I can see the other Hero choices as Square Enix: Erdrick to please the old-school fans and people who only know about him, Eight to please the Western fanbase, and Solo... somebody needs to explain Solo to me because he's the most out-of-nowhere pick out of the four.
Solo has the best character design.
I like Solo the most since his alt resembles DQ 1's Hero.
Now for something bigger.
Sakurai's clear this is the last six characters. The game's DLC is being finished after that. So no bonus DLC.
That article was never posted specifically. Unless I missed the Source Gaming one being posted?
Various news site articles with inconsistent translations were the only thing active(and they didn't all say the same thing due to different sources). This is the first one with a solid statement.
Shadow?I'd say pretty bad, honestly.
Sakurai's own presentation, however, is pretty good. It only revolves around one person doing a lot. Compared to multiple people coming together.
I'm guessing we'll have the normal announcement for the ARMS presentation via Twitter, and then a normal presentation in June, not really different from what Byleth's was like. Most of the Smash presentations were about the same. Joker was the only one small at best, and he still spent a decent amount of time talking about the mechanics. Just not the history of the franchise. My guess is that he had no real presentation style set just yet, with Joker being an anomaly in design. He did get revealed earlier than planned, so that might've made things a lot harder.
Shadow?
x3 The only thing we know for certain is there is going to be the next Character, who will be from ARMs. No concrete evidence on anything else but it, although I wouldn't be surprised if on the same day we get the announcement of ARMs 2.
This character is most likely going to be released same day, too.

That does sound like it checks out.
It's been, what, nearly 5 months since Byleth got release?
Kinda why I want someone to take over when Sakurai's done so we can get things like the Echo Fighters or more alt outfits & color schemes.
Terry seems like a Sakurai pick considering how he geeked out about the SNK.
Who the fuck knows who selected Banjo
Byleth MIGHT have been Nintendo's decision, but let's not act like it took Sakurai much convincing.
Eleven being the default Hero was definitely Nintendo's decision. But in general, Hero the concept could have gone either way really.
See that's why I shake my head. Why do people think that Sakurai gushing about something and something being an executive mandate are mutually exclusive? Note that Sakurai is a gamer at heart and loves plenty of games, even if I question his tastes; and that he does his best to represent the character regardless of the choice given to him.
For instance, why wouldn't Nintendo pick Joker, the most in-vogue character for Atlus? Like even to this day they still milk that Persona 5 cowtit with gusto. Sakurai geeking out with Terry doesn't really mean squat considering how he didn't actually geek out with T Gerry as much as SNK, and if you pay attention to him his actual favorite characters are Iori and Ryo - if anything it's SNK showing that Terry is their main man. And no, remember that even back as Corrin, Sakurai already knew it was too much Fire Emblem but his staff told him that they can make Corrin work.
All of them are Nintendo picks especially when you realize that the mindset of the DLC is simple: "people will buy Smash and the DLC when they see said character being in Smash".

So, my friend and I were talking about characters, I mentioned Neptune (of course), and he seems convinced that we’d get all four of the main girls a la Hero. (He’s never played the games, he’s going off Facebook comments)
I told him that won’t happen. Mainly because none of the girls share the same weapon, plus we’d either just get Neptune (protagonist) or Blanc (Nintendo goddess).
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!
