Something I've kinda wondered for a bit...why haven't the devs ever taken the opportunity to make cameos of themselves in the game? Like, maybe a reflection in a trophy, a secret hidden image in a menu, hell, maybe even a trophy of one of themselves.
I can just imagine, a Sakurai trophy is earned once you unlock every possible thing in the game
Honestly, Pichu could be saved if they did a better job of making it a true Risk and Reward character over a clear Joke Character that could never win a one-on-one fight against someone of equal skill that they couldn't do with Pikachu. The idea of taking recoil from the attacks was a really cool concept but it needed some sort of decent power boost. Hell, that's even reminiscent of a Life Orb from the actual Pokemon games.
@January Direct: Oh man, I'd love to get a big juicy update in the January Direct.

Agreed.
I await this anxiously.
As awesome as that would be, Zombi U is third-party.

Magic.
Heck, Wired.com say "The Best Super Smash Bros. Isn’t Made by Nintendo"
Wired.com is now officially the worst gaming website. And all those comments in there where the PMBR team claim they don't hate Brawl.
But anyway:
I'm genuinely surprised that they would add an item, considering how tourney goers feel about items.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMWhy does it always have to end up in a Project M discussion? Why can't we just veer off into, I dunno, Super Smash Flash territory? Not that I've ever played Super Smash Flash, but you get my point. I'm not saying it's getting out of hand, it's just that it's literally getting nowhere. It's just as much circling as the entire Ridley stuff.
So yeah, Super Smash fangames. Got any good suggestions?
In my opinion, the one thing these things are lacking is the one thing these things need, and that's modding capabilities. I mean, sure, most applications are very closed, but some do allow for externally loaded files, so what's the entire deal with it?
Signatures are for lamers.Aw no, Snake's awesome. It'd suck to lose such a unique fighter.
Kick out Falco. He doesn't bring anything new to the table.
Same here. I know someone's gonna crucify me for saying this, but Sonic was boring in Brawl. And I wasn't really fussed at all about his inclusion.
He does look much more exciting in Smash 4 though.
I think we need one more. Only one.
Most likely from Namco or Square.

Acceptable Targets, obviously.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure Super Smash Flash is generally agreed to be subpar at best. Don't know too much about the sequel, though.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy
And not to mention it has Goku, Naruto, Ichigo, InuYasha and Mr Incredible for some reason.
This is why I avoid fanfiction/fanworks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyM'Course you do. I mean, "nonsensical crossover" is basically the premise of Smash Bros.
That's why I prefer the idea of the fighters being the actual game characters rather than trophies or dolls; it makes no sense but is awesome.
"We're home, Chewie."From what I've played, SSF 2 feels very good, even for a beta. Kinda like Smash were 2D. And I don't mind the random Jump characters, which funnily enough have sprites from their own Smash-esque game Jump Super Stars.

I'm pretty sure our attitudes have been directed to just a couple fan works in particular. Super Smash Flash because nobody thinks it's really all that good (and that's just recent) and Project M because everyone associated with is seems to act like a bunch of egotistical jerks who talk down to anyone who doesn't think as highly of their project as they do.
Nobody here seems to be talking bad about Brawl In The Family (if we're not just talking video games). Frankly, I'd say it's pretty dang example of a great fan project, and the guy who makes it manages to keep from acting like a jerk, to boot.

Apparently, according to a German general manager, Smash may be released earlier than we thought.
Thoughts?
I really hope this isn't true. The last thing I want is veteran characters potentially being cut due to time constraints.

The translation is awkward, but it reads like he's saying that Spring will have two big games for the Wii U aside from those two.
Actually, that's just something to keep my hopes from rising too much. Besides, there's always the possibility this is faked or the GM was wrong.

Not every Project M fan is like that though. I, for one, try to not act so condescending to people who don't like Project M and only post stuff because I'm a fan of the mod and just prefer it to the other games. It seems like that's the stance the developers have been taking in recent days considering that they actually added an item (which suggests to me that they understand casual fans like to play with items and decide to have a little fun tweaking them) and the fact that they removed the "Failure" sound effect when using not using the Gamecube controller.
Neither side should talk down to the other, and while I agree that elitists that talk the game up as an objectively better game are annoying, sometimes the people against it can be just as bad.

How the fuck does a random remark about Super Smash Flash I make turn around back to Project M?
Okay, another subject then, which hopefully will sidetrack from Project M.
I've been thinking about this giant fan comic idea I had which originally would be some pitch for an actual movie. I called it Captain N: The Subspace Emissary. It begins with the creation process of a Link figurine, how it goes from production to a retailer into the hands of a teenage boy named Kevin Keene, who pops in Punch-Out!! for the Wii. Remember, this movie will take place around the time that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is still relevant.
Anyway, the screen zooms in on the game, and we get to a scene where Little Mac is fighting King Hippo, and comes out victorious. He's then seen watching television where the grand Smash tournament would take place. In this world, all video game characters are their actual selves, not trophies. Anyway, he watches the screen where Mario and Kirby are fighting, not yet against each other, but each are fighting against random mooks from other Nintendo games. It then zooms in on that screen, and then pans over to the Halbert, where we see Meta Knight commanding the ship. Suddenly he gets attacked by a bunch of primids and shadow bugs. The screen then zooms out, and we see Princess Lana monitoring what happens on the Halbert. She then consults something, I don't know, and that someone or something suggest that she'd use the Ultimate Warpzone.
We then go back to Kevin Keene, and we hear his mother yelling at him (Kevin, are you playing video games again? I thought I told you to clean up your room!) At that point, he gets sucked inside the screen, into Video Land.
The film would differ from the actual Subspace Emissary, where Kevin figures out that defeated heroes don't normally get turned into trophies like in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so the stakes are now higher, as there is now a real risk.
But meh, I might never make this thing.
Signatures are for lamers.

I think he'd still give them separate pages. Just so they can both have their own individual artwork and 10 photos each and stuff.
This would be nice.
But it would essentially be like removing a character. Why lose Diddy's individual play style?
