Does not compute.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMAll this talk about competitive scenes reminds me how much I'm not interested in it. I'm not trying to put it or its suporters down in any way; I'm just saying I can't find enjoyment for me in it, and this is true for every game I've played.
Yeah, I'm also a bit baffled there.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."I read that they made him slightly faster and lighter to fit in with the other Space Animals. This just rubbed me the wrong way, if only because it seemed pointless.
@Magcargo: Every game has flaws, like Melee or Brawl. Those things do not prevent me from appreciating the game, even if I wish they weren't there.

"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Re: Tripping
I kinda liked tripping for comedic purposes, but am glad it's gone.
I'd have made it a toggleable option, but then nobody would use it anyway. As long as we still have banana peels for a similar but nonrandom effect, I'm happy. There's just something hilarious about watching Ganondorf, king of evil, lunge at his enemies only to stumble and fall flat on his rear.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! And? Your argument was that Toon Link didn't have his full potential because he made Vanilla Link not have his full potential. I can think of a couple arguments regarding creativity, but that argument is as backtracking as it is insane.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!
No my argument was Toon Link being a clone is not his full potential. And by full potential I mean "all the exciting, new different stuff he could have had" not "better at fighting".
The Link comparison was a tangent. There is no point in having two Links playing the same because one is inevitably gonna be better.
The only Insane Troll Logic here is that you confused the regular Link part and then claimed it was "backtracking".

It's not an official Smash Bros. It is a mod. Even if Project M didn't suck the fun out of everything, it is still not "the best Smash Bros game so far" when it's not a real Smash Bros game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMWell, to be fair, I think the people making the mod simply wanted more tourney-viable stages than just the typical ones. It's just that in order to do so, they had to do it over the old stages like how when people create characters they mod a pre-existing one rather than a completely new one.
I couldn't really care less either way, as I just prefer to play on Fountain of Dreams and Battlefield anyway, but I can sorta see where they're coming from.

Every five posts it's the same stuff, I swear...
Toon Link needs to stop cribbing off regular Link and use some stuff from his own Toon Link games, because there's no reason for him having such a similar moveset other than...I really don't even know at this point. It's silly.
Regular Link can then get tweaked a bit to move a little quicker, and maybe change a move or recovery or something to reflect Skyward Sword and Zelda U a bit.
There, argument solved.

Then make the hazards optional or something. Don't just take them out. Some people like them. Also what's the point of having more stages if they're pretty much identical once you remove the hazards? Norfair, for example, is basically Battlefield if you remove the lava.

There's a lot more to making a competitively viable stage than just hazards. Walk-off stages, for instance, give an advantage to characters that have chaingrabs since it gives them more room to do so and an easy way to get them off the stage. They wanted to mod over the stages that had those rather than the ones they could simply turn hazards off. Which they do, in some cases.
And the stages aren't identical identical. Rumble Falls in Project M has a semi-soft base with a soft platform in the middle and two platforms at the top-right and top-left. It's not exactly exciting differences, but it's not Battlefield either.

I was actually surprised when I read the banned stages page on Smashwiki and learnt walk-off stages are banned.
Project M ruined Rumble Falls. All they had to was get rid of the cheap death spikes and it would be fine.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMSounds like a problem that could be solved by taking out chain-grabs entirely, like infinite combos in more traditional fighting games. Or is really the hability to keep a character from doing anything indefinitely really that essential in the competitive scene?

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Regarding Project M, the only problems I have with it are A. turning Rumble Falls into a generic "_-_" stage (I understood why they did this considering it's basically an Icicle Mountain clone, but it feels a lot less unique) and B. the entire existence of Dracula's Castle. If you're not going to mod in Simon Belmont or an equally famous Castlevania character, that's just blatant fanboy-ism.

pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSNo, your argument was "Toon Link being a clone is not his full potential because not having all the different stuff he could have had makes Vanilla Link not reach full potential!" and it's as ridiculous as it sounds!
And they do not play the same. They have the same moves yes, but they do not play the same. They play different and will always play different thanks to their differing properties. If "not playing the same" is what you're basing your argument on, then it's shot to hell before it even started.
Also for fucks sake, you claim that this isn't about one being better than the other? Look at that last line and try to convince me otherwise.
Same moves |= Playing the same
And with that, I'm done with talking about clones.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!

Some of his moves were altered for sure, but I don't think they were made similar to Fox or Falco.
