Roy's moveset was a complete mirror of Marth's with the only difference being the location of his sweet-spot and the self-damage effect on Blazer. This is not true for Ike.
And Ike has at least one thing in his moveset that is from his game. Aether, to be precise.
Why would Sakurai throw away a moveset that has been established and proven popular? It's not like he's likely to send Ganondorf packing any time soon. And yes, Chrom also can learn Aether, but it is nothing like the animation Ike uses. If Chrom gets in, it is far more likely to be alongside Ike than replacing him.
A Nd in that case, I'd rather Ike and Robin than Ike and Chrom.

I have a message from another time...What part of "nearing completion" and "as soon as possible" suggest it will take an entire year? This summer seems much more likely.
If you're going to get that specific, that's technically not Marth. I mean, it sort of is, but it's not the same physical person. It's Marth as he was for a moment in time, as represented by the spirit of a card. The DLC is weird. Also, it's DLC, not part of the game proper.
That's not Marth.
Exactly. This is what I've been saying.

Cutting Ike, the only lord besides Marth to be the star of more than one game, is "more fair"? What.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMMicaiah is exactly as recent as Ike is. She was created later, but her last starring role is the same as Ike's last starring role.
edit:
On Ike being he only other character with more than one starring role; that is true, but I think a character having more interesting abilities hat would make a fun fighter to play as should be a stronger deciding factor.
Thankfully for Ike, he's also got that.

I have a message from another time...Sakurai didn't switch out Fire Emblem characters, though.
He put more work into Ike first since he brought something unique with his playstyle.
Roy was already planned to be playable. But he couldn't finish him in time. That's the only reason Roy didn't make it in Brawl. He couldn't have been switched out. He had character data, showing he was meant to be there.
Shadow?Personally, I would've liked for both Shadow Dragon and Awakening to be linked from Marth's page.
Like: "Want to know more about Marth? Visit the official page for Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon! Want more Fire Emblem? Visit the official page for Fire Emblem: Awakening!"

You know, I've been meaning to bring that up. You're making a very big assumption about dummied out data whenever you use that as evidence. Unless you actually have a first-hand source, that could just as easily be junk code for characters that were planned initially and then cut for reasons other than deadlines.

Okay, so there must be something else we can blame Nintendo for. Like announcing a new Super Smash Bros game before Sora wanted to. In this case the torches and pitch forks would be slightly disproportionate and very belated but lets take em out anyway! Our mob should storm the next Seattle Mariners game and hold hostages on the ransom Nintendo hears our grievances.
Buldogue's lawyerOk, on the topic of characters, and because the thread is once again devolving into a debate over fire emblem characters, anyone else want Hawlucha to be in the next one, even as an assist trophy?
Maybe I missed something, but why does Nintendo need to receive any blame? Some people are just obsessively stubborn workaholics and won't stop working on something even when it's hurting them in the long run.

Hawlucha would be an interesting Pokeball Assist, I must admit. I don't think any Pokemon is an Assist Trophy though.

I'm really hoping for Q4.

You mean Pokéball Pokémon. Because they don't get Assist Trophies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMNintendo doesn't need any blame indeed. Silly complaint.
And other than Dixie Kong(she couldn't be made to work with Diddy), there is no explanation for why those characters were not finished in the data. Being that the game was pushed back twice, and we know for a fact most of the development was done on the SSE instead of anywhere else, it's the closest explanation we have that makes any logical sense. It's possible for other reasons, but I can't see any that matters. Clones clearly wouldn't be a reason with some already coming back anyway, so that means nothing for Roy whatsoever. And it doesn't explain Mewtwo either. I'd love it if Sakurai gave us more information.
But it's the most accurate we're going to get for why they didn't get finished overall.
Shadow?

Comparison is invalid.
