Doesn't look like any version of Rainbow Road I'm familiar with.
To be honest, if it weren't for the rainbow textures, I'd have assumed it was an Asteroid Coaster stage.
I have a message from another time...I was really happy for Rainbow Road getting in. Then I noticed it was based on Mario Kart 7's...
Hopefully there's a Wii U stage as well because after seeing that beautiful Rainbow Road in the Rosalina trailer makes me want to see one in vibrant HD.
EDIT: Honestly, I was expecting it to be based on the one in the trailer.
EDIT EDIT: I kinda realised this stage may be the fill-in stage for F-Zero stage in the 3DS version since all the F-Zero games are on home consoles. It appears to be one of those style stages.

The observation that it appears to be a Mute City-style stage still stands.
I actually had an idea a while back for a Mute City-style stage set on SNES Rainbow Road.
Agreed. Toad is boring.
What?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMSNES Rainbow Road would be awesome, but I can't think of much variety to where the track stops...
Maybe it could be like the 7 version where the road gets all wavy when a Thwomp hits it?

Well there'd be added floating platforms like they did for Mute City and Port Town Aero Dive at some points on the track.
And yes, it would be the 7 version. Honestly I would have preferred that on the 3DS version rather than what we got. I found 7's Rainbow Road easy compared to the SNES one which I found more challenging.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI dunno. 7's is pretty easy, yah, but from start to finish it felt like one giant moment of awesomeness.
Granted, SNES was like that too. Speaking of, My Music better return and it better have the SNES Rainbow Road theme on it. That was the best Rainbow Road theme of them all.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaNot when your brothers spam it whenever you play Vs Race with them (Thank you Nintendo, for leaving out single player VS Race!).
Anyway, the track's too wide, and I almost always win on it. It feels too easy. SNES Rainbow Road feels faster and more dangerous, thus more exciting to me.
The best is, and will always be, Double Dash's.
Give a character moves from old NES games when she has 100% no association with them? Righty-o...
Recreating the universe seems like an awfully big feat for a minor deity.
It wasn't so much about that more than they acted like she wasn't wanted at all or "didn't deserve to be in".
But it's hilarious...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI can relate. Oof, I remember the days on Wifi were either Wuhu Loop or (for some reason) N64 Kalimari Desert. >_<
(And why did they leave out single player VS, anyways? That was what I spent my childhood doing on Mario Kart DS.)
Agreed 101%.

Mario Kart DS will always be the best Mario Kart to me. And I too spent so much time on Single Player VS Race.
And Balloon Battle too. DS had the best Balloon Battle. Why the heck did Wii and 7 ruin the formula?
There is no way Elder Princess Shroob is a better option than Rosalina.
He didn't mean that in a literal sense. It was more like Universal-Adaptor Cast.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI agree with Mario Kart DS being the best of the bunch (at least, out of the ones I played). Had some of the best variety in stages, characters, and karts (and eventually let you play as whoever you want in whatever kart you want!), and, best of all, portability. Plus, the mechanics seemed the most polished out of all the MK games.
Of course, I haven't played 7 yet (despite owning it for over a year or so), so my opinion is subject to change.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I prefer Mario Kart 64 myself. I just love the entire game's design. Excellent courses, music, fun gameplay, a challenging single player with Co-Op that isn't too hard or has extremely unfair properties, etc.
Double Dash has my favorite character list, although I like Funky Kong, Rosalina, and Dry Bowser as well.
Shadow?I was never able to unlock everything in Double Dashnote , though I've always loved its gimmick. Creative concept that actually worked rather well (if you were playing with someone who knew what s/he was doing).
I went back and replayed 64 a year or so ago, and I was actually pretty amazed how well it's aged. I don't think it's the best in the series, but it's certainly very good. I suppose this isn't quite a fair parameter to use to judge it, but I just prefer how much more variety the later games provide. It's a good game, just not enough characters or courses for my preference.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
It's less "Save the princess, here's some levels" and more "You 8 fellows have embarked on your grand quest to save this child's brother."
At least, that's how I see it. It helps that most levels do something that make you remember them well.

No, I want to change the subject back to bashing Mewtwo because its fun.
I really could do without it though, too many 1st gen Pokemon as is. I could go with something other than Lucario too, something other than a fury animal.(and what's with Lucario talking and getting stronger as it takes damage? Where in any game did the species display those abilities?) I know it is kind of cliche but Scizor shares Charizard's distinction of remaining popular even when it sucked, except Scizor's sucky period has been far shorter and has been the most widely used competitive battler for three generations straight, especially after it just got a new super effective same attack type bonus to bullet punch plus a sparkly new Mega Evolution to show off to all the kids who haven't bought X&Y yet and it is a man sized mantis-crab made of steel with eye spots on its claws.
All these silly gimmicks like "Dream World" and "Mega Evolution", Charizard needed to stop being a joke, Scizor only needed one move, everything else has been icing on the cake for it. Okay, if there must be a playable sixth gen Pokemon for advertising purposes, Honedge, Doublade, Aegislash seem pretty popular. Better yet, we all know Zygarde is going to be on the cover of a future box, should Nintendo have its way, so why not use that? Mewtwo's X&Y forms will already be old news by the time the next Smash Bros comes out and quite frankly, people only sorta "like" one of its forms because it looks just like its normal form already did.

Buldogue's lawyerFirst of all, Zygarde is a sixteen-foot tall slug. I don't see how he could work as playable.
Mewtwo himself is kind of the Legendary Pokémon. Antagonist of the first movie, and to most kids back in the day was the second-rarest Pokémon that everyone wanted.
Aegislash... actually, maybe he could work. I highly doubt it'll be playable (and I'd rather have someone like Lucario, Mewtwo, or even Blaziken), but no reason I can't try to make a moveset for it.

Actually, I'm still rather interested in Rosalina, and I like Mewtwo, so I don't feel like listening to him be criticized for... whatever reason.
Rosalina is going to be top tier, I'm calling it. Difficult, but Awesome.

Blazekin's concept and design are taken far more seriously than a kick boxing chicken ever should be (which is really the problem with all three of the Hoenn starters), Mewtwo is Gigyas with two necks and Lucario...actually that could be pretty cool if Sakurai actually made it play like a Lucario (glass cannon that uses its bone spikes to attack, oh, and some hint that it is a steel type. How did he get that so wrong?)
But honestly, Scizor is more used by actual players of the games than any of them and Zygarde's size? Isn't this the same board that regularly proposes a playable Ridley? (I just relented a way it could work last page). Mew would probably be better than Mewtwo, with its larger movepool and voluntary shapeshifting and there are a ton of other, more interesting, more widely used psychic types (Gardevoir, Jirachi, Metagross).

That doesn't change how Zygarde is a gigantic slug. At least Ridley has potential to be a (very big) Glass Cannon. How would Zygarde so much as jump, even if he was resized?
Agreed on Lucario, kinda. Although it's Ground-type, I'd gladly give Lucario Bone Rush instead of Force Palm (since to my knowledge that attack is one of two usually associated with Lucario).
Whether other Psychic types are more interesting than Mewtwo or not is subjective, but at the very least it doesn't change that Mewtwo is iconic. Other than maybe the elusive Mew, the others aren't as well-known.
EDIT: Actually, replace Counter with... something, maybe? Riley's Lucario in-game uses Force Palm, and later on uses Extremespeed as well.

Looks good, and I'm glad it's another 3DS stage.
