Nintendo explicitly admitted, even back in the 80's, that first-quest Hyrule in the original The Legend Of Zelda was heavily based on a left-to-right mirror of the state of Washington. Yes, there are various changes based on what makes for an interesting game as well as the limits of just how well you could imitate a real world map with 8-bit sprites from the 1980's, but this isn't just idle conjecture on my part - Nintendo has always been forward about how they came up with the map.
As for if Nintendo would ever cull from American sources for major parts to their games... ask Seattle-area landlord Mario Segale. Well, if he ever gave public interviews, that is.
My point is, Nintendo is one of the least consistent about how various elements from games that get carried over are depicted from one game to the next. And this isn't even about graphical engine upgrades - the shapes of the world and proportions between different versions of the characters distinctly change between incarnations. In short, if Ridley does show up as playable, it doesn't matter overall whether he's larger than Bowser or somehow shorter than Kirby (not that they would, but it's a funny mental image). All that matters is how well he plays.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. In other news, Link's shield can still block things
, though he mentions a "reaction" to that now. So I guess Link can't just stand there and block a bunch of attacks without dropping his guard or something.
I assume Toon has the same characteristic, but his small size means his shield's deflect is less useful to him (unless that changed too).
I'm going to bet that they'll hold off on revealing info about Pokeballs until they reveal what the Mew Expy will be in X and Y. It'll have an absurdly low appearance rate and do something relatively minor, like unlock gallery pictures or something.
Also, I'm going to guess that we won't get any big reveals that aren't Pokemon-related until after X and Y are released. One of the biggest rules of public relations is that you don't undercut your big message. When your big message is "releasing a new title of one of the biggest franchises you have," that means holding off on big news about your other big news about other big franchises.
If they do an announcement in the next week or something, I'd bet, dollars to donuts, that it'd just be another returning character, like Zelda or Ice Climbers. Something that'll keep fans happy but not undercut the biggest news of the cycle.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Irene: Yeah. There are a lot of Pokemon that could make sense given X and Y. Mewtwo has its Mega forms, Jigglypuff is now part Fairy, Lucario has a Mega form, Pokemon Trainer's Charizard has two Mega Forms, and a new Kalos Pokemon would work well. Heck, even Hoenn Trainer would work because on top of there being hints at a remake Blaziken now has a Mega form as well. I wonder how Sakurai is going to make the decision of who to include when he has so many options.

The NoA offices are located in Washington state, at least.
I sure said that!
