And Sakurai would likely want it to be Classic Spyro as he tends to base some third party characters after their classic appearances over more modern ones (Mega Man, Pac-Man, both Belmonts, and Banjo are the main examples here).
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I made this as a Composite Character for all versions of Spyro
As a counterpoint, he can also use more modern versions of the characters since he updates the Zelda characters for pretty much every game and he uses the Pokemon Trainer's Fire Red/Leaf Green design instead of his Red/Blue design.
It's been 3000 years…I do think that a Composite Character is the best way to represent Spyro as unlike most major gaming icons, there is no definitive “canon” Spyro.
The Spyro fandom has an extremely large Broken Base, effectively being 3 separate fandoms in one.

I'm fairly certain that most Spyro fans consider the original Spyro to be the "main" one.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Reignited Trilogy wasn't released in Japan tho. A shame, as it could have worked; perhaps the old "demo alongside a Crash game" approach?
Crash is doing fine and may be getting a game this year, but, all in all, Spyro is more intensive; it just HAS to have larger levels.
And, in any case, their classic approaches are the ones that seem to be here to stay. I can see perhaps Cynder making it into the reignited canon, but Legend as-is, is likely gone.
Crash used to be the best selling western game in Japan until Spiderman PS 4 so hey he has that going for him
Uni catSpyro’s reignited design will be used, but will use moves from all three continuities.
I love how Orville and Wilbur are both Falcos, although it does highlight that we only have him as a stand alone bird character and no, Samus doesn't count.

Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.I thought the chameleon guy fits better as Greninja.
It's been 3000 years…Huh... yeah I suppose he should have been there too.

Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Crash has a similar Broken Base, although I think the CTR remake has helped to mend that by acknowledging pretty much all of the games. I do agree it's weird they didn't release the Spyro Trilogy in Japan... It would have been a good chance to win the crowd.
I missed the part where that's my problem. The reason why Spyro didn't catch on in Japan was pretty much because they had to change the camera system as Japanese gamers were apparently slower to catch on to camera controls.
Conversely, that I think played a part in why Crash appealed to them because Crash didn't require camera controls at all.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I heard that it was released, just not localized. Though that’s hardly any better.

SoundCloudI'm not very familiar with OG Spyro, but it's hard to imagine it having a worse camera than Mario 64.
I missed the part where that's my problem.Try to imagine a camera that was zoomed far away from Mario and would just randomly turn around him whenever it felt like.
That was Spyro 1's Camera in Japan (not in the US).

If any non-video game originating character got into Smash, Spider-Man wouldn't be a bad place to start. Although licensing might be hellish.
I missed the part where that's my problem.Status is hardly a consistent indicator of potential Smash fighters, but Crash does strike me as a more significant character than Spyro, even putting aside their respective results in Japan. The Bandicoot's role as the Sony Playstation mascot (even though his games were always third party) made him, however briefly as visible as Sonic and Mario in his time.
Magazine covers like this◊ illustrate just how big Crash quickly became as both a character and a franchise. Between that and the aggressive marketing of his games towards Nintendo, it could be argued that Crash arguably took the role of the cooler, more rebellious Mario rival away from Sonic for the latter half of the 90s.
Spyro was and still is popular, but he was not the face of a console generation in the same way Crash was.

Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...It gets into collaborations with Capcom often, so I don't see much of a problem with Marvel playing fair here.
It's been 3000 years…Even if Marvel plays nice their licenses are a clusterfuck. I think Spidey's video game rights are tied to Sony.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
I’d rather keep Legend of Spyro away from Classic Spyro, especially since, even if there were any chance Spyro would be selected, it would definitely be his classic form on account of being the only branch of the franchise currently alive.
