Is that the case with any of the space animals in any other game, or anyone else with a reflector?

With Tails, it should be noted that him exclusively using the Mech Walker in SA 2 itself was really bizarre.

I definitely have heard a bunch of Sonic fans on You Tube pretty much state that Tails being confined to a mech makes no sense. (Though it's because Tails, Shadow, and Rouge were shoehorned in at the last minute)

Count me as one of them.

What about Team Chaotix as a threefer?

Shadow as a more aggressive Sonic using weapons from his game could work too? The only reason I know not to go this route is due to the game's subpar-ness.

Hell, in Sonic Adventure 1, Tails' levels were Sonic's, but with more diverse platforming challenges.

Alright, I'm slowly going back through and working on that complete moveset.

[up][up][up][up]Reflectors could break in the first 2 games, and in the later games, reflections fail, instead.

[down]I mean, he was the first character designed in the series to still exist (after him was Sonic, and then Vectornote ).

While Tails makes more sense from a rep standpoint since he's Sonic's Luigi, I vastly prefer Eggman as a potential second Sonic rep.

The legend has returned.

Yes eggman’s the only sonic character I can think of (besides omega) that would share absolutely no moves with sonic.

Not to mention eggman’s been in nearly every sonic game.

[down]sharing only one move is still sharing a move

[up][up]By that logic, Samus and Lucario are the same because they both have a charging ball projectile.

I mean that Eggman would have absolutely NOTHING in common with sonic, whether it be moves, attributes, or anything else.

They only said sharing a move, not that sharing a move makes them the same.

How about Amy with her hammer? Kirby, King Dedede and Ice Climbers already have hammers, but at least its not a sword.

Another idea. Sonic's werehog form. Given characters with different forms now have separate slots, what if they did something like this for third party?

Not to mention the other Stylish Action characters that could get in.

[down] tails has used the homing attack in so little games that it would probably not be in the moveset.

What? In every fighting game so far, they've shared a couple moves. And of course Tails also has the Homing Attack.

[up]What game does he have the Homing Attack in?

I'm thinking making Tails a combination of SA 1, Advance, and Battle.

He used the homing attack in Sonic Advance 3, Shadow the Hedgehog, and I believe in Sonic 4. The problem is more that he hasn't had many playable appearances since then. Few of the cast have. In fact, since 2007 (when the Sonic Rush and Sonic Rivals series ended), the only mainline Sonic games to feature someone other than Sonic as playable are:

  • Sonic 4
    • Episode 1: Metal Sonic (4 levels only)
    • Episode 2: Tails
  • Sonic Mania: Tails and Knuckles (full game), Mighty and Ray (full game, as DLC)
  • Sonic Forces: Player Avatar, and Shadow (as DLC: 3 level special episode, and patched in to work in some Modern Sonic levels)
In the spinoff Sonic Boom continuity, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks are all playable. the Endless Runner games Sonic Dash and Sonic Runners had others playable.

I'm thinking making Tails a combination of SA 1, Advance, and Battle

I did just that, with links to the wiki pages for moves that come from specific games, in my full Tails moveset. Give it a look and let me know your thoughts!

  • I'm actually proud that I didn't make Propeller Flight his Up+B, but instead made it his Up+Air. That makes it function identically to how it does in the Sonic games, and frees up a special move space.
  • I was only able to work in one Bomb, the Dummy Ring as a projectile Forward Aerial (while flying, he actually doesn't have a direct attack that covers in front of him, outside of projectiles or the Spin Attack itself.
  • If were to replace his Forward+Air and Back+Air with Spin Jump, I could replace Homing Attack with Energy Ball for his Neutral+B. Then Side+B is free to serve as both Dummy Ring Bomb (smash input, faster, explodes on contact with anything), and Chu^2 Bomb (a slower grounded homing bomb that explodes on contact with enemies).

I might likely make those changes... Thoughts for tomorrow.

Tails can homing attack in Sonic Heroes (when Sonic does it), in Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Rivals 2.

Tails really doesn't have to have the Spin Dash, I just rather him have the Spin Dash.

Still think it's pretty dumb that Knuckles has the Homing Attack.

All the characters have it...

It's perfectly fine that he has it of all the non-hedgehog characters.

Why?

That move helps Sonic stand out more instead of just being that blue hedgehog that's really really fast.

Knuckles has super strength for his schtick, the Homing Attack was probably an excuse to not animate more of his attacks.

[up][up][up][up][up] [up] I believe that in all of those games you and randomness mentioned, Tails is partnered with Sonic(and Shadow) as a CPU ally.

Tails and Knuckles don’t have the homing attack when playable.
