Her boss at a place that serves food is a dog. OH&S! OH&S!

What you claim is not suited for a fighting game is far from Smash's greatest cases of Soundtrack Dissonance.
Ashley's Theme is fine in Smash.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThe Brawl version of Ashley's theme was catchy. The English version could only be Ashley like in her teens, but the Japanese version was still cool.
As for Ai no Uta, that's not really a good song to fight to. It's all about the Pikmin pledging to die for Olimar and not asking him to love them.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayBut it ruins the original song. How does a song that in its original form was played as "creepy monotone girl who will probably kill you" translate to "I'M A PEPPY QUIRKY CUTE 'LIL WITCH Y'ALL" without pretty much killing all of the impact of it?

Insert witty 'n clever quip here. And yet you claim the Brawl version is the dissonant one...

I have listened to the lyrics. The point is a creepy monotoned version would be even more out of place. Especially on a stage like Warioware.
Even ignoring the lyrics. Just the tone of the song.

Well then, I'd say they shouldn't have even bothered including it in the first place, then. (Unless they put it on the Luigi's Mansion stage, since it'd at least fit the mood of the stage there. It'd at least make more sense than the Tetris music they included...)

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.If there was any song in Brawl that I felt that way about, it was definitely this one:
Used a crappy sounding version of the accordion bit, then replaced what should have rightfully been epic electric guitar with what I can only describe as vocals provided by howler monkeys.
I don't care about Lyrical Dissonance. Soundtrack Dissownance is more noticable to me when it comes to songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyM@Mag: Pretty sure that's supposed to be pipes. Sounds almost like an ocarina, actually.
Eh. I see how the mood they forced into the arrangement fits the stage, but, not one, but TWO Tetris songs on a Luigi's Mansion stage just seemed very out of left field to me.
