I would say "Robin" is as much a canon name for that character as "Link" is for the hero of Legend of Zelda, being the default name of a renamable player character.
And so yeah, I'd say Robin's odds increased with this, as did the odds for a female Villager.

I have a message from another time...Considering Villager is a non-specific PC that (as of New Leaf) can look however the heck you want, regardless of gender (plus he's a Heroic Mime as far as I can tell), I'd be surprised if Villager didn't get a female costume at all.
On today's subject: first of all, we'll either call him Buff Armstrong or Ken. Secondly, I am pleasantly surprised by this. When I think about it, it makes sense- Guy Fit Frainer and Miss Fit aren't any more or less important than each other, even if Miss Fit is the more popular (and more recognizable) one.
Before today, though, I wasn't expecting him at all.

I wonder if Villager will get the opposite treatment?
I'd imagine the female Trainer and male Villager would be the "defaults" and these would be alterate designs in a similar vein to Wario's overalls?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
