Still wish they brought back Mario Tornado for Down B
I'm honestly surprised no-one objected to my suggestion a few pages back about Falco. Usually there's strong feelings for Falco by some fans.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyM@Customer: I'm telling you, man, looking back, the N64 had an awful, terrible controller. I honestly don't understand how I was able to use it or even just hold it without getting terrible hand cramps after a while.
Then again, I mostly just played PokémonStadium with it, so *shrug* I dunno.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. So, which character do you all anticipate being the most Difficult, but Awesome?
My money is on Rosalina. (Who seriously better get a black Luma companion this time, like in Galaxy. Polari needs representation, dammit!)
It's obviously gonna be Mario. His fireball special is gonna require a lot of skill to master.
EDIT: Seriously, what the heck happened to Polari? He's meant to be what Toadsworth is to Peach, but he only accompanies her in one game.

Rosalina is definitely the most obvious, but they did seem to be hyping the Villager up as a pretty complex character as well earlier on.
Of course there's also Sonic, though he seems to be less "difficult" and more "awesome" now that he seems to be more explicitly focused on combos.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyYeah, Rosalina seems to require a lot of attention to be good.
@Metroid characters: I advocate Dark Samus, personally, but beyond that I also slightly like the idea of Weavel. Both have plenty to make them their own characters (Dark Samus could have a Hypermode-esque mechanic that lets it charge up attacks temporarily, and Weavil could do stuff with the Halfturret).
And as for ZSS, I'm just gonna note that while she didn't fight in Zero Mission, -first of all, there's other characters who haven't fought in their games, such as Villager and Zelda. -second, keep in mind that she was up against an entire well-armed gang in their own territory. She probably knows plenty of stuff in the ways of hand-to-hand combat, but does that matter when the guys you're fighting have heavy armor on?

Dark Samus is gonna fall into that same pit Dark Pit falls into by looking too similar which means it's gonna be hard to tell who's who's when you have to give six palette swaps each to two separate characters who look similar without any of the palette's looking too similar.
EDIT: As much as I hate to say it I wouldn't be surprised if Sakurai didn't actually give Metroid another rep. I hope he does, but there's the possibilty.
People like Anthony, don't they? Maybe if he shows up in another Metroid he'll be deemed worthy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThe difference here is that while Pit and Dark Pit look exactly alike, Samus and Dark Samus don't.
Since Dark Samus isn't actually wearing a suit, Dark Samus would generally change it's entire body's color. Samus' swaps still usually keep the upper torso red, and the suit still looks very much mechanical.
(And Anthony yesh~ He was one of three, maybe four or five things I liked about Other M.)

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaAlso, it'd probably be easier to differentiate Dark Samus by using her skeletal appearance from the end of Prime 2
◊ in some way - perhaps to integrate both the character's constant form changing (giant crab - floating head - suit of armour - skeleton etc.) and Metroid heritage, an energy drain mechanic could be implemented, which powers up her attacks in relation to the damage she's dealt out; visually denoted by her armor gradually growing translucent, and her skeleton beginning to glow.
...Calling her Metroid Prime might help, too.
...I think making Dark Samus look different from normal Samus would be easy. First of all, Dark Samus is bulkier than Other M Samus, which Samus is currently looking like. Dark Samus can stand diffrently from normal Samus and have different animations. And Dark Samus' palettes could look darker than normal Samus'.

Only sometimes postsBad example, since Dark Links fights mostly identically to Link. Heck, it's folks like Dark Link who probably taint their view of the likes of Dark Samus. To them, Dark Samus is just "Samus but evil", because, after all, that is what Dark Link and such is, right?
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.So you'd be perfectly OK with Dark Link being a separate character in Smash Bros.?
Because that is what I am arguing. When folks not familiar with the Prime games see Dark Samus, they don't see "Metroid Prime in a vaguely Samus shape", they see "evil version of Samus ala Dark Link". It doesn't matter if they are separate beings in the game, as dumb folks are going to assume that they are just evil replicas and thus identical in terms of abilities.
And Dark Link actually is. But Dark Samus isn't.
Heck, reading through this thread, someone claiming Dark Samus would just be a clone of Samus has come up almost every time Dark Samus has come up for consideration and you lot have had to explain otherwise.
For the record, I'd be fine with Dark Samus as a fighter.
(I don't know anything about the Infamous games other than that Cole guested in Street Fighter Cross Tekken, so I wasn't referring to any of that btw)

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.If people are really too stupid to realize Dark Samus isn't the same character as Samus, or at least do SOME research into it before concluding that they're the same, they shouldn't be playing this game anyway.
That being said, I'd prefer Ridley before Dark Samus, and Dark Samus is even less likely than Ridley anyway thanks to being from Prime.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! All this talk about Dark Samus made me feel like making a moveset for her. So I did.
Standard Attacks
- Neutral A: Phazon Combo – A slow punch with left arm, followed by a downward swipe, then a finishing phazon-infused punch with strong knockback.
- Side A: High Kick – Kicks leg in an arc, with high speed and low knockback. Similar to Sheik’s forward tilt.
- Up A: Upward Jab – Dark Samus clenches her fist, then does an uppercut. Slow startup and average knockback, but with above average power.
- Down A: Crouching Kick – A quick spinning kick low to the ground, with average knockback
- Dashing A: Screw Attack – Dark Samus leaps into a Morph Ball transformation and flies forward in a Screw Attack for a short distance, before changing back to normal as she lands on the ground.
Smash Attacks
- Side Smash: Scattershot – Fires a short-range spray of phazon beams outward. Has wide vertical range and good knockback, but with mediocre power.
- Up Smash: Phazon Burst – Thrusts arm cannon straight up unleashing a small burst of phazon. Very powerful if sweetspotted at the phazon blast.
- Down Smash: Phazon Shockwave – Dark Samus slams her fist to the ground, unleashing a small shockwave at her feet. Only affects opponents on the ground; deals average knockback
Aerial Attacks
- Air Neutral A: Ball Spin – Enters Morph Ball form and quickly spins in place before returning to normal
- Air Neutral A: Double Kick – Dark Samus quickly kicks once with each leg, knocking opponents away. Similar to Zero Suit Samus’s forward aerial.
- Air Back A: Reverse Kick – A quick turning kick, dealing low knockback and damage.
- Air Up A: Drill Upper – Spins body around, dealing multiple hits, with feet pointing upward. Similar to Samus’s up aerial.
- Air Down A: Phazon Fist – Falls straight down with a downward punch. The button can be held to continue the attack until Dark Samus reaches the ground. The landing hit has strong power and knockback.
Grab Attacks
- Pummel: Phazon Absorb – Squeezes the enemy, hands glowing with phazon, causing a pulse of energy to pass through Dark Samus’s entire body.
- Forward Throw: Phazon Shot – Raises arm cannon and fires point-blank at the opponent, sending them flying.
- Back Throw: Whirling Toss – Dark Samus whirls the enemy around, tossing them away behind her.
- Up Throw: Toss & Blast – Dark Samus hurls the enemy a short distance into the air, then raises arm cannon and fires, knocking them upward.
- Down Throw: Morph Crush – Dark Samus drops the opponent to the ground, transforms into a Morph Ball, and dives onto them.
Special Attacks
- Neutral B: Phazon Beam – Fires a continuous beam of phazon at mid-range that knocks enemies away. The button can be held to extend the length of the attack. It must be recharged with time after use, with a longer wait increasing the horizontal range of the beam.
- Side B: Boost Ball – Hold the button to charge for speed and distance as Dark Samus changes to Morph Ball form, then release to send her dashing across the stage.
- Up B: Phaazite Pillar – On the ground, summons a pillar about 1.5 times the height of Dark Samus directly in front of her, knocking enemies upward before dissipating. In the air, Dark Samus summons the pillar directly beneath her, launching her upward.
- Down B: Phazon Barrier – Dark Samus briefly creates a phazon shield around herself that explodes if attacked, sending enemies on both sides flying.
- Final Smash: Echoes – Three translucent clones of Dark Samus appear around the stage, and immediately chase down and attack opponents for about 9m seconds. The real Dark Samus can also move and attack during this period, and the knockback of her regular and special attacks is increased significantly.
Probably not great considering I came up with it in about an hour or so, but eh.

Welcome to th:|

Except it has been used for edgeguarding and has been part of Mario's metagame.
It doesn't get any real use beyond it, sadly. But it was pretty underpowered. It probably will be a lot better in 4 if it stays.
Shadow?
