[up]I wouldn't go that far—I think it's pretty safe to say most major Nintendo Directs from here on out will probably have newcomers attached to them, if not veteran reveals.

If the next Direct is in February, I wouldn't be surprised to see Little Mac.

We'll likely get one more newcomer reveal before E3.

Question Time! If Fire Emblem Awakening got an Assist Trophy, and it wasn't allowed to be Chrom, Lucina or the Avatar, who would you choose?

I choose Frederick. When summoned, he will say "Pick a god and pray!" and charge forward on his horse, twirling his lance like he does in his crit animation. Anyone hit by him when twirling his lance gets caught in the attack. When he reaches a certain distance, he strikes forward with his lance, doing large damage and knockback to foes who got hit by the finishing blow.

Lissa, who would randomly make use of either a Mend Staff to heal 20%, or a Rescue Staff, teleporting her summoner to her location after a short delay.

Or Noire, who would make use of a Rain of Arrows with the Double Bow while cackling madly.

I sure said that!

The trophy activates. Nobody appears and the match continues. Then suddenly one opponent is hit by a single normally fatal blow.

If you pause at the right time, you see it's Kellam as an Assassin using Lethality.

[up][up][up]I'd say the healing option. The opponent would just use the latter to camp around Lissa's location.

Oh, are you guys talking about Fire Emblem again?

I swear, we should just make a "Fire Emblem representation in Super Smash Bros" thread and be done with it.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

Tiki.

She'd appear, transform into a dragon, and spits radiant flames at the enemy.

But I'd still prefer playable Tiki.

Side note; why is it that people always seem to call Robin "The Avatar"? S/he does have a default name, after all.

That default name varies by region, though.

@0dd1: At this point, I agree. It's gotten oversaid a lot. But then again, a lot of things could have their own thread now. [lol]

Eh, not sure who for Assist Trophies myself. Maybe one of the... Dragon Riders, I think they're called?

Tiki would probably be my pick for a new FE assist trophy too.

[up][up]Then have different versions of the game change his name? It's not hard. Bowser, Mega Man, and Rosalina are names changes for the US after all.

[up][up][up]I bring up a Fire Emblem topic, one that isn't causing fights and causing others to participate, and now people are saying no more FE talk!?

[up][up][up][up] Not what I meant. I was just asking why the character is called "The Avatar" insead of by his/her default name.

[up][up] More people than that are contributing to the civil FE talk, htough.

Official nomenclature, since they're meant to be fully customizable.

I think in Super Smash Bros, the hierarchy is, from top to bottom:

  • Tier 1: Fighter
  • Tier 2: Assist Trophy/Pokeball
  • Tier 3: Stage character
  • Tier 4: Regular Trophy
  • Tier 5: Sticker

People would likely prefer to have more characters than less, but they might sometimes be satisfied with tiers 2 and 3. Tier 4 is a sad miss, but tier 5 is almost unknown.

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay

Just having representation alone is nice.

In any of those categories. Fighter is far harder to reserve for than the rest.

Then you have guys like Sigurd or Seliph. Very popular in their fandoms, but so old that they don't even reach tier 5. Truly sad.

Stickers are just barely more notable representation than having your game listed in the Chronicle.
