were to get a funny animal I'd rather have Dixie Kong or maybe Bubbles from Clu Clu land.
I did not mention Paluntena but thanks for it. Oh, and the Ocarina Of Time version of Phantom Ganon (I mean, if we can have two Links), Anna and Hoy Quarlow. I'd take Starpy as an animal girl too (unlikely as that is).

No really, the unique quality of Krystals staff is a shield (everyone in Smash Bros has a command shield) and fire (nearly have the cast has fire attacks). Yeah, a staff in of itself would make her standout a little but there are plenty of others who have that same advantage, some of whom would not be the second or third character from a franchise or otherwise more distinct than Krystal. At least Wolf still antagonizes Star Fox, even if they are prone to enemy mines/The Only One Allowed to Defeat You and for the staff argument there are plenty of weapons in the Star Fox games available if Wolf or Falco really do further separation from Fox's moveset (Wolf just needs a new final Smash, Gatling Gun/Demon Launcher/Demon Sniper/Nova Bomb/Plasma Cannon-take your pick, then pick another for Falco). I suppose I would be not mind Krystal replacing Falco as much as Wolf (because even if he is not a major villain anymore he is still the more criminal counterpart rival mercenary to Fox).

Commanding the same element does not mean they'll have the same moves.

Please give a different reason that... would make sense. I can understand some preferring others, but she won't be like other characters with her staff moves.

That sounds a bit hostile. We should probably try to avoid confrontational language, given how topics usually turn out in this thread.

It's also got a directional ice-blast move (I'm imagining freezing version of Bowser's breath), an earthquake thing, and the various physical combos.

No it does not, but how does she command that element. Pew pew fire balls and a flame jump (which incidentally are moves others already have). I don't know, Pious's ability to channel dragon lines through the floor through disembodied instant runes call upon a seven point intercepting auto shield, leave behind damage fields and summon all kinds of eldritch and undead creatures seems a lot more interesting. He was the driving villain of his game rather than a side character so there is that too. The Battalion Wars staff commands a kill sat in addition to making the user immune to bullets and being used at the same time as WWII atheistic weaponry. Nobody from the Nintendo Wars series has any spot on the roster yet, unlike Star Fox, so there is that too.

I could go on with that tangent but just as much, Fox could have the magic staff incorporated to make him more distinct from Wolf and Falco. He uses the thing more than Krystal. Okay, we did play as Krystal for a bit, but no more than we have already did as Falco or Slippy (okay, not all of us may have, them being optional segments). I would not even particularly mind Krystal replacing Falco(But not Wolf) yet at the same time I don't mind Falco in Smash Bros Brawl at all. Aside from the land master he is different enough from Fox for me and I like seeing him fight Captain Falcon, to see that reference come full circle or making a Blue Bird team with Dedede. It seems strange that jumping back to short role Krystal took and Fox took longer has been so prevalent in the fandom. Fox spent more time with Tricky than she did with that stick, maybe Tricky should be part of Fox's move set. He could throw mushrooms or something to command him.

Edit:I will just concede Enlong's point and call it a night. Night!

Those are some very good ideas. All of them being a good example of the fact that there are almost as many ways to depict a magic staff as there are ways to depict a punch. Let's have them all, in addition to Krystal.

Fox having a completely different moveset won't sit well with fans. It's why Ganondorf got barely changed up. The only reason some don't mind him getting changed up is because a lot thought he was supposed to have a sword in the first place(he even has one programmed into his model).

Fox should not become a Staff user. If we're talking about giving him a move or two where he hits someone with a staff, perhaps his Forward Smash charging a different element as he stabs forward, fine. In a similar motion to Marth's Brawl Shield Breaker, perhaps. But if we're talking about changing his entire moveset into a Staff user-based one? Definitely not. That's not what he does. Small changes are fine. Complete revamps where the character is entirely different from their previous self? Not so much. I want to play Fox as he is, tweaked to a degree at most. He was still similar to his 64 self, although I'll be honest, Falco actually felt like 64 Fox anyway. To a degree.

If somebody should have the Staff and its powers, just give it to Krystal. If Krystal can't get in, leave the Staff out. Of course, she should be a trophy with it, but yeah.

A very technical update. Well, here's hoping we get someone on Friday.
