Diddy makes realistic monkey noises in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Another thing I should have explained before is the thing I have about this is that it mainly applies to big series. Pokemon for example. Putting in someone recent there will hold back someone more deserving (poor Blaziken's debut is way overdue, Jigglypuff getting into Brawl and Mewtwo not). That's why Sakurai's comment on how Pokemon reps disheartens me.
Because's he's not thinking of who's important in the long run, but "What’s the hot Pokemon? What Pokemon are in the movies right now?"
I think my feelings were best summed up by the first commentor: "They should take into account *slightly* more on which are immortalized and less on what's "in" or "hip" at the moment.". But then he screws it up by saying Lucario was one of them.
Now Fire Emblem's trickier but the same logic still applies. The easy one is Marth, first protagonist and the one who's starred in the most games. Ike is the only lord beside Marth to b ethe starring lord of more than one game. Considering most lords are one-shots, I feel this makes Ike very significant among most of the lords.
Now the question you've gotta ask yourself is "Will Chrom still be as stand-out by the time there are three more FE games?". I know this sounds like a long wait, but it's worth it I assure you. If Chrom still has some reason why he's more important than other lords by that time, then we know he's a good choice to add because he won't become irrelevant.

You see, the problem with that is that the next FE could become the best selling game in the series. It's not a stable factor.
Likewise, what if the series becomes in threat of cancellation again sometime in the future, and a new release saves the franchise again?

And if Chrom is still important by then he can be included and it will be good because the reason wouldn't be recency.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI'd like Robin for the Tactician fighting style. Recent or no, I'd like to see a Fire Emblem spellcaster, and it's probably down to Robin or Micaiah for that.
I mean, yeah, there's Chrom, but Robin is perhaps even more central to Awakening's story, and brings a fighting style other than sword lord to the table.

I have a message from another time...![]()

Okay then. I'm glad that you have non-advertising reasons for his inclusion. More people (especially game devs) should think like that.
But if he falls from relevance by the next Smash is out I'm heading for your house with Torches and Pitchforks.

I too would prefer Robin as Awakening's rep. At least he's not a Blue-Haired Sword Lord.

But rotation also causes a problem because it causes the character's fans to get angry about the removal of a character they liked.
Which is why if Dr Mario was never in Melee I would have avoided a lot of arguments with his surprisingly vocal large fanbase.

In the FE games, Lords, gameplay-wise, tend to be pretty similar to each other. I could accept a newer character inheriting Chrom's moveset if he does become less relevant.

Four is a little generous, and I'm not really sure how Tiki would work.

I sure said that!![]()
But she's an important character. And she's playable in both Marth's game and Awakening.

I don't think Fire Emblem will get four reps sadly. But your FE roster is something I would support.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThe Fire Emblem roster I'd be most satisfied with would be Marth, Chrom, Micaiah, and Anna. Or, since we probably won't get 4 FE characters until the fifth Smash Bros at the earliest, maybe we'll have another Mage lord by then that could go in instead of Micaiah. Basically I want a mage.
Welcome to th:|Hey, I just thought of something.
You know how in 64 and Melee they had a retro Super Mario Bros stage? Well what if in Smash 4 they have a retro Super Mario Land stage for the 3DS version?

Another thing, I hope they get rid of all the realistic animal noises for characters. It doesn't fit them at all.
