*shrug* Who knows? Hell, Mato has worked on official translations of video games before, so they could potentially use his script if they were to port it over for an English release. It's highly unlikely, I suppose, but it's at least a possibility. Besides, until the past few months, no one ever thought Earth Bound would ever see a Virtual Console release, and lo and behold...

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I'm the kinda guy who, when he thinks there's a 0.000000000001% chance of something, won't say that it has no chance of happening, but rather that it's extremely unlikely. I'm very literal-minded like that, probably because of Asperger's.
I wonder if I said too much.

That's another way of putting it.

"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Yeah.
Speaking of stuff that is spoilers, you could probably have Prison Island as a stage without it being spoilery, yeah? You do visit it about 3/8 of he way through the game, even if you do visit it again later.
Though, I'd prefer Eryth Sea itself as a stage. Perhaps not a flyby stage, but one where the platform is slowly rotating to show off the environment.
I have a message from another time...There is no Hinawa trophy.
@VC - I wish Nintendo would just make their Virtual Console's share libraries. It's silly how they do that. What with Super Mario World not being available on 3DS and Super Mario Bros 3 not being available on Wii U. Sharing libraries with some sort of account system between consoles would have a nice, consistant, unified experience to it.

I agree, I don't see why there should be any limit on which games are in which VC library. I suppose it made sense previously to have console games on the console and handheld games on the handheld...but if they're really putting a GBA VC store on the Wii U, then that just kinda screws that all up, don't it?
Now explain that in a way that makes sense to someone who knows nothing about the Mother series
Isn't his spider mech only a spoiler to people who haven't played Earth Bound?
Granted, his transition from the neighborhood brat (who really wasn't even that bad) to an Enfante Terrible Magnificent Bastard of world-ending proportions (and due to how out-of-control Giygas was, arguably the outright Big Bad of the game) occurred off-screen, so how he became an arch-villain is still a bit of a mystery to me, too.

No, but someone who played Earthbound but not Mother 3 would be spoiled immensely. And someone who hasn't played Earthbound at all would be spoiled to the fact that Porky is a villain rather than just a brat.
It is sorta moot since the game's probably never going to be translated, though. Anyone who is still avoiding spoilers is going to be waiting a long time.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Speaking of Earthbound, how would you guys feel about Ness being a start-off character again?
Personally, I'd like him to be, because I think that while he is fun, he's not exactly secret character material. I'd rather have Lucas be the unlockable one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMPorky being the antagonist of 3 was supposed to be a plot twist of sorts. At the end of Mother 2/Earthbound, he escapes after Giygas's defeat somehow and The Stinger had him leave a note for Ness telling him to come find him. 3 reveals that the cause of the terrible tragedies that befell Lucas's quaint island home was Porky himself, and everything in New Pork City has a ton of references to Earthbound, even when it's just being a backdrop for a Smash stage. The bigger twist was probably that Porky became an old man (you were led to believe he was the same age as he was in Earthbound), and his Spider Mech is essentially his life-support system.
Porky's name in Earthbound was Pokey, however, so anyone that only played Earthbound and never went to the internet to look up the 3rd game (somehow) probably wouldn't have guessed that Pokey was Porky until reading his trophy entry, which mentions his part in 3, though not to any great detail. In Japan, his name was always Porky, so the twist was obvious, though I think the game tries to fake you out a bit.
I think that's about the only extent the spoilers for 3 go to.
I'm fine with it. I think he was only hidden in Brawl so Lucas could get a chance to shine more.

Yeah, that was still pretty annoying for them to spoil it for others. But eh.
I honestly would love for them to reverse who was hidden(in Melee) by having Falcon and Ness hidden this time with Jigglypuff and Luigi a starter. Ness being hidden doesn't bother me, really. It seemed silly that the new character wasn't, though. One fun part about new characters is them also being hidden, meaning it's a surprise for more people to find out by playing through the game.(not counting spoiling oneself via the internet)
Ness was hidden in 64 and Brawl.

Shadow?I'd personally like Ness and Captain Falcon to be start-off characters like in Melee. I'm a bit iffy on Luigi being a start-off character because four start-off characters from one franchise feels like overkill.
Also, I'm kinda worried that the new Smash Bros site isn't spoiler-friendly. For all we know, Luigi, Toon Link and Sonic could be secret characters again. And I don't think Sakurai would block out the daily pic with a spoiler warning if it had a secret character or stage in it. One of the features of the Dojo I liked was that it was spoiler-friendly.
Notice how the four secret characters were two from already repped series and two that were the least-mainstream games repped.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMThe reason I'd like some of them as starters is because Melee already did that. The reason I want that reversed is namely because Luigi is more than awesome enough to be a Starter, and Jigglypuff is the only Pokemon besides Pikachu to appear in every game to date. Also, she could've been a starter in Melee easily. 3 unlockable Pokemon with one Starter was kinda silly, imo. Luigi I can understand being an unlockable again to somewhat even it out, on the other hand, Dr. Mario was there, so that didn't matter. I wouldn't have minded having to unlock, say, Ice Climbers and Bowser instead.
Of course, I was not a fan of Brawl making a good chunk of the new characters Starters, but who knows how he'll set it up this time around. I actually would've liked Lucas, Wario, Pokemon Trainer, Olimar, and Ike the unlockable ones, with Ness, Luigi, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, and Marth the starters. I do see why showing off the new ones more from the start was a good thing, however. Seeing new blood gets people more hyped up. It seriously did make people happy to see more than just the Original 12 coming back, and mostly everyone in Melee return.(and in some cases, some similar substitutes for them. Lucario definitely is not that similar to Mewtwo, or even replaced him, but he does remind people of him. Toon Link is obvious for Young Link. Wario is also an overweight heavy fighter than somewhat reminds me of Dr. Mario. Ike shares one move with Roy, but both being a Flame-like swordsman helped ease the blow. I felt like Roy's spirit was kept overall)
So I was happy with them. Pichu got no one, but at least we got an unique character with Pokemon Trainer... with a Scrappy Mechanic with Stamina, Forced Switching, and Elemental Damage(that affects no one but them for some reason). So again, the spirit of the Scrappy Mechanic is kept.(keep in mind I find all 4 of the overall characters very fun to play as and am not honestly bothered by any of the mechanics, even though I agree losing them, save Pichu's, since that would make him pretty much pointless unique-wise, isn't a bad thing overall). To note, I consider Lucario Pichu's true replacement, being different from first Gen Pokemon, and before I knew Mewtwo was originally planned, Pokemon Trainer as Mewtwo's replacement. I never once really considered Mewtwo and Lucario related at all. Yeah, one move, sooooo similar. They don't even play much alike at all.(their body shapes are slightly similar, which didn't help people's "Replacement Scrappy" thing, though)

Shadow?Eh, I feel differently. The secret four can stay secret, as 3 out of 4 of them have representatives from other series as starters as of Brawl (and the fourth's series was still represented at the start through a stage, I believe). The guest stars can be secret, and out of the Brawl people, I like how many of them were awailable from the start (though I hope a couple of the newcomers in For. are secret characters).
Incidentally, with Toon Link being confirmed, I wonder if Sakurai won't keep unlockable characters a secret until after launch anymore, which is fine by me.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!The problem is that once Ness and Falcon were made a Starter at one time, they can be again. So it somewhat bothered me they got their old status back.
Anyway, related, if a character has to be unlocked, I'd prefer if their stage would be too. This includes past stages. I think that if Falcon needs to be unlocked again, that his two inevitable stages should both require unlocking. Same with Luigi(assuming they put in a past stage related to him instead of just the typical Mario stage). I don't know what series besides the ones that had past stages in Brawl should get one, though. I'd say "veterans", but Mr. Game & Watch didn't get a past stage, so...
Shadow?

Wait what? When was this announced?
I suppose that's the last hope for Mother 3, isn't it? Maybe it can go the way of Sin and Punishmet. Although, S&P had the advantage of already being voiced in English, and having minimal text.
I have a message from another time...
