Apparently. It's specifically a gun shaped like the submarine from Steel Diver.
Edit: Wow, our trope page on it is kind of sparse...

Since Dixie was originally planned to be part of a team with Diddy in Brawl, and she's in the next DK game, you think they could include that idea this time? Sakurai did say he was having difficulty with "fighters like the Ice Climbers", which might suggest he's considering other characters like them.
I know this is barely on topic or whatever but I just finished rewatching There Will Be Brawl and am really hoping for a sequel/prequel or something now with Sm4sh on the way.
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValSame here.
That's exactly the problem. The Ice Climbers don't need they're gimmick spammed everywhere. It detracts from their uniqueness. It's like how everyone and their freakin' grandma wants those pointlessly unnecessary "New Pokemon Trainer but from [Insert Gen Here] with [Insert region's first stage Water starter/second stage Grass starter/third stage Fire starter]" ideas.
Basically, what Pulse said here ![]()

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMOh, by the way, the Steel Diver submarine gun launches homing torpedoes that start off slowly.

Reminds me of how they made a bomb item that looks like the Hocotate Ship.
I wonder if they'll be a Steel Diver stage? It could be like Poke Floats, but underwater and on all the different submarines instead of Pokemon Balloons.
Speaking of which, apparently the game was meant to have more content, but Miyamoto insisted it didn't need anymore. Darn it, Miyamoto!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMMr. Miyamoto is surprisingly minimalistic in his games, I've noticed...

Yes, Steel Diver is one of his creations. EDIT: Darn it, you've went and edited your post and this sentence now makes less sense.
If he had listened to whoever said to put more content, it could have turned out better. Minimalism works depending on the game, and sometimes I feel Sakurai seems to think that having more stuff detracts from it (especially regarding his feelings on plot in games).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyM@Mag: More than one character can share a gimmick and still be very distinct from each other.
Like Wii Fit Trainer and the Villager, both are non-fighters who use moves from their games that didn't actually have anything to do with fighting.
Or Captain Olimar and Pokemon Trainer, both don't fight directly and command mons.
Not to mention the clone characters like Lucas, who according you is deserving to stay.

Except Diddy is a complete character, and people are just suggesting to make the pair-up for the sake of it. It's pointless. It won't add anything new.
Also Wii Fit Trainer and Villager being Clown Fighters isn't the same gimmick. That's like Bowser and Donkey Kong have the same gimmick by both being Mighty Glaciers. It'd be the same niche (not gimmick) if both fought with Yoga poses or something.
Same goes for the Olimar and Pokemon Trainer comparison. Olimar fights in the field himself and uses Pikmin for most of his attacks. Pokemon Trainer doesn't step on the field at all; you just play as his three pokemon whose switching gimmick is more comparable to the whole Zelda/Sheik thing. And even then Trainer has unique gimmicks like Stamina and Type Weeknesses.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMNot sure why you changed the sentence to be a bit more antagonising, but okay.
That's because Lucas is so close to being decloned. We just need new Specials and new Forward Smash, Down Tilt and Up Aerial moves and he's fully decloned.
Also he's the main protagonist of his game, like Ness is to his game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMAnd why wouldn't he?
Hair-copter and several other uses of her hair, I suppose.
Hopefully not. Dixie should be separate from Diddy.
Even with her hair, overall she doesn't really add anything. A hair spin move that'd be rip-off off Spin Attack/Spinning Kong. And she'd probably play to similarly to Diddy Kong, stat-wise.
If Sakauri is having a slimmer roster this time around I'd rather not have any characters that are similar to others.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMYes it would actually, it would add several new things. Like a new DK rep.
Except it is the same gimmick. "Gimmick" doesn't just mean what something looks like, it's a concept. And WFT's and Villager's concept is identical.
Also, it doesn't make any sense for you say something that actually pretty general (like a fighting team) should never be repeated, but very specific concepts (a character from a game who never fought in-game using moves from their series that were never combat related) can be.
And who's to say DD+DX wouldn't fight in a unique way? You don't know that.
As for Lucas, he's irrelevant. First off he's a clone, secondly his game was never released outside of Japan (compare Ness), and thirdly Mother 3 did very poorly.

I don't think she'd have to be too much like Diddy. For one thing, no popguns or jetpack. As for the general fighting style? For some reason, Shante-esque ponytail whipping comes to mind.
Edit: Lucus is not a clone! He has perhaps six moves, out of his entire moveset, that are comparable to Ness's moves. Specifically, his specials, forward smash, and final smash. Toon Link is a clone. Falco is a somewhat differentiated clone. So is Luigi. Lucas is far further towards the Lucario end of the "is this a clone character?" spectrum.

I have a message from another time...K Rool will, and always will be, the superior option for a third DK rep.
lolno.
You really don't get that Fighting Clown is not a gimmick, do you? Characters fighting when they can't fight in their own games is a very broad range thing. It's been done in Smash in every installment (Captain Falcon, Mr Game & Watch, R.O.B.). Meanwhile, tehre is one and only one duo in Smash. It's not "pretty general". If anything, "a character from a game who never fought in-game using moves from their series that were never combat related" is the more general one.
It's change for the sake of change. Diddy is fine by himself as is.
First of all he can be decloned (if Sakurai decides to think outside the square when it comes to non-new franchise newcomers), secondly Nintendo is a Japanese company and Mother 3 has a large fanbase outside of Japan anyway, and thirdly I'm pretty sure there are some series that are repped in Smash that have sold poorly and that's a stupid reason anyway.
You can stop that by telling him his semantics are wrong.

Lucario isn't a clone at all, so I wouldn't even put him on the spectrum.

They're really trying desperately to sell the 3DS's launch games, aren't they?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
