Panel De Pon/Tetris Attack might make an interesting stage. Bash the blocks into each other to trigger junk blocks raining from the sky.

It should have Link randomly going across the background.

Since that's a major thing about ALBW. Also, it could cycle between Hyrule and Lorule, visual-wise. Basically, the background and area changes, but you actually aren't on another arena either. It's like how Final Destination changes around, but the course itself(that you fight on) starts changing colors too.

@Today's daily pic: Cat suits confirmed!

I really wish 3D World was on the 3DS. 3D Land was much fun, but I won't be getting any new game systems for a long while...

@Zelda Stages: Instead of doing another Mario-based Retro stage, I'd like an NES Zelda stage, based on either the first game or the second.

[up][up]Perhaps the stage could be situated entirely on a wall, with a crack running across the middle of the stage to separate Lorule and Hyrule. Though flattening the characters' normal models in the manner of the G&W stages might not work with ALBW's artstyle, and animating sprites for every character would be a nightmare...

That's why I think it visually cycling between each would show off both greatly.

It does appear to be a bit harder to make characters look completely differently when on a stage, though. Although I think they might only do it once via the Flat Zone stages and leave it at that.

They also flattened people for Hanenbow.

I'd like a Dobkey Kong stage based on Sunset Shore, complete with silhouetted characters with distinguishing objects remaining in color, like Link's hat, to allow for team matches.

My ideal DKCR stage would be a horizontally-scrolling stage set in the jungle. with all sorts of elements from the first world. Maybe have some of the layout be a nod to the first stages of both DKCR and DKC1.

I feel the silhouette idea is unfeasible, because then they have to go and make some colour thing for every item, character, assist trophy, pokeball pokemon, projectile...

It would depend on whether or not you could just apply a visual filter to 90% of things.

I would have liked both vertical-scrolling stages if they kept a constant pace instead of speeding up out of nowhere.

Well Rumble Falls at least gives you a warning. A somewhat flimsy one, but a warning nevertheless.

Someone mentioned Mega Lucario as an alt and that reminded me of a silly idea I had for a Lucario alt: Lucario wearing Riolukid/Lucariokid's costume.

That would be me.

And can you link me a pic of this Lucariokid thing?

I definitely hope Trophies return.

Stickers, too.

Only if they make it easier to get new stickers. I've still got 19 stickers to go and and even if I spend half an hour on my sticker factory custom stage, I still don't get new ones. It's really tedious.

Again, I don't think Smash's "Pokemon Stadium" stages are meant to be named like the console games. A Pokemon Stadium 3 stage wouldn't be "A stage based off of the nonexistent game Pokemon Stadium 3", it would be "the third stage named Pokemon Stadium".

Agreed. Although I don't want the next one to be called Pokemon Stadium 3, just "Pokemon Stadium". Seems a bit stupid to name Brawl's that. Who name's a building that? When you go to a McDonald's the sign doesn't say "McDonald's 5749".

And if anyone says it's called Pokemon Stadium 2 because they have the first one in the game as well then I'd like to point out Brawl also has two stages called Yoshi's Island.

The second Link was always a clone. Getting the character is something to play as. Nobody was really denied anything, because they still actually do not play the same either.

Not true - they will be denied another character option, because we've already heard that they're cutting characters for space reasons. Since Mini Link isn't one of those cut characters, his inclusion means that another character who could have been in the game was axed instead.

[up]Which is why clones should be decloned even more than ever this time around.

The thing I don't get is that Sakurai could declone them if he tried. He made up a moveset for the Wii Fit Trainer for crying out loud! How can he be so creative for some characters, and then be so unwilling to diversify with the next?

The one in Brawl is still called Pokemon Stadium 2 regardless. That's the name of the stage. I'd like the next one to be called Pokemon Coliseum if only to reference the actual games as is. Never hurts to do a Call Back to 'em. Especially when it's just a name.

Yet another argument about Toon Link?

@Stages: I'd like to see a Mario Party stage in the vein of Warioware.

Well I'm really, really getting tired of people complaining about Toon Link's inclusion. I am ambivalent to the whole thing, but from what I've read from this thread, it would seem as if Sakurai had cut out an Original 12 character, in terms of outrage.

[up]No you don't get it. I wanted Toon Link to return. I was relieved when he returned. I was pumped when he returned. I was excited when he returned.

What I'm not happy about is that he's still a clone with wasted potential who will make poor regular Link redundant like he did last time. Especially when Sakurai said he was cutting characters and that he didn't want to add fighting game characters because he wanted characters that brought something to the table that others didn't.

It's so easy to declone him to. Look, ready?

  • B: Skull Hammer
  • Side B: Bomb Chu
  • Up B: Deku Leaf
  • Down B: Iron Boots
  • Final Smash: Hurricane Spin

There. Wasn't so hard was it?

Don't misquote that.

He didn't want to add in new characters who already played as other characters. And he was talking about new characters from other fighting series. He's talking about characters like Ryu when we have ones like Mario and Luigi who already played fairly similarly.

He never was talking about previous clones at all. That's ignoring the context entirely. It also contradicts what he said about Toon Link, who had the same specials as a rule. Which he kept, making it clear his statement about other fighting series had nothing to do with earlier Smash clones.

[up][up]How about you link to this supposed rule about Child Link having to have the same moves?

[up]The "wasn't so hard" bit was rhetorical. It's fine.

[up] x 5: Your use of "people" implies a plurality to the "Toon Link is a waste of space" camp that I'm pretty sure doesn't exist. As far as I can tell, there's one person who just happens to complain constantly about it.

What exactly is the point of having a character with the same moves but is shorter again? It really does make Toon Link seem like he's competing for Link's niche for no reason.

Worst. Rule. Ever.

[up]What's worse is it's not really much of a competition as Toon Link is far superior capability-wise.

See you guys, this guy gets it.

[up][up] They're two different kinds of Links. You can't really rep the Toon games with adult Link or vice versa with Toon Link. In order to properly show them off, you need both versions there. Likewise, since there is no such thing as a "Toon Link" in the Zelda games proper, he's just showing off yet another Link with the same iconic moves as normal. Makes sense, really.
