That was the joke.
No one got back to me on why they want Robin specifically or how they'd rep his unique gameplay feature. I thought that'd make for some interesting discussion. Ah well.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Black Shadow would be pretty nice to have.
If only for the hordes of online players just sitting around attempting Falcon Punch reenactments, anyway.
IIRC, his moveset was basically the same as Marth's (same case with Falco, D.Mario, etc), only the sweetspot of his sword was in the center and his Shield Breaker had greater knockback at the expense of his HP.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI admit, it's been years, but I'd say he was more clonish than, say Fox to Wolf (if you folks have been describing Wolf correctly). I don't think Sakurai did much to make the Melee clones different other than change stuff like speed and the effects of their specials.
EDIT: Ninja'd.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Those wheels are so sharp. You could poke an eye out on it's polygons.
It's a pun?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI'd liek Robin for a few reasons. Robin's a mage main character in a sea of sword-wielders. Well Tactician, but the magic aspect is seen a lot more than the swordplay, even in cutscenes (Robin's signature move appears to be Thoron). I'd like a mage, because there's a lot more to Fire Emblem than swordsmen. There's spear-men, and hulking armor dudes, and mounted knights, and archers, and pirates, and mages, and people who can turn into dragons. Someone like Robin's a good start. Also why I'd like Tiki. Also, Robin's pretty important in the story, and even manages to tie back to the first game for reasons that are a massive spoiler. Basicaly, I want Robin as a way of showing off some aspects of Fire Emblem that haven't been represented thus far.
Which do you mean by unique gameplay feature? Are you talking about the magic knight tendencies of the Tactician class? Ignis, perhaps?
I do think Ignis would make a cool Final Smash. A flurry of Full-Contact Magic and Spell Blade attacks with a whole bunch of purple fire.
edit:
Roy's animations were basically identical to Marth's, but his damage sweet-spot was at the hilt of his blade, there was a fire effect on his recovery, and his neutral B did hella damage at full charge at the expense of burning Roy himself.
By comparison, Ike has a heavier fighting style, completely different Up and Side B moves, and a variant of Roy's neutral B hat involves stabbing the ground instead of swinging forward.

I have a message from another time...He's the face of the franchise and has appeared in the most games more than any other lord. Also is the protagonist of the very first Fire Emblem.

In a perfect world, there is a Nintendo-themed amusement park. You are stalking Diddy Kong across a twisting expanse of rollercaster tracks through the damp belly of Kongo Jungle. You'll get soaked in a Super Mario Sunshine-styled water ride. You'll leap like Mario over a series of symmetical green pipes, each leading to a different section of the park. And when you look down, you'll see mini-Petey Piranha plants fashioned around the base of the pipe.

It's similar to, say, using Pikachu or (on the Playstation side of things) Colonel Radec or Sweet Tooth. They're the most recognizable characters of the franchise they're from. In the case of Marth in America, accidentally.

HECTOR CHARGES INTO BATTLE!
The brother of Lord Uther of Ostia, best friend of Eliwood of Pharae and potential uncle to Roy of Pharae. Hector is brash, hardheaded, and very straightforward when it comes to achieving his goals. He taught himself in the way of the battleaxe, and as such his style is as wild as he is, but he makes up in his lack of skill with brute, killer strength.Attributes:
Walk Speed: Slow. Run Speed: Slow. Jump Height: Try lack of height. Fall Speed: Fast. Weight: Heavy.Like his potential nephew, Hector has a sweetspot at the hilt of his axe. The closer he is to the opponent, the more powerful his strikes will be. Weirdly enough, this fits with the Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors theme throughout the Fire Emblem series—he naturally has a hard time against the spacer Marth because swords beat axes. (Completely unintentional, just noticed)
And don't let those stats fool you—Hector has a hard time getting around the stage, but his attack speed is quick. He might have a bit of a hard time getting close to the opponent, but once he is, there's no stopping him.
Normals
- Neutral: A quick horizontal swing. Think Roy's.
- Side Tilt: Slams his axe down Fighter-style. Pretty damaging.
- Side Smash: Quickly leaps into the air and slams the ground in the way only he does. Massive power and knockback at the sweetspot.
- Up Tilt: Quick chop in the air. Not much special, mainly for juggling.
- Up Smash: Twirls his axe kind of like how he does with Armads during a critical. Hits multiple times, does decent knockback on the last blow.
- Down Tilt: Quick low chop. Close to the ground, good for edgeguarding.
- Down Smash: Quickly spins with the axe at his feet. Good knockback at the sweetspot.
- Dash: Shoulder rush. Good horizontal knockback.
- Neutral Aerial: Flips over with his axe. Okay knockback, I guess.
- Forward Aerial: A nice, fierce chop right in front of him. Really good knockback.
- Up Aerial: Strong chop at the air. Juggling tool.
- Back Aerial: A fierce horizontal swing. Good power to it, and quicker than forward aerial.
- Down Aerial: A meteor smash. Kind of self explanatory.
Specials
- Neutral B: Wolf Beil—Hector rushes in with a horizontal swing. Chargeable, which is indicated by Hector swinging his axe in his hand. Once moving, Hector has complete armor, and will absorb any hits that come his way. When charging, he has one hit of armor.
- Side B: Hand Axe—A boomerang-like projectile. Much, much less range than Link's boomerang, maybe a Mario and a half away at most. Really made to help Hector get in when his axes's range just doesn't cut it. (pun not intended) Not suited for power at all.
- Up B: Pouncing Beast—Hector makes a grand leap into the air and swings with his signature attack. Once he reaches his peak, he can only go down, a la Final Cutter. Has armor after the apex of the jump.
- Down B: Pavise—Hector stands for a moment. If he is attacked within the split second of its activation, the move will do no damage and he will be able to immediately act after. Think parrying, but with more emphasis on the timing rather than the execution of it.
Final Smash: Armads—Hector takes out the legendary axe, twirls it, and slams it on the ground, creating a shockwave. If the opponent gets hit by the shockwave, they will be paralyzed while Hector leaps into the air and hits them for humongous damage and knockback.
Too lazy to think of throws, that's the gist of it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI mean the whole "can be pretty much anything the player wants him to be", since he can reclass to anything that isn't gender restricted or someone's unique class. I dunno, I always felt that was a rather important part to what made him stand out as a unit.
...How does Robin tie to the first game again? I guess you could draw parallels to the fourth game, but otherwise I am drawing a blank here.
But yeah, I can kind of get the desire to rep parts of Fire Emblem that aren't sword guys with blue hair, but I personally feel that Robin would be more troublesome to implement faithfully (pretending that ever was a thing) than anything. You can easily take the whole "mage lord with swords on the side" thing with Celica and not have to worry about reclassing or how he actually looks or anything. Shrug. I do like the idea of someone like Tiki joining the...for?
If any of this makes sense.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Well, I always envisioned Robin being a Tactician/Grandmaster, as that class is unique to Robin and Robin's children.
We-ll, that's spoiler territory. How far into Awakening are you?
...to get to the point, have you learned of Robin's past yet?
I have a message from another time...I don't think you'd really have to worry about reclassing for Robin. That's hardly his/her main gimmick. I mean, I kept him as a Tactician/Grandmaster the whole game through.
You could totally stick to the magic knight thing he/she has going on and it'd be just as true to the character.
"We're home, Chewie."Wait. Wait. I was wrong. Robin doesn't tie into the first game. Not having played Shadow Dragon, I was mistaken as to who the titular dragon was. I knew that Tiki, and Naga, were part of the first game, so I assumed a certain other character also was. My bad.

I have a message from another time...To be fair, people think of their "default" classes as being true to a character. But it also depends exactly what you want that character to be like in Smash.
He/She, seeing as how many classes are workable, could have moves from a variety of classes. In a similar sense to how Mr. Game & Watch has a variety of moves from tons of games.

Shadow?

I'd figure it's worth getting the argument out of the way than just trying to ignore it and splitting conversations like you've all been doing, but really, if it's not directly related to Smash Bros...
Kiss and make up so that this Fire Emblem topic can move on, because I know jack about Fire Emblem other than that Marth and Ike are abused in fan fiction for some strange reason; this talk about Ike and Chrom ain't doing it for me.
Edit: And now I have the pagetopper. Dang it.
