That's pretty satisfying, no cuts and some much-wanted newcomers.

I'd have preferred Medusa honestly, but Palutena is good too.

[up][up] Man, I totally Failed a Spot Check there. It took me a minute to realize that Ridley was there. And K. Rool, to a lesser extent, seeing as he's much smaller than Ridley.

I hate it.

No new Wario newcomers. Chrom being in. Diddy being a tag-team with Dixie. Ganondorf still having some Captain Falcon moves. The fact Bowser Jr wasn't even considered for being playable. Same Star Fox roster instead of adding Krystal. Pac-Man, nuff said.

"Wii Fit Trainer has a butt attack. It is replaced by a headbutt for the male costume."

There. Fake. Obviously Fake. Plus it's too suspect. Sakurai said not everyone would return. No cuts plus typical range of newcomers is typical of fakes.

Yeah, I'd have liked Krystal to get in also. But you can't have everything.

A Wario character would be nice, but Ashley being an assist trophy already disproved that.

[up]How does Ashley disprove it? There are at least two other major candidates: Mona and Captain Syrup. There are also others, but they are lesser characters.

I don't know. This rumour's roster plays it too safe. Plus the whole Wii Fit Trainer move is very suspect.

I think we should wait until after the game is out before getting disappointed. As Magcargo said, this supposed leak could be fake.

Also, on that collage of Ashley posts from the link I posted on the previous page, there are some hilarious reads. Mainly the ones that are all like "I CANCELLING MY PREORDER SAKURAI MADE A BAD GAME". There's also predictable "HURR DURR Wii Fit Trainer got in instead" stuff.

One guy said (while basing Rosalina) "Ashley is a popular character from a popular, long running series..."

And Rosalina isn't?

When did Wario Land Shake It come around again? You people did bring up any one new from Wario franchise and I was wondering when did the last Wario Land game come out.

Last platformer was from 2008 or 2009. But if you mean in General, Game & Wario was released last year.

I did know about Wario & Watch, but its sort of like that Wario Land and Wario Ware are becoming sort of their own series and not connected to eachother other than Wario is the start of both.

... Now that I think about it, I am not sure if either Mona or Captain Syrup had an edge over the other. I mean, it has been like 5 years since the last Wario Land came out but since we just got a Wario Ware, its unlikely that we will be seeing another one soon.

[up][up]Just you wait. There will be a Pokeball Pokemon even cuter.

[up]I haven't played either series, but moveset-wise I think Syrup has more potential (Yarhh, she be a pirate!). Also Wario Land is neglected in Brawl.

EDIT: I have a horrible feeling if either makes it in, they'll be under Base Breaker on the YMMV page with people hating them for getting in over Ashley.

EDIT EDIT: One of the Japanese comments on that collage translates as "You only like her because she is a skirt wearing loli". I thought they didn't hate loli over there because Values Dissonance.

I think that's just a stereotype. Some Japanese people probably make fun of their culture like some of us make fun of dudebro and grimdark stuff.

Interesting note—According to a couple of the forums I visit, a lot of the Japanese fanbase ignores characters Westerners tend to bicker over. Whenever they bring up Ridley and Little Mac for instance, it's usually more about their Western popularity than anything else.

So if either gets in, don't say Sakurai doesn't pay attention to the West.

Nobody gauges Human reactions from 4Chan. Unless it is from the deep, decaying recesses of the soul...

On topic, though, I think Meta Knight or Wario are strong possibilities of being revealed next. Although given the track record of releases it really could be anyone, considering besides revealing characters alongside new nintendo games its been pretty random.

Still, I would really love to see Waluigi. But I keep hearing that in Japan he's actually really disliked, to the point of being hated by some devs. Is that baseless rumor, or is there truth to it?

Uhhh no.

"Hated by devs", maybe. They left him out of Mario Kart 7. Then again, they're bringing him back for Mario Kart 8 (most likely due to backlash).

At the very least, I hope we'll see him as an assist trophy again.

Why are so many overreacting over Ashley? "Oh, no, the list of around 30 Nintendo characters doesn't include this one girl from half a decade ago!" Like what's the actual thought process behind these reactions? If people are cancelling their preorders over this, why did they preorder the game in the first place, seeing how she always had a pretty nonexistant chance of being included? Just her being an Assist Trophy was really damn unlikely. For that matter, why did they bother playing any of the previous games when none of them included Ashley?

...Ashley didn't even exist till after Melee. Brawl was the first time she could get in, and nobody was expecting Wario to get another character right away when he was in. Not many even expected him to represent his own franchise as is.

This is the first time she could legitimately get in whatsoever. She's also a character who could act like a mage(the kind with a wand or staff) and was very viable when it comes to a moveset. You could give her just about anything magic-wise and it'd make sense, albeit, due to her characterization, she'd probably have some downsides to her spells, since she "screws up often", in a similar sense to Pichu.

There's few viable females as well among Nintendo, and she's one of the more notable ones when it comes to moveset potential.

There's a difference between the Staff Chick trope and Krystal. The major difference being that Krystal's staff is designed for thwacking enemies, with magic attacks as an add-on. It's more martial-arts based than, say, a staff used by a White Mage.

...The point is we have tons of viable females and that Ashley was a great choice. The list of notable females is not notoriously high compared to males. And That's Terrible.

Regardless of what she'd play like, which was very much irrelevant to what I'm saying(as in no, the trope I posted wasn't ultimately the point), she's there. She has potential with a staff, etc.

[up][up] I could see her repping the Paper Mario series. Not necessarily with a franchise symbol, but with her design and maybe some moves.

I'm not arguing against your main point. I'm just saying that Staff Chick is an imprecise trope to use for Krystal.

Simple Staff or Magic Staff are closer tropes.
