[up]Probably (he acknowledged Mega Man's popularity as well, if I remember right.)

Maybe he only said it that way because of Miiverse...

I guess with male WFT most people will think that its an alternate costume for WFT which would be the intension. Skull Kid for the otherhand is wanted int he way that he has to specify what he is doing in the game right away.

The sad thing is I've seen some people (commentors, not staff) on sites like Siliconera who thought Male Wii Fit Trainer was a separate character and complaining about him being a waste of a roster spot.

Maybe Skull Kid sends out those weird dummies from Twilight Princess.

OH PLEASE NO.

...And anyway, it's the Skull Kid from Majora's Mask rather than a generic Skull Kid, so he'll probably have some kind of effect that pertains to that game.

I wonder if they'll keep the Tingle Assist Trophy. In Brawl, the Mario series was the only series to get more than one Assist Trophy.

[up]Most likely not. Probably, Tingle will be a playable character.

[up]I don't really think he should, for the same reasons I don't want Toad. He's not really built to be combat-capable. He's stubby and has awfully short limbs. Plus his Assist Trophy was cool (Hammers for everyone!).

Well actually I think Tingle would be more interesting than Toad. But I'm fine with the Brawl Zelda roster if that's what happens.

Also, he's probably one of the very recurring Zelda characters who isn't playable in Smash, so he wouldn't be added for shallow advertising which is a plus, unlike all those Ghirahim requests...

This way of thinking is saddens me.

If anything, K. Rool being in Smash would affect his likelyhood of him being back in the DK series, not the other way round.

[up]I was saying the way of thinking where some people think the character has to be recent regardless of how important said character is to the franchise to appear in Smash is what makes me sad.

K Rool doesn't to be recent, he's the Big Bad of most of the DK series. He's earnt his place.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it I wouldn't mind Tingle's inclusion, as long as a new Assist Trophy fills the void he left, and that Sheik and Ganondorf make it in.

The Skull Kid from Twilight Princess is the one from Majora's Mask, or at least is heavily implied to be so. Just as much, if not more than the Hero's Shade being the Hero of Time.

But you're right, the design is from Majora's Mask, so it probably has something to do with that game. Maybe it's similar to DK's Final Smash, and it does the scream.

Even so, I think that if Tingle was actually a playable character, you'd have no small amount of outrage erupt over it.

EDIT: Oh, and what do you know:

Sakurai himself has openly acknowledged the American fanbase's hate for him as a reason why he won't be a playable character.

[up][up][up]Ironically, dropping the moon would ALSO be similar to DK. tongue

Anyway, regarding today's pic and the associated Miiverse comment, Sakurai Trolling Level: 9002.

Nice to see Assist Trophies are back, though. First confirmation of that.

I know what you mean. honestly speaking, recent prominent activities (or lack of them) is the last reason why Sakurai would leave off K. Rool, especially as he's not a Pokemon character or something like that.

[up][up] Did he actually say that in an interview?

Can't find a citing on it whatsoever. An interview should be linked since that's a pretty notable thing for him to say after all.

Notably, the UK Developers of the Tingle games did not talk to Sakurai about Tingle at all..., so I'm not so sure this was ever real.

There is no way that Nintendo Land minigame did not mean something for his inclusion. Why would they make an obscure Japan-only NES game a minigame in a Casual Game?

Because they had a concept for a shuriken-throwing minigame and they didn't have any other franchises that fit it?

The axe is part of the tree move.

Based on Sakurai's comment about the tree move needing "tactics like never before", I'm assuming it's not just a single action with a long animation. The axe swing is the only one of Villager's moves we've seen that seems like a logical forward smash, and it seems unlikely that they'd make you use press the button for the forward smash three times in order to use it once, so I'm thinking they're separate moves. I could be wrong, of course, but this is how it seems to me.

I was saying the way of thinking where some people think the character has to be recent regardless of how important said character is to the franchise to appear in Smash is what makes me sad.

I wasn't saying anything about whether I think he "deserves" to get in - in fact, just two posts earlier, I had put him in a list of characters I was hoping for. I was just considering the likelihood of him getting in this time around, which I think is rather low since it sounds like we won't be getting a ton of new characters this time around. He's definitely the sort of character I'd expect to see in Smash Bros eventually, but I don't expect him in this one.

The axe could be part of the tree move. Use it once? Seed. Use it another time? Can. Use it a third time? Axe.

The actual interview video that shows off the new characters does actually show it as Seed > Watering Can > Axe. All quickly in a row.

Also, it directly showed Villager jumping to answer an earlier question.
