It's funny because he's clearly shown double-jumping in the Direct.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaIt's perfectly normal to have 8 by the time he reaches Dr. Wily's fortress. XP
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987The Variable Weapons System is the name of the software/hardware that allows Mega Man to use the abilities of his enemies after defeating them, though he does use more than normal (around 8-10 in a normal Mega Man game).
I would gush about the fact they know the name of the system, but I've spent a lot of gushing about Mega Man being in anyway.

Just as well, too. The Spark Shock is surprisingly useless as a weapon in MM 3.
I have a message from another time...There's also how he has to vent excess heat when using both Busters, and the Flame Sword is used exactly like how it is in the air in Mega Man 8, and *squeeeeeeeeeee~*
Mega Man may be just as nerd-tastic of a character as Mr. Game & Watch. Okay, maybe a little less (or more?).
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaWhat if being playable in Smash will increase his popularity? Like they'd have to make up some original moves for him because all he can do is fly with a balloon and drop bombs, right? If they pull a Captain Falcon and give him crazy OG moves and make him wacky like Waluigi he might be Rescued from the Scrappy Heap in the West.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI'd just make Tingle the resident Dan Hibiki.
Anyways, if another Zelda character is added, I'd want it to be Tingle.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaBoth Spark Shot and Top Spin are pretty much useless except for very specific circumstances.
Spark Shot is great against certain bosses, but is like Ice Slasher without the ability to change weapons.
Top Spin is capable of doing great damage to most enemies and is required to defeat the final boss, but uses a random amount of weapons energy and requires you to get up close to an enemy and get hit if you don't kill it out right.
On another note, Megaman's Top Spin in Smash works alot like how Top man uses it.

I feel joke characters are a waste of space in non-Original Generation fighting games, because a not-joke character could have been in instead. Not to mention if he's a complete joke that won't do any favours for popularity overseas.
If he was a Lethal Joke Character, that'd be fine though.
They could have retooled it as a frisbee-throwing minigame based on Wii Sports Resort?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI've heard/seen Top Spin is great if used sparingly. Apparently the trick is 1)not holding the button down (that depletes ammo fast) and 2)knowing what foes it'll one-shot.
And I never really thought about it being how Top Man used it. Good eye. ^_^
Maybe make him seemingly underpowered with an awesome trick that makes him good? Not a one-move-that-instantly-K Os-people thing like Jigglypuff, but something else. Difficult, but Awesome basically.

That sounds much better.
I thought Dan was just a Joke Character, not a lethal one.
Basically, I'd like him to be like Mr Game & Watch or Wii Fit Trainer. Joke characters who can actually be effective.
Then what do you suppose the Boxing Glove attack is?

A neutral jab combo, maybe?
I don't consider those two to be LethalJokeCharacters so much as they are FightingClowns. For how hilarious their attacks are, they hit strong enough to stay out of "joke" territory.
Contrast Jigglypuff who has weak attacks and horrible lag, but can effectively juggle people off-screen if used right.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaFor Fighting Clown, I hate how often the picture's change. It's like people just decide that their one is better and deserves the spot more. Even though all the pics convey the same amount of information.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"It's most likely his B move.
In fact, we know most what most of his moves are:
- Specials: Up B: Rush Coil
- Standards: A: Mega Buster - Dash Attack: Top Spin - Up A: Mega Upper - Down A: Slide Attack
- Aerials: Neutral Aerial: Aerial Mega Buster - Forward Aerial: Flame Sword - Backward Aerial: Slash Claw - Upward Aerial: Air Shooter - Downward Aerial: Hard Knuckle
- Smash Attacks: Forward Smash: Charged Mega Buster - Up Smash: Spark Shock - Down Smash: Flame Blast
- Grabs: Super Arm
Metal Blade is most likely Standard B, Crash Bomber Side B, and Leaf Shield Down B.

Define "someone". Someone in this thread? Someone in an article? Someone in an interview? Sakurai?
I have a message from another time...
