[up]Holy crap I didn't even notice.

She's old enough to work at a pizza shop and drive an electric scooter.

Also, the place is apparently named for her? But her boss is a dog. [lol]

[up] I've always assumed that the name and logo of Mona Pizza is just a coincidence. Simply because it's funnier that way.

WarioWare is an exceedingly strange series.

I sure said that!

The front part of Ashley's hair look's like Takamaru's. [lol]

Can I just say that I was never into the Brawl version of Ashley's Theme? It completely strips the song of any and all mood beyond "j-pop" (if you could call that a mood), and it isn't even a good song for fighting either.

I never said I was into that song (or even knew of its existence before Brawl). That's completely irrelevant to what I said.

[up]What you claim is not suited for a fighting game is far from Smash's greatest cases of Soundtrack Dissonance.

Ashley's Theme is fine in Smash.

The Brawl version of Ashley's theme was catchy. The English version could only be Ashley like in her teens, but the Japanese version was still cool.

As for Ai no Uta, that's not really a good song to fight to. It's all about the Pikmin pledging to die for Olimar and not asking him to love them.

But it ruins the original song. How does a song that in its original form was played as "creepy monotone girl who will probably kill you" translate to "I'M A PEPPY QUIRKY CUTE 'LIL WITCH Y'ALL" without pretty much killing all of the impact of it?

And yet you claim the Brawl version is the dissonant one...

Have you even listened to the lyrics? Granted, they're a little more lighthearted than I said there, but hardly as peppy and upbeat as the Brawl version.

@Key, to quote your sig, "But where's the fun in that?"

Maybe it's just the musical purist in me, but I generally despise covers that miss the point of the original completely.

[up][up][up]I have listened to the lyrics. The point is a creepy monotoned version would be even more out of place. Especially on a stage like Warioware.

As for Ai no Uta, that's not really a good song to fight to. It's all about the Pikmin pledging to die for Olimar and not asking him to love them.

Even ignoring the lyrics. Just the tone of the song.

[up][up]Well then, I'd say they shouldn't have even bothered including it in the first place, then. (Unless they put it on the Luigi's Mansion stage, since it'd at least fit the mood of the stage there. It'd at least make more sense than the Tetris music they included...)

but I generally despise covers that miss the point of the original completely.

If there was any song in Brawl that I felt that way about, it was definitely this one:

Used a crappy sounding version of the accordion bit, then replaced what should have rightfully been epic electric guitar with what I can only describe as vocals provided by howler monkeys.

[up]I don't care about Lyrical Dissonance. Soundtrack Dissownance is more noticable to me when it comes to songs.

Tetris is all about assembling blocks if you think about it. Luigi's Mansion rebuilds itself.

...It's literally the only Mario course it fits if you go by that logic. I think it would've made more sense in Mushroomy Kingdom myself.

@Mag: Pretty sure that's supposed to be pipes. Sounds almost like an ocarina, actually.

[up] Eh. I see how the mood they forced into the arrangement fits the stage, but, not one, but TWO Tetris songs on a Luigi's Mansion stage just seemed very out of left field to me.

[up][up][up] YES. My favorite part of the song was always how it went from "stereotypical pirate BGM" to "let's rock". The Brawl version lessens the contrast between the two parts, and it's not as much fun.

[up][up] Oh, I quite agree. No idea where to put the other one. Maybe on Flat Zone or Mario Bros, or even 75m. Just somewhere on an old school stage.
