Are we giving ideas on alternate costumes? All of Brawl's cast, plus the three confirmed newcomers:

  • Mario: Dr. Mario
  • Luigi: Mr. L
  • Peach: Sports attire
  • Bowser: Dry Bowser
  • DK: ??? (Not many options...)
  • Diddy: ???
  • Yoshi: Yarn Yoshi assuming that still exists, or Black and White Yoshi as two palette swaps instead of one costume.
  • Wario: Overalls Wario, and like Brawl he'd have his own color options too.
  • Link: This Link seems to be more a composite Link than any specific Link, but I suppose his costume could be the Knight Acadamey clothes.
  • Zelda: Difficult. Perhaps if she retains her TP design, her OOT design?
  • Sheik: Same deal, I suppose.
  • Ganondorf: Assuming he uses his TP design again, his OOT design (I like WW's, but it wouldn't fit as well I think).
  • Toon Link: Outset Link
  • Samus: The Fusion Suit; the Fusion Suit color scheme would be replaced with a different palette swap, of course.
  • Zero Suit Samus: One of her end-of-game outfits, probably one of the less-revealing ones from Super Metroid or Fusion.
  • Pit: The armor associated with the Three Sacred Treasures
  • Ice Climbers: Default colors, but reverse the positions (Nana in pink leads, Popo in blue follows. I guess their normal palette swaps switch around who leads, so perhaps that could be changed around as needed).
  • ROB: Not sure here. An OG design is probably all he can have, even though I'm not so crazy about Project M the Virtual Boy ROB is pretty cool-looking.
  • Kirby: Not sure. Hats would interfere with his copy ability, and there's not much else beyond palette swaps.
  • Meta-Knight: Maskless
  • King Dedede: Masked
  • Olimar: Pikmar, or the less-detailed suit used in Pikmin 1 and 2.
  • Fox: Expert Mode sunglasses
  • Falco: Assault design, or a Retraux 64 polygonal style.
  • Wolf: 64 eyepatch instead of Assault eyepatch.
  • Captain Falcon: Not familiar enough with F-Zero, but apparently he's got some options (Somebody once said there was a ridiculous outfit in GX?)
  • Pikachu: In inversion to how the "palette swaps" are actually "costumes" due to accessories, the "costume" would be a "palette swap" in the form of Shiny coloration.
  • Pokemon Trainer: The Pokemon themselves would be Shiny, while PT himself would be the RBY design over the FRLG design.
  • Lucario: Shiny
  • Jigglypuff: Shiny
  • Marth: ???
  • Ike: ???
  • Ness: Pajamas
  • Lucas: Pigmask Commander uniform
  • Mr. Game & Watch: The actual G&W style, outlineless and disjointed.
  • Snake: ???
  • Sonic: ???

  • Villager: Female, with its own color palettes
  • Mega Man: Rock
  • Wii Fit Trainer: Assuming that's what it was, male Trainer with its own color palettes.

I generally don't like for a costume to be a different character, though I made exceptions for Villager (Since they're blank slates anyway) and Wii Fit Trainer's genders (Since the latter seems to already be the case).

As a playable character? He'd be cool, though I don't think he has very high chances.

Byrne was awesome, but Spirit Tracks is already outdated both as the most recent Zelda overall an as the most recent handheld Zelda.

Characters from Skyward Sword and A Link Between Worlds are more likely.

Maybe as an Assist Trophy...although even that doesn't seem particularly likely considering the myriad of options from Zelda.

Also, I know everybody complains about stuff from Other M, but surely this outfit as an alternate costume for Zero Suit Samus wouldn't be objectionable?

I would have Samus use the Fusion Suit, and ZSS wear this. (From Metroid Fusion's Japanese version- clear the game in under two hours, 100% items, on Hard.)

Even though it doesn't coorelate to the Fusion Suit, Super Metroid's ending suit would work well. It's not as revealing as NES Metroid or Fusion's ending suits, isn't drastically different from the Zero Suit, and it is at least a suit she wears under her armor rather than her GF uniform.

Something I'll say- If a character lacks a good alternate costume, I'd settle for doubling up on palette swaps.

And yes, Anom, a Captain Famicom costume would be pretty funny. I'd provide an image, but I'm stuck on mobile right now.

I sure said that!

Yeah, I can't think of any alternate costume for Yoshi beyond Yarn Yoshi, which seems to have ceased to exist, so if that's the case I'd settle for White and Black Yoshis being two additional palette swaps. They are the "unlockable" Yoshi colors, anyway, so it fits. tongue

If ROB has no good costume, I'd take promoting his NES color scheme to unlockable costume and just giving him another generic palette swap in place of it.

Eh, it's been less than a year since Yarn Yoshi was announced, and it seemed pretty early in development then, so it doesn't surprise me that they haven't shown it again yet. They haven't shown anything of Shin Megami X Fire Emblem yet either.

Was Yarn Yoshi even formally announced? As far as I know there was just a Miiverse hack that leaked it. Or something.

The reveal of Yoshi's New Island makes me wonder if Yarn Yoshi's concepts were simply recycled into it or if it's still a thing.

I say R.O.B. uses his appearance from Kirby's Dream Land 3. It looked a little different from normal R.O.B..

Young Other M Samus doesn't look much like Samus.

... The suit is one thing, but I hope ZSS doesn't have the mole or the heels from THAT GAME.

I sure said that!

I don't mind the concept of the mole though it's a little bit distractingly large and dark. It looks sorta bizarre. I'd be fine with it being gone, but wouldn't mind it staying so long as it's more subtle.

The heels need to go, though.

The Other M heels are very likely to be in. Everything else in SSB4 based off that.

Not so sure. They did modify the Other M suit, after all, rather than just use it as it appeared. Not to mention nobody really complained about Other M's suit design, but a lot of people complained about the Zero Suit's heels so there's a chance they've heard that and listened.

Bear in mind Nintendo is fully aware that Other M flopped and that a lot of people hate it. It would make sense for Sakurai to pick and choose what to represent carefully, rather than throw in elements everyone hated.

[up][up]There's a split- people who think that, at the very least, Other M's suit design is awesome; and then people who hate it because it doesn't seem armor-y enough.

I personally love it, since it's design emphasizes Samus' athletic abilities more than the other suits have.

What would be neat is if the training mode had a personal trainer that would teach you how to use specific characters.
