I think it's more because of Covid making developing the things harder than normal.
Hoo boy does Steve look gimmicky and complex. Fun, though.
I'm wondering what happens if you break all your tools, though. Can he mine with just his bare fist?
Also what happens if you try to mine the Bulborb on the Distant Planet stage?
I couldn't believe all that time in the showcase just for his B move. That was crazy. Its like 3 moves in one.
All the extensive work put into this fighter package shows that Sakurai doesn't hate Minecraft or he was forced at gunpoint by Nintendo to do it. You could argue that he somewhat dreaded the idea of making Steve just because of all the work into it, but he didn't hate it.
-Witty line-Finally got to see the Steve breakdown. Was it really a good idea to make Steve this micromanagey?
I figure there are a lot of Minecraft players who are going to get Smash just to play Steve in a fighting game. They'd already have to put up with a rough adjustment period if Steve was just an ordinary rushdown character or simple zoner; now, they'd need to learn an extremely technical keepaway/deep edgeguard playstyle with heavy resource management while Ness spams PK Fire in their faces and Min Min punches them from across the stage. I can't imagine that would be all that fun for them.
If they're coming from Minecraft, they should have some prior experience with on-the-fly resource management and keeping an eye on their status/location.
He looks like he'll have a higher learning curve than most, but despite the complexity it looks easier than Rosalina or even Olimar. Most of the gimmick boils down to just mining resources when you have spare time.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I hope no one wanted to see classic mode in this presentation, because he kinda forgot to show it.
Forgot.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

Its ironic that of the 3 most recent FE games in Smash (Awakening, Fates and Houses), its Fates that gets the alt amiibo for its character. I thought with the success of Awakening and Houses that Female Robin and Female Byleth were guaranteed to gets amiibos.
Shame. I would have bought them.
But, anyway, give me my damn Banjo-Kazooie amiibo now.
