Kinda like how Ness could use PK Fire and PK Thunder in Earthbound, right? (the joke is he can't and it doesn't matter because Smash takes liberties)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThis is kinda off-topic, but I wish Winged Pikmin were called Pink Pikmin. Consistency.

I agree with Rock Pikmin, but the Winged would still work as part of the colour-coding name system. Maybe it's just me.
Uniqueness |= Interesting
It's more how the character eventually work out against other characters and the stages that make them interesting. For clone characters to truly be clones, they'd have to play exactly the same and have the same advantages and counters from or against the same characters, and they'd have to work equally well or bad on the same stages. Different properties and gameplay mechanics ensures that they will have to play different from each other in order to bring out their full potential.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!If clones had full potential they wouldn't be clones. Let's use one of the best examples: Toon Link.
Toon Link is the Hero of Winds, star of Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass. In those games, you get all sorts of unique items not found in other games, or ones found in other games but work better here due to being more cartoony. Link pulling massive hammers out of Hammerspace, wearing Iron Boots, sending out Bombchus, gliding with a massive leaf. If they really wanted to live up to his Toony nature and make him represent the games he's from, he would have been given items and moves from these games.
If Toon Link was at his full potential, he'd be representing the unique items found in his games, rather than being a smaller faster Link who makes Vanilla Link suck in comparison. Heck if anything, Toon Link being a clone makes regular Link not reach his full potential.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThis is so wrong and so fucking hilarious at the same time.
For the record, Link would have always sucked, with or without Toon Link.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Link could've not sucked if they actually put some effort into making him useful and not give him gimmicky stuff like the Gale Boomerang. Has nothing to do with Toon Link being faster.
He was mid tier in Melee remember, just above Young Link. If they went off of that incarnation and sped up his attacks a bit and/or gave them some more oomf, he could probably be a good character regardless of anyone else.
Should I bring up tournaments?
For all the arguments we have over the competitive scene, they seem to be much more civil than everything else. Not saying much, but it's something.
Statement is accurate if the post referenced is changed to "Because seeing a different take on a character is actually rather interesting [compared to a non-clone character]"
Yes, but by having another character that has Link's moveset, it just highlights even more how much regular Link sucks.

They also hate Brawl and complain about the lack of wavedashing so I don't care if they like their clones or not.
Well stop changing it then.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMAssist Trophies!
What Assist Trophis do you guys want to see/what do you think Ashley and Skull Kid do?
I'd love it if Ashley made everyone wear colossal pants for a while.
edit:
But changing the topic is the most effective way I've found to return this thread to a ground state.
And I really don't care much if it's subtle. I mean, I think that ship sailed about the second time I did this.

I have a message from another time...![]()

The loss of wavedashing is a bother, but not a deal-breaker. There are, however, some things about Brawl, like the input lag, the stale-move nerfing, and various physics quirks that make it not terribly viable for competitive play.

pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDS

And seeing a completely unique character is far more interesting.
Anyway, Pikmin only has 3 games and doesn't need a second character. They can just give Olimar the Rock and Winged Pikimn.
