Having a game breaking tactic at all is bad balance regardless of the rest of the character's strengths. And the Ice Climbers do have more than that—the fact that they can desync their attacks to keep pressuring their opponent. If the developers made that their main strength rather than Wobbling or just throwing all day, it would be much better balance.
@Anomalocaris:
Really? I can't really hear it, but neat anyways.
I've always thought part of it sounded like a remix of the Darkman Stage BGM
.
Sounds like an original composition to me.
If I had to pick one song it sounded like it'd be Dark Man's fortress though.
Hmm, yeah, it does seem to be pretty different from Wily Stage 1. For some reason I thought I had read a comparison between the two somewhere.
That would be a neat theme to have on the stage, though (The Yellow Devil fight music, I mean, not Wily Castle 1).
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Indeed, in Melee he was good, just overshadowed by the Good Doctor.
And he was garbage in Brawl.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaSon, I am disappoint.
Why?
"The Ice Climbers are one of the few characters to have been truly buffed from SSBM to SSBB. Both Ice Climbers can grab on to a ledge at the same time, and Belay can be a Tether Recovery if the partner grabs a ledge first, then the leader reaches up to the ledge. The Ice Climbers' have more attack power for their special moves (Blizzard is especially buffed if the Ice Climbers are next to the opponent), but they have less smash attack power for K Oing. Both Ice climbers's down smash deals more damage. The Ice Climbers can become separated easier when attacked, but they are a bit stronger by themselves. Down aerial no longer has set knockback, giving it KO potential at very high percentages (above 170%), but it no longer acts as a viable way to maintain the down throw chain grab. The partner can now squall hammer and belay alone, and a lone Ice Climber's Belay gives some slight distance. If the partner hits another character while executing Belay, the move is still completed. The partner AI is significantly advanced (near level 9) so (s)he does not die as easily."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThey could start the Mario fixing process by either making his FLUDD actually a viable move or get rid of it again for something less one-off and gimmicky
The thing showed up in one game (Smash brothers aside) that was released years ago, and nobody seems to like it as far as I can tell. I can't fathom why they decided it would be a good idea to keep it around.
Clone mini link is bad enough. To add in a clone of a clone - especially to the degree of including another 'toon' variation of an existing character - would be...words that are probably best left unsaid in this thread.

I wasn't talking about Super Mario Sunshine, I was talking about how I can't recall ever talking to anyone who actually likes having Mario use the FLUDD in Smash Brothers.
If they can't be bothered to give Mini-link - who's already a clone - a moveset of his own, you really think they'd bother to do differently with a clone of Captain Falcon's clone?
Given the limited character space that already exists, having two versions of Ganondorf that would likely be nearly the exact same character - on top of the two versions of link that are already present - would be a waste of space better used for a different character who would be far more likely to have a different moveset and bring their own style to the game.
What if it used more nozzles?
Hold Down-B —> charge Squirt Nozzle. Tap Down-B after charging —> fire. Tap Down-B without a charge —> switch to Hover Nozzle. Down B with Hover Nozzle: Hover jet. Tap again —> Rocket Nozzle. Hold Down B wih Rocket Nozzle —> Charge and fire rocket launch. Tap again —> Turbo Nozzle. Hold with Turbo Nozzle —> Charge a turbo dash.
I have a message from another time...For Mario's down special, I'd be fine with swapping it out for the star spin.
I have a feeling that his d-air will be the Star Spin unless they do just that (switch out FLUDD and bring back the Mario Tornado as the Star Spin).
Wario would probably have a Wario Land stage rather than Super Mario Land 2.
Personally, I feel when there is a game and it has a sequel, the first game should get a stage first. For example, Galaxy 1 stage before Galaxy 2 stage (ironically, Sakurai choose to mix both), Endless Ocean 1 stage before Endless Ocean 2 stage, etc.
Has Nintendo ever acknowledged Missingno in any way?
Ew...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMNo Pug Assist Trophy.
(Basically, they acknowledge it exists, but they only acknowledge it insofar as it being a glitch in the programming that is potentially harmful to the game data and have no plans to officially recognize it within the games.)

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

But should a character in a fighting game just have one thing what makes the character super good? Not really. Overall balance is a good thing.
