I'd come up with a list, but some franchises (Xenoblade and Golden Sun, for example) I know nothing about beyond main characters.
I know squat about Fire Emblem, though.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI... doubt that they're going to be reaching that far for third-party characters, much less three of them.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy- Little Mac
- Lucina
- Pac-Man
- Bayonetta
- Takamaru
- Palutena
...and that's pretty much it really.

Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 Smash
We Are With You Zack Snyder
I really want John Raimi from Geist to be in the game but I doubt he will since he is a ghost and also the game he is from wasn't really popular on the GCN.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI already have Peach. All I need to know is whether or not the Pokemon Trainer is confirmed to return and I'll be fine with however the roster turns out after that. The only third party character I'd want is Simon Belmont, but I'll be content with whoever shows up regardless.

The only one I really want is Isaac. The rest of my list (Little Mac, Takamaru, Saki, Shulk, Micaiah - and to a lesser extent, Ridley, King K. Rool, and Ray 01) I think would be cool to see, but wouldn't be too torn up if they don't show up. As Anomalocaris said, I just want lots of new characters, but I'm not too worried about who they end up being.
Welcome to th:|Basing things on Sakurai's comments about wanting characters who bring something different to the table, I feel like...
- Isaac and Saki (or Isa), at least, have a fairly good chance, with Isaac lending himself well to a unique Magic Knight sort of style, and Saki and Isa having those laser sword-gun things.
- Micaiah I think would also bring something pretty different, but as much as I'd like to see it, I still don't think she has a very good chance, relevance-wise.
- Shulk, it's hard to say - you could probably make him unique, or he could just end up being a generic sword-guy. It really just depends on how Sakurai thinks of it, and nobody can predict that.
- Little Mac is somewhat similar, although he has even fewer distinct abilities to his name, but also more notability due to being around since the NES era. You could give him a unique playstyle, of course, but then, that applies to any character. On the other hand, he's such a commonly requested character and logical choice that I still feel like he has a fairly good chance.
- Takamaru, on the other hand, is another that seems like he has a number of capabilities that could easily set apart from others. The main issue is his obscurity. With these kinds of characters, it's really hard to predict simply because Sakurai could be interested, as shown by the fact that he's included no-name NES characters before, or the thought could never even cross his mind. The Nintendo Land minigame helps, but I dunno.
- King K. Rool...well, I don't know that there's anything in particular that would set him apart from other heavy villain characters like Bowser and King Dedede. That plus the fact that he hasn't shown up in a DK game for a long time makes me think that (unless he has a surprise appearance in Tropical Freeze or something) he's not very likely.

Welcome to th:|Hey, Xenoblade had a huge number of status ailments (some which did nothing but enable other status ailments to hit). What if Shulk's playstyle revolved around weakening and debilitating the enemy?
...Actually, that would just distract from the Monado. Forget I said anything.

"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Well, Shulk is the only character capable of doing Break —> Topple —> Daze on his own, without in put from other party members.
Granted, the Topple requires use of a Monado Art, so...
Anyway, I'd be more intersted in a moveset where Shulk can use Monado Speed or Monado Armour to change his stats mid-fight.

I have a message from another time...Then again, Metroid isn't huge in Japan, and Other M seems to have been trashed everywhere, and Samus is returning in this game, with some Other M elements, so...

If Little Mac does get in, it might help his moveset to use moves from some of the other characters in the series. I mean, they'd still all be punches, but since they're arguably the main draw to the series and get a much wider range of attacks than he does it makes sense for them to be represented in him.
For example, one of the things I can totally see happening is Mac getting the Bull Rush as a Side-B. His F-Smash could be a two handed smash, reminiscent of what King Hippo / Bear Hugger / Mad Clown do. His running attack could be a dashing hook a la Piston Honda/Hurricane. Etc.
Also, he'd be a great candidate for a special conversation trigger like Snake (and Fox/Falco before him) - you do the up-down input on the boxing stage, and Doc Louis comes out to say a few words about your opponent (and try to get you to join the Nintendo Fun Club).
Either that or have his Final Smash be Doc Louis coming onscreen to cheer him on, getting hit in the middle of eating chocolate, and then beating the ever-loving shit out of everybody in revenge.

I can see a moveset for Little Mac revolving around star punches. Smash attacks would be the equivalent of a level 1 punch (probably the same as his tilt attacks— jab, hook, uppercut, etc. —just souped up), and he could earn stars through some method(s)* to upgrade them. Something like, if you earn a star, your next smash attack (if it connects) will have more damage and/or knockback.
As for special moves, aside from the aforementioned counter, there could be some sort of stagger punch to stun an opponent. Actually, here's a full set:
Neutral: stagger punch. Circling Birdies around a stunned opponent.
Side: raises his gloves to block. If he gets hit, he throws a counter-punch and earns a star.
Down: pulls out one of Doc Louis' chocolate bars and eats it. Gives you a free star if you're not interrupted.
Up: an uppercut that launches him into the air. Standard recovery move.
Final Smash would probably be Giga Mac.

I'm not exactly sure how popular Sonic is in Japan, but Sakurai mentioned at one point in his interview with Nintendo Power that his overseas popularity was the exact reason why he was included in Brawl. So he does factor in requests that he gets from the West, surprisingly enough.
Japanese fans know that Ridley and Little Mac are wildly popular requests overseas, so if they get in it'll be because of their popularity here. King K. Rool is pretty popular on both sides of the pond, but I don't know if he'll get in judging from his perceived lack of uniqueness and his competition with Dixie Kong.
For me, all I really just want in are Ridley and K. Rool. Everyone else is just eyecandy.
Oh, and pic of the day. Lloid Rocket, huh?

It's not that. It's just stirring the pot and basically Flame Bait. There was no point in posting that except to annoy people and cause a Flame War.
Shadow?
