I mean, duh?
I don't actually think all swordfighting is the same. In fact I specifically referenced Iaito in my post. Let alone that I've previously come up with an entire movelist for Yoshimitsu, referencing both Soul Calibur and Tekken, or that Soul Calibur is one of my favorite series. It's just that some people whine online about the Fire Emblem lords, so I figured I'd differentiate them in terms of Smash moves.
I'm surprised I wasn't clear, and apparently so unclear that I got a sarcastic response, somehow.
Hell, in the Soul Calibur thread, we'd had a discussion about half-swording, and other varied longsword techniques.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI also recall Blue/Prot being able to chuck his shield like Cap does.
That I'm really tired about the swordsman complaint & who should & shouldn't be in the game.
FYI, none of my sarcasm was directed at you.

@Ookamikun. Whenever both Protoman and Mega Man are playable together, Protoman can slide, use charged shots, and has shield when he jumps while Mega Man has double the defenses and less knockback.

That's not what prototypes are, though. Not necessarily.

The sad, REAL American dichotomySuper Prototype is a thing. If I'm not mistaken, ProtoMan's thing is that he has an unstable reactor which is supposedly liable to blow (but, of course, never has).

And even that trope's definition is wrong... It assumes a prototype must be "version 0.9.9.9.8Final_FINAL02 - WORKING" or something like that, where the immediate next thing is "Version 1.0.0 for mass consumption". A prototype can be literally anything that comes before the final product, including the above. Even if the only change is optimizing features, or adding future-proofing, or adding planned obsolescence features, or spinning it off into a different end product entirely.
I suppose that raises the question whether the Robot Masters subsequently built by Dr. Light were intended for mass production (since Rock and Roll seemed to be more for personal companionship and general help for Dr. Light himself). Given that they were built with specific purposes in mind (Guts Man for construction, Cut Man for forest logging, etc.), this would suggest they were. Proto Man seems to have been the proof of concept.

Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805I thought it's established that some of them were intended to not be one of a kind, but they just ended up that way? I mean, what's the use of building a robot to assist with logging, or construction, or... sheep herding
, if only one of them is in operation worldwide?
In other news, the Sonic movie has been doing really well, and Sega also stated in January that there will be a different Sonic announcement every month this year on the 20th, for a Year of Sonic. I can only hope one of those announcements is a movie sequel, one is Tails in Smash, and one is a new game. I can't remember the Sonic franchise ever having this much joy in it's usually unpleasable fanbase.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt's stated that Dr. Wily upgraded Proto Man when he found him in between 2 and 3. Given that Wily seems to be more of the engineer between him and Light, i can see why Proto Man can match his brother in specs since it was Wily who converted him into a combat robot.
It appears that Proto Man's glass cannon status and stronger shots than Mega Man is due to the Nuclear core that Wily placed in him.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The root of the Proto Man talk was his application as a hypothetical echo fighter. When I brought up the success of Sonic I mentioned that Sega was teasing several Sonic announcements, and hoping that one might be another Smash character. Those conversations are entirely on topix.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt seems to me that, due to a shield not being necessary, that Bass would be more likely to be a Mega Man echo than Proto Man. Honestly, as an old-school fan of the Mega Man franchise, I'd honestly be happy with either.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.

Swordfighting is an incredibly diverse fighting style with a ton of variations between type of sword and way they're used, almost as much variation as every other weapon fighting art combined. The fact that both Soul Calibur and Samurai Shodown, both fighting games with the majority of their diverse and unique cast being swordfighters, exist proves that. It's not about limitations with the weapon.
