Technically, it's his New Mystery look, which isn't the same, but since that game didn't come out of Japan...
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Wait, Mega Evos for all the characters does seem like a good idea of sorts... though "Mega Megaman" sounds hilariously repetative. I think I have something for some characters:
- Mega Mario: Fire/Star/Tanooki Mario
- Mega Luigi: Mr. L
- Mega Sonic: Super/Hyper Sonic
- Mega Megaman: Super Megaman
- Mega Link: Fierce Diety/Wolf Link
- Mega Samus: Fusion Suit Samus
and so on.
Mega Toon Link: gets the Four Sword and all four links attack as one entity.
Mega Kirby: THIS THING.
The Fire Emblem characters would probably end up promoting for their Mega forms - unrelated to whether any of them would have a chance of appearing, Ike would likely have Vanguard, Roy/Chrom/Hector could have Great Lord, Robin Grandmaster, and Anna might work with Bride; but I'm not sure about Marth. He could use the Shield of Seals, perhaps...?
...He has not been confirmed yet, but he represents an entirely different series. Removing him removes a series instead of a character simply in a series. I wouldn't expect any series to be removed unless it's Third Party and Snake at worst.
Yoshi hasn't been confirmed either, but he's part of the Original 12, so he'll obviously be back.
Shadow?I'm guessing Yoshi will be announced around the time Yoshi's NEW Island is released.
And, like I've said before, I hope Wario comes back, but with a moveset overhaul. I like the idea of him using Confusion Fu, but I'd like more references to Wario Land.
I think Sakurai said he didn't like Wario Land. Which explains the Wario Ware inspired moves.
But yeah, losing Wario is the exact same as losing Mr. Game & Watch, that's one full series gone for no reason. Third Party is the least important, but I'd still rather not lose Snake, but he only got in for one reason, Kojima's Son wanted him in, so he doesn't add anything Nintendo-wise to SSB itself, meaning him being gone isn't a giant deal compared to any other series being entirely removed.
Wario fully represents a non-Mario series, as does Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Yoshi. It's been this way since all their appearances and it makes no sense to ever treat the DK series as a Mario series(especially when the DK series came first, making that more ridiculous. The Mario series fully spun off from the Donkey Kong series, after all)
Shadow? The two games were one game to begin with, with the two characters having roughly equal prominence. They split. One used the original name, one didn't.
The Donkey Kong arcade game is more like a common ancestor to the Mario series and the Donkey Kong series. ... and the Mario and Donkey Kong series, now that I think about it.
And I know that you're about to say something like "No. It was the Donkey Kong series. Period." So let's just skip that. I'm not about to discuss it any more, and there's really nowhere it can go. If that's your position, then fine. I've said what my position is, and I'm not going to make any attempts to convince you of it beyond this, so I think we're good.
Wario does have at least one Wario Land-inspired move, I should mention. His forward-smash is his trademark shoulder-charge. Even moreso in Wario-Man state, where it covers more distance.

I have a message from another time...Wario =/= Yoshi =/= Mario =/= Donkey Kong for the purposes of Smash. They can be related, but they still represent their own series. That's why they were given their own symbol. Honestly, I cringe whenever they're called the "Mario 8" since it's widely inaccurate(I really don't care who does it). Should be the "Donkey Kong 8" since they all spun-off from DK overall.(and that's actually what really happened)
So no, entirely disagree. And yes, Donkey Kong spun off into Mario and Donkey Kong Country. Doesn't change that it was Donkey Kong first regardless. The series took off from there, and it deserves the credit for introducing the overall Mario series in the first place. Mario doesn't deserve anything here, since it was nothing but a spin-off from the start.
Wario being removed means the Wario series gets removed. It does not mean anything Mario-related got removed. Also, yeah, I don't know why he doesn't like Wario Land, possibly because it's just Mario Land Redux, and he wanted Wario to show off his own unique series. Also explains why he gave him his own symbol, since Wario Ware isn't really related to the Mario series at all(besides Wario being the star at best). Yoshi's overall series is widely different from Mario, and so is Donkey Kong's.
So I can't accept they're anywhere near similar enough to tie them together beyond "they all officially can travel among eachother's worlds" and I leave it at that. What they really need to do is more DK sports games with Mario characters, since Mario is just a spin-off of the DK series in reality.
Shadow?Yup. That made pretty much the exact turn I thought it might.
And you're entitled to that position. I'll not say another word on the subject. You stick with your position, I'll stick with mine.
Anyway. Are there any characters who you thought missed an opportunity for a good move? Especially if their moveset doesn't seem to be brimming with good ideas anywy? I feel like, instead of that weird spin thing Wario has, he could have used something involving the Super Carrot form Six Golden Coins, that being his debut title. Or something from Wario Land. Does he get a flight-capable hat in that one? And I've made my desire for Sonic to have the Bounce Smash and Sonic Wave in his moveset known.
Ganondorf's a whole moveset of those sorts of things. That said, I feel like he could concievably keep most of his moveset. Just change some of his specials. His Up B coud be a flight mode like Pit's, with the old sound effect from Ocarina. His Warlock Punch could change when used in the air, into a downward shockwave dive. And you couldd give him a chargable energy ball move. Flame Choke stays, though.

I have a message from another time...I like some of Ganondorf's specials. I'd keep Flame Choke, either keep Wizard's Foot or rename one of his moves to having Wizard in it(since he is a Wizard anyway), and keep Dark Dive, since it fits his style of being a magical character that can do just about anything. I also fully support his Toon incarnation, since he'd be an agile two-sworded character. Something that doesn't exist at all in Smash.(that, and if we even have a Namdai character, I don't think Lloyd really has a fair chance overall compared to some others) Also, Energy Balls. I'm iffy on his Earthquake Punch. Unless it's called Wizard's Quake.
Luigi should have the Poltergust. Also, I want to see him use his Flashlight among his taunts or victory taunts. Maybe one where he twirls it around and shows it off similar to how Dr. Mario did that with his stethoscope in Melee. Alternatively, he could use it in an attack or two, like hitting them over the head for his A move while holding someone. Because hey, if it works... Poltergust would me a great way for him to throw(or start the grab). Mario is more known for his twirling characters around than Luigi is, after all.
Shadow? No, they are not synonyms. Warlocks are just male magic users(and the male term for a witch). Wizards are specific magic users that study from books and are known specifically for having high intelligence, their main stat. Also, all 3 are entirely different Classes in D&D, so they're pretty separated. They aren't treated the same among various cultures. They do seem similar, and the whole naming scheme was just "magic user-sounding names" for Sakurai. It's also possible since Ganondorf's Mother(s) is/are Witches, saying the male term Warlock for a move was just a fun Genius Bonus. However, Wizard is his most appropriate class according to what he does. I think there was another Mage-Fighter combo class name, though. But I don't think he fits the Battle Mage archtype, simply because of his Sword styles. He's a clear multi-class, although one could argue that he's just that damn good and used magic to learn all of those things too.(he can use a computer in Brawl, who knows how he did that? Besides intelligence, could've been magic, even)
Ganondorf fits the Wizard archtype, but he also is a Monk(in Smash) fighting wise, or has tons of classes in Swordsman-style ones. Not sure which, though. Possibly a Ninja for WW, and a regular Berserker otherwise.
Agreed on the Diddy bit.
Shadow? You know, there isn't really a super-defined definition of warlock/wizard/witch/mage/dude-who-breaks-physics. There's a reason Unequal Rites varies by work of fiction. Like, a warlock in the Harry Potter universe is very different from a warlock in Dungeons And Dragons.
I say just go with whichever one sounds cooler. I don't think the main Zelda series calls him either a wizard or a warlock (unless you count that one time his ghost was a wizard, I think), so it doesn't really matter much. Or go middle-ground and give his moves names that are actually similar to things in the main series. So, like, "Gerudo King Punch" or something.
"We're home, Chewie."

Full makeover? Martha confirmed.
