It also slightly raised hopes for people who wanted Captain Syrup or Mona.
I never said it didn't work in a fighting game, I said it didn't sound as good as the original.
Which Link?
Pit and Olimar were always safe.
Hawluncha would be better because Braviary wouldn't even work.

Olimar is the main protagonist of the Pikmin series. He is the star of the first two, and is in the third one (even playable in DLC) as well.
Also Pit would have been in even if someone else made Uprising. The point is Uprising gives him a reason to stay besides being a retro character.
I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Yes. She's an assist trophy and would have gotten a page on the site if she was a character.

Well I question how much Nintendo cares about Pikmin so it seems like a valid concern. Olimar, ROB, Toon Link, Pokemon Trainer and Lucario are the Brawl Newcomers that I wasn't sure about going into this game. I assumed most of the others would return in some form.

They promoted Pikmin 3 a lot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMSpeaking of Pikmin, I'm really hoping the lack of Winged/Rock Pikmin in Olimar screenshots isn't implying that we are getting a second Pikmin rep.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMNot to mention they'd be a clone. I mean, they'd probably have a unique Up Special where a Winged Pikmin carries them, but to control and organise your Pikmin you need to have Pikmin Pluck and Pikmin Order as specials.

Stop with the clone apologism.
Um... No.

Yeah it would, but I think he meant as a playable character.
Not really. It would be more like what they did with Ness and Lucas or Link and Toon Link where they gave them the same attacks just with slightly different properties. They'd still be close enough to count as clones.
This is also ignoring that I don't think Pikmin is deserving of a second character. It's not that big.
Why have rehashed movesets with slightly different properties when you could have characters who have completely unique movesets?
And since Sakurai said the roster won't be much larger than Brawl's, clones are more unfavourable than ever. Also, in a roster of that size, Pikmin would be a very low priority when it comes to getting a second rep.
Wario and Donkey Kong should get second and third reps respectively priority-wise.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMWell, using Pikmin doesn't necessarily mean hey'll use the same moves Olimar has. Perhaps a Pikmin 3 captain could be less Falco and more Wolf.
But I would like to see more Donkey Kong characters. If not K. Rool, then perhaps Cranky. Because Cranky is the closest we'll ever get to having Scrooge Mc Duck in Smash Bros.
I have a message from another time...![]()
Because seeing a different take on a character is actually rather interesting, because such characters require different strategies in order to succeed, and they play differently as well.
Lets say that one character gets 4-5 of the Pikmin while the other gets the rest. Besides plucking and throwing, the rest of the moves would be different because the Pikmin get different properties each. One might be versatile thanks to the Pikmin he gets, but could also be rather dependent on having the right Pikmin at the right time, while the other could be more limited, but also more stable and with more freedom in their attacks.
Cranky and his Pogo Stick would own so hard!

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!

I just feel that, while Hawlucha is awesome, Braviary would be the more unique one to play as.
If only because then someone could reskin it to be Ridley, or something.
Edit: I figure it would have a fighting style based around getting opponents in the air and keeping them up in the air with combos.
