Honestly, other than the great maze and a few others levels which shall not be named, I liked sse.

What Etheru said. I liked the idea of being able to replay certain areas as is.

Maybe you could go through it once with each character, and then have a level select format as well. Similar to Sonic Adventure 2, but the level select is more like their Chao World, where all can enter it.

Let's say you go through every level with Link first. Now he can enter any specific Level in the Level Select at any time. But until Mario goes through the whole thing, he's exempt from using the Level Select and so on. It's a decent way to combine both modes, despite the loss of cutscenes. I still wonder if it'll be a carbon copy of Melee's or not. It could even be slightly different from the SSE, but less to go through, like you choose your starting characters and go through each area.(imagine SSE with no cutscenes and no forced character selecting. The former thing is admittedly lame, but the latter would not be. Let's be honest, did anyone actually enjoy being forced which characters to use at all? This is not a rhetorical question. I don't know anybody who found it a good idea, and if somebody didn't mind, fair enough)

It'd probably be better to have a stage selection function from the start, rather than have them run consecutively like in Melee. That way, the first run of any given stage could be locked to a single character, with unrestricted character selection becoming available once the next stage unlocks. Perhaps a configuration similar to Adventure Mode could be a seperate challenge unlocked after every stage is beaten.

That could also work. Or maybe have you beat it with some of the characters. At least one has to finish all the stages to unlock them. If possible, they could give alternate paths(think Super Mario World) to unlock, and only some characters could do it. Like one might require a lot of high jumps, so guys like Sonic, Fox, or Pit could get there better.

I do not see why agile and flexible means it has to be light and frail looking. Samus did wall jumps and building swings just fine in the Super Metroid, Samus had the high stretch leg snap in last three Super Smash Bros games. Its supposed to augment her strength, take lethal blows and give them right back. To be able to outright run through opposition. More over, her true form is supposed to be shrouded in mystery.

This, this, this, even this show a some armour with a sense of weight on them and an alien feel you could see people questioning. Personally the Prime (in the waist and legs) and Smash Bros suits (in the shoulders) were already too slimmed down for my tastes but the M suit is wasp wasted, too rounded, too slim and too form fitting. Form fitting armor is kind of a pet peeve trope of mine anyhow (yes, send impact directly into the organs beneath it, a great benefit to wearing a hot heavy thing that makes loud footsteps. Yes, I said the M suit has much less sense of weight but its still going to be clanking around because its metal) plus it just lacks feelings of power, sturdiness, thatmaynotbealadyorevenhumaness.

I am kind of reminded of how people said Ang Lee's Hulk looked weightless, but at least that wasn't from lack of trying. He was still wide and deep.

Also, I kind of miss when Samus used to look like this◊.
I would have preferred a more realistic look like Prime went with too but I could do without the gag lips.

Eh, I can see why you didn't like it, but I personally liked it as much as the Prime and Super/Brawl designs. (My favorite suits are still Dark and Fusion, though.) I'm also willing to forgive any practical flaws because Rule of Cool.

To each their own, I don't see why I need to convince you that the Other M design rocks. Nor do I see why you need to convince me the Other M suit is terrible.smile

I see nothing in there that suggests a Melee-esque adventure mode. People here seem to keep applying that meaning for no reason.

Again, lateral thinking is quite possible. It does not follow that our options are "Melee Adventure Mode" or "Subspace Emissary 2: Dedede's Boogaloo" and nothing in between or completely distinct between them

(that said, i'm wholly of the camp that a Melee-esque adventure mode would be bad, but I do think Sakurai is aware that a mode that is lengthier in playtime is more or less expected at this point)

Regarding today's pic, it does kinda look like Somnom Woods from Mario and Luigi: Dream Team.

Though I doubt M&L will be represented outside of at most music, like in Brawl.

So if we're not getting a Story mode, does that mean no more Stickers, you think?

There's clearly some kind of sage progression mode, so I think stickers are here to stay.

Here's hoping Sticker Battles are a thing.

[up][up]I hope not D:

The concept of Stickers themselves were great! A collection of artwork and sprites from across Nintendo history was a great idea! It's just... I never used them to actually boost my stats in SSE. ^_^;

[up]Ooh, that's a nifty idea.

I doubt he'd go that far, especially considering how easy the feature as a whole seems to implement.

Not necessarily. As Ogodei said, we know very little.

You don't need cutscenes at all to have Stickers. You could have Melee's Adventure Mode while having Stickers. Hell, the Stickers don't need to have any use besides collecting, just like Trophies. I find them really cool as is.(also, allow us to turn off Stickers in multiplayer just because >_>)

I think they might come back myself, regardless of use. It's a quick way to get references in without being forced to make a model for characters without them. And the development team is trying to get it out in 2014, so doing that will save them more time to fine-tune characters, courses, items, and the actual modes.

The only time I ever used the stickers was the "trophy base drop" stickers for getting boss trophies.

I used a ton of different ones. Some for Item Drops, but others for things like Launch Resistance, some various Attacks. I really loved their use overall, and it did make SSE much more fun to replay overall. It also made collecting Trophies a lot easier.

Augh, can't remember. I'll look it up, I don't have my Wii hooked up and I havn't transferred my data to my Wii U yet.

OK yeah, Weavel is one with that effect, and I think he is a random drop.

I mainly used the Trophy Stand Drop stickers while I still needed those, then once I got them all I mainly used Sticker Drop stickers. Though I do generally apply the other assorted bonuses, like attacking power. It doesn't really seem to have too much effect, but customizing the fighters was fun.

Whether or not they have any effect, it'd be cool to have 'em return.

How about an Adventure Mode that is similarly applied to Classic Mode, but more focused on platforming and enemy fighting through a sizable world, maybe with different types of challenges? For instance, there could be 8 stages in any "adventure", each one taking maybe 3-10 minutes to complete and with the possibility of saving midway. Similar to Brawl's classic mode, it could set a number of "categories", but what you get out of the categories is random each time, so it's hardly ever the same.

For instance, Stage 1: Platform: Stage Types: Mario, Yoshi, Sonic
Stage 2: Maze: Types: Zelda, Ninja Castle, Pokemon (a la Mystery Dungeon)
Stage 3: Arena Battle (like a normal Smash Bros match but on a super-sized stage with enemies but also enemy player characters): Fire Emblem, Star Fox, Game and Watch
Stage 4: Mid-boss (a whole pantheon of mid-bosses from every "game type" represented in Smash Bros, one is generated at random for this stage)
Stage 5: Platform round 2: Megaman, Kirby, DK
Stage 6: Maze Round 2: Metroid, Pikmin, Kid Icarus
Stage 7: Arena Battle Round 2: F-Zero, Ice Climber, Mother
Stage 8: Final Boss (pantheon of final boss monsters from every game type, even if they have to make one up for stuff like Animal Crossing)
No story, but more involved, and not repetitive like Melee's.

If there was still a story mode, I'd advise something like a Ganondorf-possessed Tortimer.
