Well, we have Luma mirroring Rosalina's attacks. Ice Climbers is that, but with AI added for when one is incapacitaed, and without any differences in moves between them (whereas Luma has diferent animations and the star bit shooter thing.)
Oh, final smash?
How about smashing into someone wih the Comet Observatory? Too big? Probably too big.

I have a message from another time...To clarify, I mean their programming feels kind of different. It could be that Luma takes up less space because it's not out automatically during the entire battle like the second Ice Climber would be.
Trust me, I doubt he hasn't fixed the IC issue anyway. But we still don't know. I'm only keeping a "I think it's fixed, but I don't feel it's truly guaranteed just yet." If we see another character like Ice Climbers, including Pokemon Trainer(two big models always onscreen), then yeah, "they're back" will be my response. I'm only somewhat skeptical at the moment.

I like that idea, but it's already a course. I really like the Black Hole one myself. Ooh, how about firing Luma off like a shooting star, having a knockback idea similar to things like Critical Hit or Blue Falcon.

Could be done in a cinematic style, kind of like Captain Falcon's. Trap a few poor souls in a launch star; send them to space and into a rushing chunk of Cool Spaceship. I don't know, there's a lot of ways the watcher of the cosmos could ruin someone's day spectacularly

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Ooh, even better. Any close enough get into the Launcher Star, then get slaughtered by a bunch of random flying Lumas. It's a similar idea to how Kat & Ana attack, but it's a full cinematic of being hit by a ton of them.
If you could program it any way you want, it should be hit how many times equal to Rosalina's current percent.
Joking aside, a series of perhaps 10 hits my work.
It's not about programming difficulty, it's about *space*. The memory limitations of 3DS cards are the concern for holding back the roster (compared to the in-all-but-name Blu-Ray discs the Wii U uses). CPU is not the limiting factor here, nor really is GPU, since the 3DS is about on par with the Gamecube (at absolute worst, they would just have to disable 3D on the 3DS to get everything to run smooth like they did with Pokemon Gen 6, but rendering 8 characters at once along with environments, as the Ice Climbers and/or Rosalina will mandate, will not be a strain)
I'll admit, Smash is not the first game I would've expected a character with Rosalina's fighting style to show up in. Tres unexpected - I can't wait to see how she works out.
With Super Mario 3D World and now this, it seems like Nintendo really trying to push Rosalina as a mainstay in the Mario series.
Also, is it just me or is that trailer really awesome. It's a lot more involved than the average Smash trailer - there's a lot going on, and the concept really makes me think that Kirby needs to show up in Mario Kart one of these days (and maybe he can bring City Attack from Air Ride with him).
Does it? I've been hoping it would, afer seeing the Faceship there. If there's a screenshot with the Observatory visible, I would very much like to see it.
I don't know.
I guess we'll eventually see.
Eh, regardless, it crashing down would be cool too. If it's part of the stage, it should get an extra animation for that too. Like an Easter Egg.
Shadow? What? Rosalina's in? No way! She never even crossed my mind, being more of a recent character and all. I was hoping for Bowser Jr. or Waluigi. But holy crap, this is awesome! Mario Galaxy is in my top 5 games of all time! Freaking legit!
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]That has nothing to do with it, really. When you build a fighting game like this, you have to think of optimum conditions. "No slowdown with all four players as Ice Climbers, on a stage like Mario Circuit (with the independently driven karts driving around) with a Pokeball and an Assist Trophy in play simultaneously."
That Luma exists at all dictates that Rosalina *could* be as much of a strain, whether we're talking in terms of computing or graphical performance. Toad and Peach's turnips are much the same way: they're not always there, but they're there, and that always has to be accounted for.
Again, Sakurai's statement about roster really had to do with *space*, and given that Game Freak clearly found the space for some 721 models (three hidden for cheat devices only at this point, and plus different forms, mega evolutions, and, you know, the actual game), I really doubt there's much in the way of limiting factor going on here. I'd be more worried about music on the 3DS version, and its quality.
I'm pretty sure Rosalina was more than notable enough to be added. XD
And I think constant models on the screen is more strainful than once in a while. Regardless. now that we've seen multi-model characters show up, I'm pretty sure they're coming back. Like, 90%. Maybe he's waiting for a better date to show them off. He might not even announce them at all since they're not connected to a newer game. Who knows?

Shadow? If anyone gets the reference, I'm thinking the Luma is something along the lines of Relius' mechanic in Blaz Blue (or several others in 2D fighters with a "puppet" gimmick) - a companion that can either be ordered to do a single special attack, or can be detached somewhat to receive partial autonomy. We see Rosalina doing what looks like both at different points in the trailer.
I'm thinking that she creates a Launcher Star for her Final Smash. It sucks in anyone close enough, and then launches them into space, where they pinball off of several bits of space debris, asteroids, etc. before landing back on the stage with their damage counters increased greatly.
Sort of like Blue Falcon, but with the knockback at the end replaced with extra damage dealt.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about. It can be both.
They combined Diddy's Recovery and Projectile attack for his Final Smash, after all.
Plus, they're both used entirely different ways. One gives her a boost. The other sends somebody into space to be eliminated.
@Bad Wolf: It was just confirmed Luma is a second character, actually.
"Pic of the day. Rosalina and Luma can be right by each other or set farther apart. They're both controlled by the player, so a smash attack can be done from far off. Remote control all the way!"

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectYeah, but Olimar’s pretty much useless without Pikmin. Rosalina can fight without her Luma.
".5"?
You don’t say.
Why? Having only the main four would be boring.
It wasn’t in the Direct.
I figured it out as soon as I saw the Mario Kart bit that it was Smash.
What is that?
This makes me very happy.
I think that’s just Battlefield at night.
Once again, TV Tropes proves The Complainer Is Always Wrong stigma.
Your opinion is missing Double Dash.
You said the pic of the day meant nothing. Or did you just mean you knew Rosie would make it in?
And none of them should.
You say that as if there's no genuine reason to like him...
Fire Emblem deserves three reps regardless. Heck, it deserved three in Brawl.
Rosie's style is very different from the Ice Climbers.
Because they were funny.

Or create a black hole.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
