Baby mammals are often cute, but humans are a big exception.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Zelda could not fight at close range in any capacity outside of stuff not made by Nintendo. That is, the Cartoons and CD-i games, plus obviously fangames.
That stuff was created solely by Sakurai so she could fight at close range. Just like he did with Fox, and Falcon, and Ness(since when did he punch and kick in his series?), etc.
The whole point is there's no reason he can't easily make up some close range moves for Kamek, and just because he'd be obviously better for long range doesn't mean he can't have any close range attacks. He has a wand. Who says he can't smack someone with it? Made up stuff has to exist for SSB and has since the start. And through all three games, and obviously will in For.

They're tacked-on cute. And annoying.
It's not proper cute. It's that cheap kind where you just give a baby version of someone a big head and eyes and call it a day.
Well normally I don't like taking massive liberties. And Zelda's been like that for two Smash games so it's not like we can go back and change it.
Would you bother punching and kicking if you had a baseball bat and pyschic powers?

No, it's this annoying trope in media where whenever they make a baby version of someone, they always have big heads and googly eyes. It irritates me. You can make things look cute without doing that.
I never ever said their crying was the reason they annoyed me.

And Twilight Princess with the Light Arrows, technically.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyThat's because actual babies look almost exactly like that. They've got huge heads and big eyes. That's not a "trope" at all.
Even Zelda's specials(save Transform) weren't just the original Spells in OOT. They all got remade for Smash. Where as Link's were not really that different from the originals at all. In the Bombs' case, 3D incarnations only.
Also, while I am not a fan of the Babies, they were hardly tacked-on and had importance to the storyline. But I don't like loud crying, as it hurts my ears. Besides that, they are presented in a decently likable manner(IMO). I really like how they separated the abilities in Partners in Time between them and the Adults. But seriously, the crying is the only thing that bothers me about them, and I have reasons for that(sensitive ears).

And she didn't use Light Arrows in Melee so it's a moot point.

I mean really exaggerated. Like they almost have anime-sized eyes in media.
Baby Sponge Bob for example. Or Baby Looney Toons. It. Annoys. Me.
Not to mention the baby characters in Mario usually end up being filler on rosters. Look at Mario Kart Wii.

Still have big heads and are spin-off roster filler for games like Mario Kart.
They're fine in Yoshi's Island or Mario games with Time Travel, but they don't need to be used outside of it.

They're adorable. People who don't like babies are soulless monsters.
