I'd rather not Giga Mac. It's yet another transformation. I think having Doc Louis involved somehow, whether riding Mac's bike like in the training montage or cheering him on, would be best.

And huh, so that's what the Gyroid-riding attack was.

Almost certainly his Side B.

I think it's probably like this:

B: Seed/Water/Fell Tree
Side B: Lloid Rocket
Up B: Balloon Helmet
Down B: Pocket

For some reason I feel like the B and Down-B are the reverse.

Either way works for me. It was a toss-up between Tree being Down B because it makes logical sense for digging to be "down", or Pocket being Down B because that's where they traditionally put projectile cancellation moves, like reflectors, Oil Panic, or PSI Magnet.

•Little Mac is somewhat similar, although he has even fewer distinct abilities to his name, but also more notability due to being around since the NES era. You could give him a unique playstyle, of course, but then, that applies to any character. On the other hand, he's such a commonly requested character and logical choice that I still feel like he has a fairly good chance.

He's an agile boxer. that alone would make him more distinct from anyone else given they aren't boxers.

Wasn't the Gyroid Rocket shown having the Villager placing one on ground and then it flew up? Maybe it behaves differently on the ground.

I think that was the Fireworks, and it's been explained how it works anyways-

Pic of the day. The Villager's special attack, the Lloid Rocket, is a projectile weapon like no other—you can either launch it or ride on it. When you fire it off, keep pressing the button to hop aboard—you can even control its speed. It's more powerful when you're riding it.
Wait... Lloid Rocket? What did he ever do wrong?

So I guess we found out what the Villager's recovery move will be then. It sounds really interesting at least.

[up]Well, one of two. The other being the balloons. It's a Skull Bash/Quick Attack kind of thing.

Yeah- Lloid Rocket looks to be exactly no help at all for vertical recovery. Even really horizontally-focused recovery moves, like Whirling Fortress or Spinning Kong, still get some degree of vertical clearance.

I sure said that!

@Pulse: I don't know, can you steer the rocket?

It doesn't look like it (both pictures of Lloid Rocket have been purely horizontal) but if it is steerable we won't know until it's officially confirmed.

Well he said you can control its speed while you're riding it, so it seems pretty likely that you can also control the direction.

Also, only one of the pictures show him riding it, and from the perspective it's kind of hard to tell if it's horizontal (what with no ground visible).

I think "control it's speed" means exactly that (control it's horizontal speed, so you don't SD yourself in a spectacular fashion) but who knows.

I think it being steerable would be incredibly broken, though.

Think we could we see a release date and some new characters at the VGX?

I think we probably won't get a release date just yet...I do feel that a Smash Bros. trailer with a new character reveal is one of the more likely predictions for what they'll show at VGX. Either that or a Zelda U reveal, or possibly a new Bayonetta 2 trailer, would be my guesses.

Personally I'm hoping that they'd do both. Show off new characters for Super Smash Bros and announce the release date, give a trailer for Zelda U, and maybe even also reveal the new Wii U IP they've been working on. And give some more info on other upcoming 2014 games.

...That said, I honestly don't expect much of anything, Smash or otherwise. sad

Personally, I'm not really expecting new Smash news without Iwata showing up.

Am I the only one who thinks it's obvious that the Star Punch would be Mac's Final Smash?

I'd think the Star Punch would be one of his B attacks, and his FS would be either a 3-Star Punch or something else.

Star Punch on its own is sorta too mundane to be a Final Smash.

I meant 3-Star. -has not played enough Punch-Out to know there was a terminology difference-

Even then the 3-Star Punch isn't really all that special. You throw out Star Punches like confetti if you're good at gathering stars, and that includes 3-Star punches.

I'd rather see something involving Doc Louis, like him riding a bike across everyone or leading you on some training montage that somehow involves destroying everyone else. tongue

For some reason, I want it to be a huge Star Punch with Doc Louis giving a monologue in the background.

I sure said that!
