I also correctly predicted they wouldn't reveal Sheik at the same time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyM^^ I think it's really funny that Sakurai seems to be playing up Zelda as The Comically Serious in his photos. My experience with the Zelda franchise isn't too deep, but I never thought of her as that kind of character.
I'm kinda glad Zelda has her appearance from Twilight Princess again. I was wondering whether they'd still use it considering how they came up with a different appearance for her in Skyward Sword.
But now that that concern's out of the picture, this is awesome. And what the heck, cue the foaming mouth guy!
I think the Phantom is a move (it's pink, which they only are if Zelda is controlling them) and that Sheik is not returning. It seems like they would have been revealed at the same time if she was. Guess we'll have to wait for a trailer, or more pictures to see if there's a gap in her moveset or not.
I like that they used the brown hair from TP again. It helps distinguish her from Peach more.
As for Zelda/Sheik, I'd point out that back in Brawl's hype days, Sheik was revealed far after Zelda's reveal (Zelda was an early reveal, Sheik was literally the last reveal before launch). Not to mention ZSS hasn't been revealed yet despite it being pretty apparent.
Not saying it's impossible for Sheik to have been dropped, but I think she's still a shoe-in.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! If the Phantom was an Assist Trophy, why would they make it realistic looking like Zelda instead of Toon style? I think it's one of her moves.
Not to mention no other character images feature Assist Trophies.

Or, you know, a cleverly-timed snapshot of Zelda doing an attack or a taunt as the Phantom Assist Trophy takes a swing.
I mean, let's get real, here. What are the actual odds that they'd retool Zelda to this extent? In a way that would either remove Sheik or one of her 3 Goddesses spells? And involve something from Spirit Tracks despite her being from Ocarina? And in a way that seems to step on Rosalina's puppetmaster toes?
Also, another important sign of Zelda possessing a phantom is glowing yellow eyes in the helmet.

I have a message from another time...
What makes you think one new move equals a retool? Does that mean Bowser was retooled in Brawl?

Weirdly, I think that's also a good point. It would look more similar to Toon Link if it was unrelated to Zelda.

They shouldn't be leaving characters exactly as they've been. Changing things should be encouraged or else the series gets stagnant.
-looks at hair- Nope. She's a mixture of various iterations, just like Link.
It's one move. Rosalina's entire moveset depends on her Luma.
In fact, I just thought of what it could be. Forward smash. Similar to Noob's ink clone in Mortal Kombat 9. It's a quick summon that disappears right away.

"Weirdly"? :/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMWell, it'd certainly be a change, if nohting else. I'm gonna say that I chose my word poorly. I'd call it a retool if it was just a move being changed (like Flying Slam, or Upperdash Arm, for example), but I'd call it more of an overhaul if it were to, say, replace Transform, and make Zelda into a puppet character instead of a transforming one.
In any case, even replacing Din's Fire, for example, would be a bit of a shock to me, since she's kind of got that thematic hing going on with the htree spells.

I was making no statements as to wheher the character should be chnged. I'd love to believe that it isn't just a clever screenshot with an assist trophy, myself. What I was asking was whether you think that they'd actually do this.

I have a message from another time...I really have no idea what move it is. I too think she should keep all three spells. And I also think she should keep Transform.
And it can't be a Final Smash because the screen isn't all dark and stuff.

You and I very rarely agree.

Yes, I do. It's a new team working on the game, and the reason Sakurai keeps saying each Smash Bros is his last one is because he doesn't like covering the same ground. He'd change something in a heartbeat if he had an idea he liked better.

I know, but I thought it was insinuating me having a point was weird.
Forget it. Moving on...

I can't either. For the moment, I'm assuming it's a humorous machinima-style screenshot, as with some of the others, meant to be an interesing scene rather than an indication of her moveset.
this would at least mean we have a new Assist Trophy, though.

To be fair, Zeldas and Links tend to be fairly interchangeable, personality-wise.
I sure said that!
