I still don't know why they couldn't get emulation to work. The PS 2 was the least powerful of its generation.
As for controllers, while mentioning Sony I have to say I really like the Dualshock. The gamecube controller is an improvement on the N64, but the Classic Controller Pro was a pretty good one.
I love the Xbox 360 controller. It's just so good.

The grip, the layout, the feel.
And you never really need to ever use the D-Pad, and when you do it's for something that's like a button press and not using it for movement.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMWell, there's those Hori sticks for fighters, at least, though frankly, I love using the DualShock set up for four-button fighters.
But yeah, I'm interested in seeing how Smash handles without the GCN's distinctive layout- The huge A button actually made sense for the control scheme.
I sure said that!As much as I love Nintendo, I can't deny that Sony wins in the controller department, at least in terms of sheer playability. Nintendo's are without question always more interesting, but the Dualshock family is way more intuitive.
Also, after spending time with the Dualshock 3 and 4, it bothers me that the Wii U uses digital triggers. Then again, the Gamecube's analog shoulders were part of my issue with the controller (too much room before the click), so apparently I'm hard to please on that front.
Anyway, back to Smash Bros. :P
So? That doesn't make it relevant to Smash Bros. It's a nothing anniversary, and there's already ample evidence that events like anniversaries and release dates only inform reveals, not decide them. Marth was revealed with absolutely no prompting, and there was no reveal for the release of X and Y. Assuming that Ice Climbers aren't in if they're not revealed at the end of this month makes no sense.
I didn't respond in time.
I am absolute garbage with a Wiimote. I'll mangle the controller before I can play Smash Bros with the Wiimote. I had friends who could do that and man did I give them such an ugly, scalding glare.
Sigh. I guess this means I'll have to excavate my house for my old Gamecube controllers and pray they're still working.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I except him coming back with ease.
I'm now expecting the Ice Climbers back, as they've made it practically clear by now that the number of onscreen characters don't seem like an issue. I'm of course assuming here.
As for when they show up, could be any time. But their anniversary and the NES'? It honestly seems like a great time to show it too. Especially if there's no Ice Climbers re-release/VC/etc. that seems to be showing up, meaning there's no real time to announce it, no new(or newly released, not to be confused with an entirely new game, just a new date of release) date that's relevant. If it does get a re-release again, then I see them linking it to that one, but otherwise, 29 seems a remotely decent timing.
Shadow?

From my understanding, they had the hardware for a PS 2 in it for that version. That's why it was so huge, and cost so much, compared to other versions.
I have a message from another time...
