No but she's demonstrated magical abilities that make it seem like she could use those. I've never seen her do anything that would imply she could summon a Phantom.
In any case, the animation as shown in those two pictures really doesn't add up unless he Phantom is an Assist Trophy or separate character. And the latter isn't possible, since that would've warranted an announcement.
It's just a screeshot well-timed o one of Zelda's attacks, for the purpose of creating an interesting scene.
Kind of like he one that makes it look like Peach is stealing Link from Zelda. Or the one where Peach is apparently grabbing at Rosalina's crown. Or the one where Mario is recoiling in horror from T- okay, P Each seems to be pretty prominat for these ones.
I have a message from another time...@Odie: Nope.
As you can see here in the wiki
, phantoms differ from Darknuts(well, besides that Darknuts are in windwaker styled games some kind of dogmen with armor, you can always see their faces. Also they don't even have shields) in that they all have square shaped shields, horned helmets and big jagged sword(...actually now that I think of it, they look like darknuts minus shields and facelessness) like that Phantom in picture with Zelda. Also, Soldiers
are always rather skinny.

@Enlong: Eh, I think it could just be that the second picture was snapped after she started the attack but before the phantom itself appeared.
I dunno, it just seems strange that they'd reveal an Assist Trophy in a character page with no explanation (especially when Sakurai has to come up with five notable pictures for every week anyway), and not only that, but have it be the second one from Legend of Zelda out of only four known Assist Trophies altogether. Plus, out of all the choices they could go with for LOZ assist trophies, Phantom Zelda doesn't really seem like a particularly unique or likely choice...

Welcome to th:|Okay, here's my take on this.
If this were part of Zelda's moveset, it would either be pretty broken, or be so nerfed it's basically useless. With the latter I mean stuff like a long summoning time.
You see, with a separate character as part of a moveset, you cannot make it not broken. This character would consist of two parts, a hitbox, if the character even can be hit, and a, well, hitbox that defines its attack thingy. Basically it would be a separate character altogether with its own hitbox.
So, basically it has to be nerfed, otherwise it would be too overpowered. This nerf can happen in two ways. First, make this summon character really weak. Does that make sense? Fuck if I know, I never played Spirit Tracks. I do have it, in a limited edition box, never taken out of its plastic cover because I'm too much of a pussy to break the seal, but yeah, I never played it. But, does it seem plausible this character is weak, either in that you can easily cancel the character or that it doesn't do a lot of damage? I don't think so, he does seem pretty buff. That would mean that his summon time has to be lengthy, which just pushes it to the impractical point very quickly.
Add to that aesthetics, like, how exactly does it despawn when either Zelda or the character is hit? You can't just let it plop out of existence, it would kind of break the immersion.
So, is this a new Zelda move? Highly unlikely, given the various problems it would cause. Not impossible, mind you, but you'd have to be really careful how you do this.

Well, there is a third option - it could be a summon, like the Luma - but perhaps only sticks around for a single attack or only stays where she places it.
If anyone's played Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, I'm thinking something akin to Pheonix Wright's use of Maya - stands in front and blocks/retaliates a few hits, then disappears. For a character as oriented to mid-long range as Zelda often is, it's not so farfetched a move.

They could be doing something like JJBA:ASB did for their Stands.

Possibly Zelda's Phantom works like Virgilia's Goat Butler summon in Ougon.
Zelda performs an animation to summon the Phantom, who will perform an attack. Zelda's summon animation takes up a few frames, but the Phantom will remain on the field to perform their attack and vanish while Zelda is free is move.
DeerYou've been reading that Game FA Qs thread I posted, haven't you?
Non-possessed Phantoms aren't pink.
The armour could fall apart. I don't think there's anyone inside the Phantom armour after all.
Also, are you all you people ignoring how the Phantom happens to be in a new realistic style to match Zelda rather than in it's native Toon style? Seems pretty suspect if you ask me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI still think it's a move similar to the one about 30 seconds into this
video.
