Because it was lazier easier that way.
Massive Irony Moment.
Rather have K Rool and Dixie first.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThee days, I hink you could make Ganondorf more Ganondorf'y without removing mos of his Captin Falcon moves. Change some of his moves to visually use a sword while retaining the same hitboxes, for exmple. (up tilt or forward smash come to mind), and alter a few of his specials.
B can become Black Hole: a charged projectile move that either fires a small electric orb, or fully charges to fire homing shadows.
Side B remains Flame Choke.
Down B is Warlock Punch, but it becomes the shockwave drop from Ocarina of Time if used in the air.
And Up B becomes a flight mode to fill the apparent hole left by Pit's recovery.
And bam! Ganondorf feels like he should, while retaining much of the playstyle he's become associated with.
I have a message from another time...Cranky: "Back in my day, fighting games didn't have all these bells and whistles. We just had a joystick and two buttons!"
Fixed.

It's still pretty much Raptor Boost except throwing the opponent to the ground instead of up in the air.
Except, you know, missing out on a useful Assist Trophy...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMNot exactly. Raptor Boost (and Gerudo Dragon) is a standard attack that has the caveat of not occuring if the enemy isn't in range. It causes a hit like any other move. Flame Choke, by contrast (and Falcon/Dark Dive does his as well) is more of a command grab. He grabs the enemy and hrows them to the ground, arresting their movement when he gets hem in his grip. Another move it's similar to is Bowser's side B, though Ganondorf performs the followup immediately. I feel that's distinct enough from Raptor Boost at this point.
And it has enough of Ganondorf's own personal style to it that I feel it belongs. I figure that's an important factor. Gerudo Dragon looked and felt like a clone move in a way that Flame Choke really doesn't, to me.
But, you know, if that's not how you feel about it, then that's fine. We've both said our pieces, so we can just move on to something else.

It's based off Raptor Boost. It is.
If Sakurai had never made him a clone in the first place I wouldn't have to endure this right now...

The Chew Toy of Gaming
Not really?
- Raptor Boost is a blockable attack, Flame Choke is an unblockable grab.
- 'Dorf follows his opponent down during an air Flame Choke, Raptor Boost bounces Falcon upward.
- 'Dorf has armor during the grab part of Flame Choke, Falcon's screwed if he's hit during Raptor Boost.
- Falcon falls on his face if he misses a ground Raptor Boost, 'Dorf doesn't.
Oh for the love of...
If Ganondorf was never in Melee and was added in Brawl and wasn't a clone, I guarantee you Flame Choke wouldn't be in his repertoire.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI dunno. I mean, sure, if he wasn't anyhing like Falcon to begin with, I might have batted an eye at something like Flame Choke, when other established moves for him exist, like the vortex thing he used in the cutscene just before his fight in Ocarina, or his various energy balls or that hand-blast thing from the cutscene at Hyrule Castle.
But I figure I would have only batted an eye, because the way the move is presented in Brawl feels like it belongs on Ganondorf. I mean, a Neck Lift followed by burning the enemy with dark fire? That's something that fits the character, if perhaps not the actual stuff he does in the games. It certainly fits him better than the Fox Illusion fits Fox, for example.
But if this can't be reconciled, perhaps we should move on. We could talk about the possible moves Cranky Kong could have? I'd like to see some of your ideas, as I feel my Special Moveset earlier was a bit slapdash.

I have a message from another time...
I know it fits him, I just wish they made it without it being pseudo-Raptor Boost.
Also was that a general "your" or was that directed at me?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMAnd it's not like Ganondorf has never used a choke move in a game. It has slightly different properties, and was cutscene only, but he still grabbed Toon Link, and slammed him into the ground in some way. The way he does it in Brawl actually makes more sense for the TP version to it, since he felt more like a magical-based character than his WW version, who was pretty heavily physical orientated, minus the slight magic he does when creating his Puppet Ganon forms(who are also pretty physical).

General "your". I'd be happy to see anyone's Cranky ideas. Do you have some?
TP Ganondorf is sort of a mix of magical and physical (the final battle is a swordfight, after all). I think the most magical Ganondorf was in Ocarina. He doesn't fight you physically at all until he transforms into Ganon.

I don't have any. The idea of playable Cranky never crossed my mind.

True. But like I said, TP Ganondorf feels more magical than WW, so his style of a choke makes sense. If it was the WW version in Brawl, I think he should've grabbed the character in the same way, but jump up and slam them straight down instead, like in his game.
I love the move regardless. I'd also love to see his Warlock Punch changed either to the Earthquake(possibly with charging it by bring his fist back, then punching the ground with a shockwave). I'd keep that Down B. Up B is fine how it is, IMO, at least the new animation. I think when he grabs someone, he should go upwards farther in a spin then throw them to the side while slightly moving forward. And his B could easily be his Dead Man's Volley.(I like to call them Energy Balls myself.
) I like a lot of his A moves, but a few sword moves are good. His new A moves in Brawl are really really well-made, though. Except his modified Up A. That was just as bad as in Melee's. The new kicks are sweet, though.

Even with Tropical Freeze, I'd still rather not. The DK series would only get 3/4 slots at most. I'd rather those spots be filled with K Rool and Dixie.
Although to be honest, Dixie doesn't really add much that Diddy doesn't offer.

Or maybe it reads out a visor scan log entry...
