You probably want to go to Handling Spoilers for info on just what's fair game... though even that's rare. I kind of figure that Donkey Kong '94 is fair game because you know going in just what's waiting for you at the end - Mario is going to have a barrel-throwing fight with Donkey Kong. Technically, if anything, I'm the one being awful about spoilers - the game advertises 100 levels (right on the box and in the manual), and it's natural to assume that DK is your fight in level 100. Me mentioning that there's one last fight as Level 101 is the spoiler.
In this case, I looked at the trope page, noted that we say up front that there are 97 levels after the remakes of the original four stages from the original game, and figured we were pretty much spoilers off. Though I guess there is one spoiler of note in regards to that game - it's the first time in the series history that Mario's final foe goes One-Winged Angel; the final foe isn't just Donkey Kong, but Giant Donkey Kong.
Unrelated to spoilers or music... I hope they finally tweak Master Hand and Crazy Hand a bit. Maybe it's me, but they were way too predictable in Brawl, allowing me to just do the same thing I did to them both in Melee (and almost exactly what I did to Master in the original). Alternately, I'd at least like to see Master and Crazy take revenge on Tabuu. I'm a fanboy too; I have my wants.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Aside from music from other games, I'd like to hear a modernized remix of Master Hand's battle theme
from Smash 64 note , as well as the Smash 64 Metal Mario music
.
@Footsteps: I read Handling Spoilers' policy on The Mousetrap and thought, "...Seriously?". Now I just want spoil that even more.
Master Hand is stronger in Brawl, with greater knockback than Crazy and some attacks come out faster, making them far harder to predict. Admittedly, this is relatively subtle - the most notable change is that Gun fires once and simply crouching won't help you.

"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"I second Saturn Valley as a stage. LADDERS
I also second Crocodile Cacophony, and for other songs...
- World Tournament Final Battle from Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 (seriously, this is a perfect song for Smash Bros.)
- Another Dimension, Vs. Magolor and C-R-O-W-N-E-D from Kirby's Return to Dreamland. Not all three, but it's hard to choose between them.
- Sanctuary Guardian from EarthBound/MOTHER 2
- We Are The Robots and Strange World from Mega Man 9
And there's probably more but I want to end the list now.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaWell, I'm not the best to ask about spoiler policy, because I don't really care about them at all. Especially here - this is a site devoted to cataloging tropes. You should know what you're getting into when you come here.
I never noticed Master or Crazy getting tweaked in Brawl, because the techniques I used worked just as well as they did in previous incarnations. For Master's finger bullet, for example, I never ducked - I'd always jump really high, and then quick fall at the apex of the jump. Master can't track that fast, and would always fire above me (well, unless I played as Fox, Melee Falco, or Wolf, in which case I'd just use the Attack Reflector to send the bullets back). I'm really hoping to see some more diversity out of the two.
I have the feeling I'm going to be disappointed by the choices for music culled from Pokemon... it seems like they're stingy with the really epic songs, based on previous generations.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. They also only choose from the main games, leaving out tons of really good music from the side games.
I wonder what they'll do this time for the console version if all the main-series Pokemon games are handheld games? They could have another Stadium stage seeing as it's an OG stage, but what will they do for music without breaking the console/handheld rule OR pulling from side games?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It's not so much as a rule as it as a guideline. The latest incarnation of Pilotwings is on the 3DS and we've seen an Animal Crossing: New Leaf Stage for the Wii U version. Needless to say, they don't have to worry about breaking the rule as they already have.
And I'm pretty sure music doesn't factor into it but what do I know?
"we have to get vaccines against hunger"To be fair, when they first started showing off what they were doing with Animal Crossing in the newest Smash, I don't think they had revealed much about New Leaf - so anything related to AC would have to be associated with City Folk by default, as it was the most recent in the series at the time. At this point, they may be tweaking it or making a New Leaf level (maybe the island?) and they just haven't announced it.
Alternately, maybe it's actually going through different incarnations of the various towns in the series, and they've only shown the City Folk section so far.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.New Leaf was already out at the time of Smash 4's unveiling, though.
And the trailer included New Leaf designs of Tom Nook. The Wii U stage reverts all the NPC characters to their City Folk designs, though.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Pokemon-wise, I have way too many songs to list that I'd like to hear, so I'm just going to wait and be surprised. However, I would like this remix of N's theme from the soundtrack to be in the game
.
EDIT: I hope the Magolor battlefield (or just Another Dimension) should be a stage in the fourth installment.

Any major plot stuff is always spoiler-based no matter what, especially if it's supposed to be originally. And even more especially if it's in a topic not dedicated to the particular game/show/book/whatever. And some topics are spoiler-free as well. Keep those spoiler marked regardless for the courtesy of many. What they're talking about being fine to spoil is less notable stuff, like a character appearing in a new game; For instance, many of the X/Y stuff was considered spoilers in any topic but its own, but the main plot twists were always spoilers(at least in every topic but its own till one month after).
Anyway, as much as I'd love to see some anime remixes of video game Pokemon themes, I have a feeling they have zero chance. We got the not-so-notable Pokemon Gym theme in Brawl compared to the Intense Action version from the anime itself. One is just a soft midi, while the other is a full rock or metal type music that gets you actually pumped up. The other part is that they kind of ruined its impact by combining it with the Evolution theme. I'd at least separate them, even if we never get the anime remixes.(to note, I'd expect possibly the B/W anime remix of the Pokemon Gym theme if we did get an anime-based version, which is much closer to the game version, instead, if any, but that's due to being the latest version of the music. It also depends if X/Y remixes it once more)
Mind you, while there is other great music from the Anime, I'd only prefer it if it's actually originated from the game first, since you know, actual content should be from the games, where it's fine if influences come from any media.
Shadow?Getting back to Sonic for a moment, anyone think the Wisps would be interesting items to throw into the game? I honestly couldn't possibly tell you how well that'd work, considering they seemed very tailored to Sonic's gameplay, but I'm sure there'd be some way that they could work in Smash. What do y'all think?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. But if Link's the opponent, that means he gets defeated. And you don't play as him then (assuming you aren't allowing for Mirror Matches in this WMG).
So technically the canon protagonist would be either Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, or Ness, as they are the only characters that you don't have to battle in Classic mode.
@Little Mac - Yeah, it'd make sense if he was revealed next year. Although I hope they don't do it on the actual date of his game's release, because it didn't come out in Japan until the 27th of November...
And no, Irene, the starters are important without the Anime and Pokemon Trainer did not have the starters "because of Ash".
I didn't say he was. You said he said there were no other feasible characters, and I didn't know you meant by being in Movies (READ: Shallow Executive Meddling choices), so I based it of what feasible means, as in, what could work, not whether it should be chosen or not.
And he could work. Granted, Typholsion is equally workable. But Meganium wouldn't work.
And I'd like to note that Pikachu walks on two legs, has hands, and uses them in conjunction with its mouth. And even though he holds items in his mouth, he can use some with his hands.
Yeah, Nintendog using it's non-opposable paws to fire guns and picking up huge crates with it's mouth. Not likely.
And at this point the "too peaceful" Villager is dropping bowling balls on people's heads and chopping trees down so they fall on people.
Squirtle and Ivysaur definitely are not close to Blastoise or Venusaur in any way whatsoever.
Seriously, what? Zelda and SS Impa are not even the same person, that's really dumb. That just feels like some dumb advertising move, especially because SS Impa is equally as one-shot as Sheik. Sheik is at least tied to Zelda by actually being her.

I don't think it's likely, but the Wonderful 101 themes that would go with a Blossom City stage would probably be
and, since Bayonetta was a secret character in the game, and might fit as an Assist Trophy, You May Call Me Father and Mysterious Destiny would be decent hidden tracks.
