Missing No confirmed for smash bros!
The publisher thing, just in case people wonder, meant that Sakurai's team have to update the publisher who owns the character(s) as development progress. Better to show your work to them to be "right" during development so that you can make appropriate changes rather than say, inform the publisher right at the end, which meant scrapping a lot of work if they didn't like certain parts.
With that said, this confirms we have third parties.
It had to take a global pandemic for Masahiro "I passed out due to dehydration while in a sauna" Sakurai to finally be concerned about his health.
Masahiro "I work with an IV drip plugged into my arm" Sakurai.
Masahiro "I built Smash 64 in a cave, with a box of scraps, and a broken freakin' neck!" Sakurai.
Looks like you get to take that break now, Mr. Sakurai.
On to less serious not to mention depressing topics.
Something that's been on my mind since the game came out is that given spirit battles give you only one life, there should be spirits that give you extra stock.
Flagman's spirit battle gives you the ability to gain extra lives.
Sometimes I wish you could replay spirit battles when you wanted, just maybe without prizes
I wish we had a Boss Battle mode rather than having to ascend and beat up puppet fighters on the way up.
A create your own spirit battle would be a fun mode. Take any of the spirits you've unlocked and then craft a specific battle around it with your conditions to share with other players online.
So, I've had this thought in my head today about what Rare characters we could have gotten instead of Banjo. (Not counting Krystal or any DK characters)
My main thoughts were:
Battletoads was made by Rare?
Yep. Microsoft owns the IP now and the people working on the new one aren't Rare since Rare barely exists any more.
...They're making a new Battletoads?
x2 As much as I'd like Conker, he's too risque for Smash. And as neat as the other 3 could be, I don't think we're getting another Rare-Microsoft rep. If we get another Microsoft rep, it won't be from Rare (it'll most likely be Steve?, or my preferred pick, Jesse).
No way a Minecraft rep would be from the Telltale game. I guess they technically have more character, but that wouldn't really come into play and it's far less iconic than Steve?. Not to mention the potential rights issues. At most, there would be an alt referencing it.
For Killer Instinct, it's more or less between Jago(the protagonist) and Fulgore(the mascot). Before the reboot, Fulgore had a far bigger lead, but Jago only somewhat has something due to them choosing him to (at first) represent the reboot game(Definitive Edition has a lot more characters on the cover and all).
And yeah, Battletoads got a new game. It has a bit of a more cartoony artstyle overall, but we haven't seen enough of how it plays compared to the original beyond that. It still looks a lot like the same style of game overall, just with a new art.
Wasn't a Battletoad a Killer Instinct character?
Yes, and hopefully it will bring people over 9000 smiles.
Who's one of the most prominent characters in Sea of Thieves? Maybe we could get a Pirate in Smash?
Pretty sure Sea of Thieves doesn't have any prominent characters, as with most current online-multiplayer-only games.
Shantae has spent a little time as a pirate; you're welcome to get hype and hope for her!
We do have at least one playable pirate: Ridley. Though he's probably not the kind of pirate most people think of.
x3 From the videos I've seen of Sea of Thieves, there are NPC's... And Skeleton Pirates. Skeleton Pirate for Smash?
x2 I don't think Shantae's getting in this time. I could see her as an addition in Smash 6, along with a lot of other Indie Characters, but I don't think she's coming to Ultimate. Could be wrong.
